Hotel Okura Kyoto

I really love this hotel for its interesting 1970/80/90 well preserved luxury ‘old modern’ Kyoto vibe. Convenient central location, many fine food restaurants inside and all with seriously cool time capsule decor. Book in advance and you can find some wonderful bargains here. Star rating based in part on getting a good deal.

The staff were very nice and welcoming.
The location was perfect because you could see the sun rise and canal.
The service was amazing and very quick you sign in very easily and also easy checkout.
Loved the pillows and warm sheets.

Was only there for one night, so service and location are low, but the feel of it...

Besides the subway in the basement which I think is next level when getting around. The feel of the hotel was riveting. It felt I on set for a Ghostbusters movie or a reenactment of the Shining...

If you have the opportunity to check out Hotel Okuru Kyoto, give it a whirl. I'm sure there's nothing you'll find to complain about.

Fantastic hotel in a great location of Kyoto. Welcoming staff with high level of professionalism. The room is comfortable and clean for two of us with all the needed amenities. Daily housekeeping. Highly recommended. Would stay again next time we’re back in Kyoto.

I enjoyed every moment of my week long stay at Hotel Okura. My room was kept spotless. The staff answered my every request promptly with great warmth and enthusiasm. The doormen helped me with many taxi requests and treated me with respect and kindness. The front desk person remembered my name and mailed my WiFi Hotspot for me. As a solo traveler it was wonderful to be welcomed and feel like a part of their hotel family, every day. I treasure the origami crane that greeted me in my room when I arrived. I will be coming back to Japan and am looking forward to once again staying at the Hotel Okura.

Spotless rooms, central location, excellent breakfast buffet with a view on the top floor with all kinds of dishes, courteous staff, complimentary shuttle service to the station, close to restaurants and shopping. Can’t wait to go back. A perfect stay!

Hotel Okura is a mix of historic and new in the heart of Kyoto. It is in a great location, easy to access from Kyoto station and close to shops and restaurants. The staff is friendly and facilities are immaculate. Great breakfast buffet as well.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. They were very accommodating with helping us set up luggage forwarding and ordering a taxi. The hotel is in a very convenient location, with train entrances just a few steps away.

Stayed there for 2 days. Was pretty good. Walk to the gardens wasn't too long, plenty to see along the way. Overall the atmosphere was pretty good.

This is an excellent hotel. The room we had was big, 44 sq m, clean with a lot of good touches to make feel like home. Buffet Breakfast was the best I have so far on this trip.
Highly recommend. I look forward to staying here again.

Excellent hotel with outstanding staff snd services. Rooms are well appointed. I had great views from the room facing East. The hotel is 100+ years old but it is very well maintained - beautiful lobby. High quality restaurants that are a bit pricy and mostly offered set menus. Hotel is attached to a subway station. It also offers free transfer services to/from the Kyoto Station. I strongly recommend this hotel.

An excellent hotel,spacious well equipped rooms. This hotel has a feel of quality and professionalism about, it has a really comfortable well stocked bar on the second floor. Served a very comprehensive buffet breakfast. Next door to the hotel near the police station there is an excellent duty free wine and spirits shop.Very good prices and a better range and less queues than the airport.

A fabulous stay we have had at Hotel Okura Kyoto! The staff are very hospitable. The cleaning of the rooms each day is immaculate.
Location wise this hotel is only about a 10 minute walk to the theatre if you’re going to see a Geisha show. About a 20 minute walk to the area of some of the shrines and temples. The hotel offers a free shuttle transfer to and from the Kyoto train station from around 10am onwards. A taxi only costs around ¥1800 if your times fall outside this shuttle service.

Excellent services and very nice to foreign tourists. Must try the buffet breakfast at the top floor with exceptional views of Kyoto city.
蒲池(Kamachi)さん is an exceptional and highly-motivated staff at the restaurant, as well as other staffs of the hotel, who offered warm services to us. Okura Kyoto is highly recommended to everyone.

Stayed in this hotel three nights in Dec and another seven nights last week. The shuttle service to and from Kyoto station is efficient and convenient. Customer service is great as always. However the setting, technology and facilities within guest rooms were very out dated and old. They require refurbishing and updating to fit the modern world.

A very convenient place in the city centre of Kyoto that connects directly to the metro. Guests always find taxis waiting just outside the hotel, as well.
Spotlessly clean and quiet rooms, very helpful and kind staff that speak English. Fully accessible and baby friendly areas, including a nursing room. Families with young infants can also request a baby bed, depending the child's age.
Totally recommend it for families, couples and business travellers.

Great location, within walking distance to the main shopping district and the famous Kyoto old town bars.

We enjoyed our stay at the Okura Kyoto very much. The service was fantastic and the hotel is very well located. Certainly a great deal.

Upscale luxury hotel. The hotel and building itself is full of history.

Lots of formal events are held in the halls. The restaurants are great. Service is amazing.
