Out of our 2 week stay in Japan, Hotel Anteroom was by far our favourite hotel.
Super stylish & artsy. The room I picked had a beautiful wooden tub overlooking the outside zen garden from a window in the bathroom and I was in the tub almost every night. The bed was huge and luxurious. Whenever we didn’t want our room turned over for the day, they left bags of fresh towel, bottles of water, etc at our door for us, which was nice.
Great location, only a few minute walk from Kujo Station which was only 1 stop away from Kyoto Station.
Thank you!

One of our favourite hotels so far in Japan! Modern and has good amenities like free bath salts, a stacked breakfast and a bar to lounge in. Front desk were amazing, especially the girl with a bob haircut, she helped us send our luggage on to Haneda and checked us in with a smile. Only downside is TV was old but we didn’t even really use it as Kyoto has so much to see and do and it’s slightly out of the centre but it’s near the big temples.

I had a fantastic stay in Hotel Anteroom!
The staff is very professional and helpful. The hotel has various rooms(about 6-7 different art tema rooms) designed by artists which you can choose from if there is availability. The rooms are spacious and includes most of the amenties. It also has a bar where you can sit and chill. The breakfast is very delicious too!
The hotel is close to Kyoto station for about 15 mins. on foot. I definetely suggest you to try it out!

Really cool and unique hotel! Lovely rooms, great breakfast which changed a little each day. Access to laundry and a little DIY bath salts stand which was really nice quality.
Location-wise, it's not super close to the station but still in walking distance.

Great artful hotel, cheap but clean and big rooms. It's about 5-10 minutes away from the metro lines.
It was a surprise to find such a great place in Kyoto and it made our stay all the more enjoyable.

✨ INCREDIBLE SERVICE & BEAUTIFUL ROOMS ✨
I cannot thank the staff at this hotel enough. I accidentally discarded my JR pass and they legit went digging through rubbish bags to help me retrieve it. They honestly saved my holiday!
On top of that, the rooms are incredibly roomy and super comfortable. Wish we had stayed longer. 1000/1000 would recommend when staying in Kyoto

Very nice, good breakfast, clean, friendly, small rooms, but that's like everywhere in Japan, interesting exhibitions.

Everything you'd want in a hotel. Great (!) beds, a very good shower, and the highlight was the breakfast. Don't skip the breakfast!

My best hotel experience in years. Amazing value. Don't worry about the 'distance' to the station, it is an easy walk, plus there are plenty of public transport options around.

I wished I stayed longer!

Ive been staying in Japan for two whole months now, and this is probably the best hotel I’ve experienced so far. The staffs were very helpful, the design of the hotel is on another level, and there’s a game arcade gallery inside which i find awesome. There’s a proper smoking room and other amenities. Love love looooove this hotel 🧡

Very nice hotel, it is very "hipster" and modern with strange art all around. The bed was very comfortable and they have washing and dryer machines for very cheap. They also have a bar which for the fee nights i spent there was always closed. The hallway looks out of a horror movie but it's safe and comfy

It's cozy and quiet.
It's spotless clean.
A walking distance to Kyoto Station.
There's a supermarket across the street.

*The housekeeping is daily (which unnecessary I think). Request to have it done every 2-3 days of stay.

I can't rate the rooms because I didn't stay at Anteroom, but they have a spectacular breakfast buffet that tempted me to check their rates for the next time we are in Kyoto.

The homemade granola and yogurt bar was excellent, the green smoothie delicious and nutritious, and hot dishes (a fusion of Japanese and western) were above average for a hotel buffet, especially at this price range (1,400JPY).

Beautiful hotel, great service. I love the personal touches, like mixing your own bath salts (free) for a beautiful relaxing soak in the room. Helped us rent bicycles to explore , always willing to assist

Cool hotel, when we stayed they had a neat art exhibition. The hotel was far from the station for many activities we did. The room designs were very neat and the staff spoke good English.

I can only say great things about this place! It's got a very cool atmosphere and ambiance, the rooms are well designed and equipped with everything you'd need, and the front service was super friendly and helpful! I highly recommend! For foreigners, the location is a little far from most attractions walking wise, but kyoto station is only a ten minute walk away so if you've got a ic card or jr pass, you're good!

The rooms are big enough. Especially after coming from Tokyo.
It has a big and very nice decorated lobby. The staff were great. Helping us in countless occasions.

I stayed here in a single room during my trip to Japan a few years ago, and this was easily one of the best places I stayed at on my trip.

I was able to get into my room early, which was very welcome. Although compact, the room had everything I needed, and it was spotless and comfortable.

Staff were absolutely wonderful.

Now... The location isn't the greatest, but it's a bit of a trade-off given the prices for single rooms are considerably lower than those in the touristy areas.

Overall, great. I would absolutely return on future travels.

Not a trouble if you got bus pass, just few hundreds meter away from bus station.
For this price, Definitely over the value ! Own room, salt bath, longbath, big bed , and more .
Too bad they didn't provide coffee 😔
Overall still will come back again

Hotel Anteroom was one of the best hotels during our two week stay in Japan. The basic rooms are spacious with a dining/sitting area, large bathrooms (with separate toilet), and a small but helpful foyer. The bed is large and comfy and the air conditioning was powerful, perfect for those that like a chilled room while they sleep. The hotel offers all sorts of helpful amenities like laundry (dryers are so-so), a bar with great cocktails/whisky, and a delicious breakfast service. The hotel has a small art gallery and various works around the hotel and in the rooms. The staff were exceptionally helpful with whatever we needed. Subsequent hotels highlighted how good we had it at anteroom!
