A modern, unique hotel concept perfectly situated-this absolutely satisfied our “experience Japan” desire.

We stayed in the Travelers Room and the experience was excellent. The room is a dark surround sound art installation from around Japan and we loved it. The shower and bathroom facilities were modern and spacious too.

This is a concept hotel unlike anything else I’ve experienced. Don’t come here expecting Western style hotel with all the standard comforts of back home -this is art for the curious and experimental.

What a unique experience, BnA is absolutely amazing!

We stayed 4 nights in this hotel. As we wanted to experience different rooms, we ended up sleeping in 3 of them, which were all unique, very creative yet comfortable and cozy! Each piece of art has an audio and description available.

Additionally, the hotel is clean, with a great attention to details, well located, and the staff is very friendly, helpful and speaks really good English.

And if you’re a coffee/match lover, BnA does amazing cappuccinos! ;)

I’d definitely recommend this place!

We stayed in two rooms during our stay and it was super easy. They switched over the room and moved our luggage while we were out. The front desk also had someone who spoke English and helped us fix our booking with our next hotel. Super nice staff! Rooms were great but we weren't in them much. Not a bad location either. Very walkable to restaurants and bars.

Staying here for 5 days, I can honestly say the rooms are extraordinary on its own, and the Art of course is excellent and interesting.
The staff speaks english really well, and they are really friendly, the bar is pretty good, and the ambience and clean lines and aesthetic of everything is just on point. It feels like a luxury place to stay but focused on art and in you having a nice time.

The bathrooms are amazing and comfy, and big. The elevator is good and the wifi is standard.

I am really happy and would love to stay for longer and try more rooms.

My room was 302, which is a beautiful one with the animated wheel that spins really fast and gets illuminated. Noise wise, please watch it a few times and turn it off, it’s quite noisy.

This is an amazing concept and we need more hotels like this. The D/R/M room was very cool, but I was sad that we couldn't take any pictures / videos of the art inside of it because it was quite phenomenal. Hotel itself is in a great location, clean amenities, and the art is great. Would definitely stay again and try a different art room that can actually be photographed.

Everything was great here. One thing I would point out that I'm not sure that either Expedia or the BnA website do a fantastic job of explaining (maybe just not in English) but while the hotel is an art hotel and the rooms are each art pieces, the rooms are also absurdly well appointed hotel rooms too.

Like, it had everything I'd expect from a 4 star hotel, and it was an art piece you could explore.

I didn't book multiple nights here (even though I had originally planned to do so) because I thought it may be lacking in some of the basic comforts I'd expect from a hotel on a long trip to a country I've never been before, but it had all of that and then some.

TV? Check, even an active Netflix subscription.

WiFi? Phenomenal speeds and stability.

One of the best showers/non Jacuzzi style tubs I've ever use? You better believe it.

And then on top of all of those things the view from the room I stayed in (EYE) was possibly one of the best I've ever had in a hotel. As I checked in the sun was setting over Kyoto, casting beautiful orange glows across the Gion neighborhood. A perfect view of the river out of the window next to the sofa. The hallway had floor to ceiling windows overlooking Kyoto including a view of the top of Kyoto tower.

I won't spoil the art portion, I think that's worth experiencing for yourself, but even without the full blown gallery and art installation in the room itself this hotel was absolutely worth it.

The service was very good and the employees were very kind and knew english very well. Considering the cheaper price point as well as the interesting art rooms, this art hotel satisfied us during our trip to Kyoto.

A very interesting and fun hotel concept. Out of the 12 accommodations I stayed in during my travels in Japan, this was one of my favorites. The staff were all friendly and I got a helpful walkthrough of the room and amenities once I arrived. The room itself (I stayed in the Mizuguchi room) was unique and enjoyable for the 3 nights I spent in Kyoto. The location was excellent as well. I would love to come back and try out some of the other art rooms.

The staff also went above and beyond to help me with a challenge I had encountered for my upcoming itinerary. Amazing hospitality.

We popped in for breakfast as my wife needed a proper coffee, and as you can tell, the staff totally delivered .Great Croque Monsieur and smoked salmon as well .I would have liked to pop back at night as the bar looked quite promising.

Amazing concept, very nice and helpful staff. The hotel is very nice and clean.
Unfortunately we didn’t have many options for breakfast but at least the coffee was great.
Our room was designed in such a unique way so just being in the room was an experience for us :)
I’m sure we will come back!

Best hotel you will ever stay in. Please book if you love art. You’re becoming apart of the art by staying here. This was an amazing experience and I will be back to Japan to stay here again!

Thank you for the amazing service, fantastic rooms, shop and cafe. I loved every second of my stay and that’s why I booked a second night!

Support local artists and support this hotel.

Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Hotel is in a great location, room was quite large by Japanese standards and we had a lovely view over the river. Breakfast was really nice, avo & mushroom baguette (also a ham option), with corn soup & a drink. Would recommend to stay here.

Don't judge this hotel by using a business hotel standard or you will be disappointed. Each room is nicely designed or painted by artists and it is so much fun. Why not book different rooms to experience different designs. The hotel is also a stone throw away from the shopping hotspots in Kyoto.

The coffee is amazing! Museum is equally good to look around.

If you want the coffee... coffee base is on the second floor. Stairs are on the right as you walk through. Must visit. It's worth the walk down to Kyoto Station we stayed further north from the main station.

Trendy hotel with spacious rooms that are also works of art. The staff are all very helpful, friendly, and accommodating. They even offered to let us stay in different rooms each night to experience the other artworks. Will stay again when i return to kyoto.

Great hotel with really unique rooms. In our room we were able to add to the artwork by sticking a 5p coin up on the wall. Very friendly staff that made us feel welcome .

It's a very cool hotel! Cafe is also amazing. Some of the best coffee and matcha we've tried in the area.

I have to start by admitting the I can be quite picky when it comes to food and lodgings. That being said, I loved this hotel! Each room is designed by a local artist and totally different from the others. We stayed on the too floor in a room designed by a DJ with a dark decor and hip style. The room and bathroom were quite large. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Location was ideal - quiet, but a 5-10min walk from of nightlife and great dining options. Loved it! Total steal from 200ish per night.
