Okinawa City Fishing Association Payao Market

My mom took me to this fish market when I visited my island last summer.
They sell fresh caught fish, other seafoods, vegetables, etc and their restaurant was amazing!
I don’t eat law fish, so I ordered fish soup and it was really good.

I highly recommend this place❤

Fresh fish tempura, vegetables tempura and even chicken karage at the takeaway kiosk.

Inside you can buy fresh 🐟 and also some local dried food stuff.

A small restaurant/ canteen sell sushi bowl, lobsters and yummy fish soup.

There were a lot of tourists on our 2nd visit. Do come early.

Okinawa City Fishing Association is a very local Place to visit for sashimi. There are set meals and fresh cut sashimi for sales. Amazing experience. Worth a visit

I really enjoyed my meal here. The prices were more than fair for what was provided. I have a sashimi set and half lobster set. Usually, I find uni to be a somewhat aggressive and overpowering flavor, but paired with the lobster and rice, it was wonderful. The price of the entire set was as much as buying half a lobster would be at many grocery shops. The sashimi platter was fresh and tasty as well. The portion sizes were also quite large. You will definitely leave feeling full and satisfied. Staff was also kind, friendly, and helpful. They accept credit cards as well which was an unexpected bonus. Ample covered outdoor seating as well as a few tables inside. Plenty of vending machines on the side of the building for preferred beverage choice as well.

Went to get salmon and tuna. Asked at counter, individual was able to understand after I pointed to picture. Fresh salmon, half fish was 4900 yen, say 50 bucks. Great deal fresh and on the way out purchased some sushi. So far best fish market on island!

You can get fresh fish and have them clean them for your liking. They can clean the fish and even slice them for Sashimi or Sushi if the fish is Sashimi/Sushi grade. After you pay for the fish at the cashier, they will give you a small paper with a number and they will call you when your order is ready. You can pick your fish at very left side of the counter. The fish market area only takes Yen, but the restaurant next to it in the same building takes cards. I am not sure if the Tempura stand by the entrance takes cards or not. There are plenty of pictures of the menu with numbers at the restaurant area, they serve so quick and have outside seating available.

The food here is awesome! My sea urchin ricebowl set comes with tempura, a big bowl of fish soup and a small plate of sea grapes as side dishes. The soup was sweet and bursting with flavours of seafood. The sea urchin was fresh and buttery which melts in your mouth~
