Fujinami Kodai-ji Temple Store

While wandering around Higashiyama district, we came across Fujinami. We could see that their sweets and snacks were made fresh and tempted by the soft warabi mochi covered with soybean and matcha powder, we knew we had to try. I love love the soybean flavour, whereas wife preferred the matcha. The cold matcha was really good! But because of the ice, it was a quick drink (did not have time to let it melt). We were tempted to try the dango, but unfortunately out bellies were full from all the snacks around. Another added plus is the interior setting of the restaurant. Lots of good sitting spaces that can be a great photogenic shot (there is also an area to look outside a mini garden). It was quiet when we went and the area outside this place is a good neighbourhood to walk around in.

The good: Definitely get the Warabi Mochi combo (soybean and matcha).
The decent: Lots of seating area. Cash only!
The ugly: Can be in the pricier end, but also made fresh.

The dango was really good and the cold matcha drink was perfect. I will make sure to come back again.

Pricey but makes sense with the location. You can have the drink w/or w/o sugar. Food was delicious and freshly made in front of us. 2 drinks and 4 sticks = 1,000 yen.

The freshest dango I had in my life. You've got to try this. You can sit inside and they also serve warabi mochi and cold matcha as well as soft serve.

【行き方】
・店名通り、高台寺を降りたところにお店があります。
・藤菜美さんだけでなく同じような団子屋さんが軒を並べているので、ご注意くださいませ。

【お店の雰囲気】
・実は東京にも支店あるんですよね。たしか渋谷のマークシティに。東京の店舗とは全然違いますが。
・食べたいものを注文して、座敷に腰掛けて一服しながらのんびり過ごす…そんな感じですね。

【お団子とか抹茶ソフトクリームとか】
・お団子はみたらしですが甘すぎずちょうどいいですね。
・また、抹茶ソフトクリームも抹茶感がよく出ていて美味しいです。食べ歩きもできますしね。

みたらし団子がどうしても食べたくてきました！

お餅ももちもちで、食べやすいサイズです◎
喉にくっつくタイプでもないので小さい子やお年寄りも食べやすいお団子かと思います◎
