We would come back for sure. We had a very positive experience here. The location is very good to get around to many other places for tourists. There are laundry machines and a nice gym. The staff are very nice and helpful to a tourist.

Felt like I needed to write a review because there was a nasty boomer in the lobby threatening a bad review over "being nickel and dimed" over breakfast charges.

Excellent location with Nijo Station across the street, you can go anywhere in Kyoto easily from here. Staff was very friendly and accommodating despite my lack of Japanese speaking. Use the luggage shipping if you're going to another hotel after Kyoto. Just ask the desk and they'll know what you mean.

Breakfast offering is pretty meh but really appreciated having the option to eat a meal as most of Japan is closed up until 11. Coffee was solid for a hotel.

Small rooms for Americans but that's to be expected. Check your expectations and recognize this is Japan, not Texas.

The price was incredibly reasonable for my week-long stay. Would stay here again if I had to do it all over.

Three minute walk from Nijo station. Rooms are pleasantly bright, clean and spacious compared to other hotels in Japan. The lobby is cool and modern. We stayed for 5 nights and no complaints whatsoever. We received complimentary drinks for being Gold Bonvoy members. Staff are nice and friendly. I think they really cater to foreigners and tourists. Lots of coffee shops and restaurants nearby. Would love to stay here again when going back to Kyoto.

Very strategic location it’s 2-3 mins walk from Nijo Station, few stops to Kyoto main station. Surrounding with great options of restaurant and we found a great wagyu beef restaurant within walking distance.

It’s Moxy - prepare for a young funky style feel. The breakfast was very simple you can’t expect for a fancy spread. I love the vibes of the lobby and most importantly especially during winter , this hotel equipped with laundry room would save some traveller as you can travel light and get your clothes clean here.

Somehow I enjoyed Moxy rather than other marriot property here due to transportation and food options. Highly recommended to solo travelers and families.

While visiting my daughter in Japan, we had the pleasure of staying at the Moxy Hotel in Kyoto for three nights. It is only a block away from the JR Rail line, making it a perfect base of operations for our sightseeing adventures in Kyoto and Osaka. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the rooms were immaculate, and the easy access to the train station made this the perfect place for us.

Stayed 2 nights here and had an overall great experience. Fun atmosphere.

+ Location: across from the Nijo Station which provides great access to the surrounding areas. If you plan to see Bamboo Forest its only 2 stops (west) on the San-In Line (Purple). If you plan to see Fushimi Inari you can take the same line (San-In Line) toward Kyoto Station and transfer to Nara Line to Fushimi (~20 minutes total).

+ Rooms: modern and offered everything we needed during our stay. I will say the bed and pillows are very soft and not to our liking but that's subjective and I can't give that a negative. Great shower with both rainfall and shower wand options.

+ Amenities: Offers a sizable gym. Various dumbells, kettle bells, weighted bag, yoga mats, yoga room, etc. Something this hotel offered in their gym that no other hotel I have ever stayed at was an actual road bike with a Wahoo Kickr Trainer. If you are training for a triathlon (like me) this was an actual surprise. Bar is open 24hrs, (1) free drink if you have Marriott Status and 15% off drinks during your stay. Various board games and even an original nintendo was available for use.

+ Price: roughly $100/night which I thought was very reasonable.

I couldn’t love a hotel more.

The rooms are very pleasant. Good decor, nice bathroom, good shower, rooms cleaned daily, quality toiletries provided. The wall opposite the bed has about twenty wooden pegs you can hang things from instead of a closet. I never use the hotel closets and I liked this. I found it practical.

The lobby has a super famicom, and board games.

The staff are above and beyond. I had a lot of nice chats with the staff and coming back here after sightseeing felt like I was staying with friends. They advised me on things to see, explained local customs. They let me DJ in the lobby. One even gave me a golden lobster toy he had written some compliments for me on. I doubt anything like that sill ever happen again, at any hotel.

My criticisms of the hotel are small and didn’t affect my stay. The videos that play in the elevator and some of the lobby decor is kind corny but its easily overlooked in light of how perfect this place is. The branding wants to make it seem like this is some crazy party hotel but it isn’t and I wouldn’t want to stay at a hotel full of people partying.

I would go out of my way to stay at Moxy Hotels again in the future.

The hotel is less than 5 min walk away from.m Nijo station. The hotel lobby and reception area is hip and staff is friendly. The room is small but everything seem to be at the right place from the moment you step into it.

Can see that a lot of thought process and effort is being placed into the design of the small room, including the small details for guest place their own toiletry on the shelving to prevent it from dropping. The hook on the wall is really useful especially during the cold season for you to hang all jackets.

It will definitely be our preferred hotel when we return to Kyoto next round.

Amazing service and location! The hotel is about a 3 minute walk from the station and close to a shopping center. Everyone was so nice and accommodating for English speakers. We appreciated the onsite bar and complimentary welcome drink. Good size room by Japan standards. Comfy bed and pillows. We'll definitely stay here again.

A great Moxy in Kyoto. Rooms are small and offer little to no amenities but that’s what you expect at a Moxy brand hotel. It is in a great location, right across the street from a main train station. Close to lots of coffee spots and restaurants. About a half hour walk to the main tourist center of Kyoto.
The hotel offers a bar, breakfast, and has laundry on site.

Great little hotel. A bit out of the way of main sights but the hotel is located next to a train and metro hub so all major sights are easily accessible. Nijo castle is 10 mins away. Food and service are excellent. Room is small and therefore the bed is small for international standards. I would recommend twin beds if you want a good sleep.

Great hotel, right off Nijo line. Staff was incredibly kind and helpful. Had a big issue where I had left something incredibly important and they got it to my next hotel in Tokyo no problem.

The hotel is nice, centrally located, clean and well decorated. It has a very relaxing vibe, and a great bar with coffee, drinks, and food!

The staff is also wonderful, Kaho at the front desk was able to help me (in English) with a few challenging tasks, and she went above and beyond for me! I appreciate the help so much, and her help has made my stay in Kyoto and Japan so much easier and better!

We had a blast in Kyoto, and the Moxy hotel was a highlight to the trip. Very fun, lots of outlets for charging your devices, and the most spacious rooms we had on our whole trip. The room layout was very well thought out with lots of areas to set up your own toiletries and jackets.
The front desk was very kind and helpful, they even offered hotel umbrellas for those rainy days.
I enjoyed the morning breakfast and the espresso machine!
The welcome drink tickets were such a fun bonus to the trip. Across the street from the train station and two bus stops for traveling to the Gion district.
Love Moxy!

Great location and very friendly staff. The atmosphere downstairs around the bar makes for a fun ambiance quite different from a traditional city high rise business hotel. The rooms are small for American standards but comfortable and practical. a few minutes walk from Nijo station. A great budget hotel right in the city center.

Wonderful stay at an amazing value! Great location within less than 5 minute walk to Nijo train station. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was small but it was really clean and modern, and had excellent AC! Appreciated the laundry room on site. There are no irons or steamers in the rooms, but there was an ironing room on our floor which was helpful.

The hotel can be a bit loud because it's right on a busy street but the area is so nice and convenient. It's about a two or three minute walk to the Nijo train station and also to a shopping arcade. The rooms are tiny, but have all the necessary amenities, and the coin laundry is very convenient. The hotel was clean and service was great.

Yet another awesome Moxy. Superb vibe, smallish but utility focused rooms. The lobby is always a happening place if you want to relax and have a break. Love the one free drink coupons! Great location and reachable
