Kyoto Central Post Office

Wonderful service from the Kyoto Central Post office! I visited twice during my stay in Kyoto, and both times the staff was extremely helpful. The first time was just to send out some postcards. The second time was to send a box with some gifts to a friend in the US. Of course, it was pricey to send all the way from Kyoto to the US, even with the current exchange rate. However, the staff was extremely helpful in making the process easy to do. My lack of Japanese language skill was only a minor problem!

Many Kyoto postcards can be found here, e.g. gotochi postcards, regional post office exclusive posta collect postcards etc. Perfect place for postcard collectors and tourists to buy souvenirs.
This branch also has the special postmark 風景印.
There are two cute postboxes outside the post office, one is the traditional postbox and another one with a geisha on top.

Staffs always welcome and do their best to help no matter what a gaijin or not. I always have a good time here. Also even national holiday, they are on operation. I had to send important package to Tokyo by Tuesday, I went on Sunday evening and Monday is national holiday, I was quite worried if it is possible to reach in time. The staff helped me a lot and took a great care with everything on the pack and said 'no worries, no problem at all'❤ Thank you so much! 本当に助かりました！

Staff are very helpful and can speak some English however i found communicating with Google translate much easier.

We filled in the paperwork online to post a parcel internationally and it was such an easy process.

The post office opens at 7 AM, but the "main" area doesn't open until 9 AM. Keep this in mind if you need to buy an envelope/box for whatever you're shipping, as the smaller area that's open earlier may not have the packaging needed.

The employees here helped me mail an international package -- they were extremely patient with me while I worked out exactly what I needed, and also helped me find the right-sized parcel (since the ones on display weren't correct).

The staff were kind and extremely helpful and continued to be patient with us as we were sending a package back to the US very helpful we now have a better understanding of how the Japanese post office works and hopefully we can make their job a little easier next time

Did not realize it was a National holiday (vernal equinox). The post office near my hostel closed, and without information on opening hours specified in Google Map, I just tried my luck here :) Staff was efficient and polite to foreigners, and they understood English. One word of caution in posting packages overseas. Just stating "cosmetics" in the description of goods won't do. You need to specify the details, e.g. Face cream x2, Lip balm x3. I was asked to remove sunscreen and hair dye from my package, as they were prohibited items.

Have various choices of stamp for collection if you visit tokyo. It was just right outside Train station. The service was great they are patience with you

The staff attending to customers are patient and friendly. There is a lady who speaks some English and she is extremely helpful and patient with our requests.

We sent a parcel to europe from here, the staff was really nice and helped us with everything.

All the staff speak English. Super helpful, and really paid attention to detail. Did not think it would be so easy to send a package half way around the world!
