It was an awesome experience that I could never forget. My only concern over here is not all staff can talk to you in english so you need to know at least a few Japanese words. And there's a machine there that sells you a ticket so no need for another human interaction. It has an english instruction if you cant understand Japanese. It is convenient. Definitely I recommend this place.

This is my first time watching movie in Japan. So you buy tickets from the movix building, if your theater from 10 above, you should go to the next building. Or you can ask the staff is in the same building, or the building next to it. Also the staff is friendly to tourist. Tried some popcorn but too much of the BBQ powder. The chair is ok. Not too soft but a little hard. You have to hold it before sit because its folded automatically when no one sits there. Have a great time watching here...

This place has standard and Dodby cinemas so you may not find high tech experiences with IMAX or 4DX . However tickets are easy to obtain online or on-site. Popcorn and other food or drink are available of around ¥1000.

A Japanese cinema experience is quite something! You can choose your seating, use credit cards to pay at the oh-so-convenient self serve ticket machines, and you can have salty or sweet popcorn. Also, beer. Woo! I enjoyed this very much. Note: you will have to make your way using some Japanese, for the smoothest experience possible. Keep in mind that everyone stays until the very end of the credits and is dead silent throughout. ;)

I live in Kyoto and come here often. Very clean theaters, nothing sticky, no leftover popcorn. They recently installed all automated ticket machines. Concessions are expensive, but it's a theater and what you'd expect. I find American theaters to be extremely loud, and these ones have appropriate volume.

Japanese theaters have assigned seats, so buy tickets early if you're going to a new release and you won't have to fight the crowd. The best time to go is late at night - tickets are cheaper and the auditoriums are usually empty.

Also, Kyoto's theaters are usually silent during the film; nobody laughs or yells, and there's never chitchat. That can be strange if you're not used to it.

Overall, 5-stars. It's right downtown and both buildings are very well run.

With some effort, the counterels will help you in English and warn you if subtitles are available or not. clear directions on where to go with helpful staff.
However compared to European cinema the seats are placed very low which leads to only the back seats till 3/4 being on eye height. Everything else looks up to the screen. Seats were comfortable with each seat having 2 armrest and one cupholder.

Enjoyed it very much. I just love how the trays sit on the cup holders (see pic).

Japanese movie theaters don't usually have butter popcorn which still bums me out, but I enjoyed how this theater has 2 armrests for EACH seat so you won't have to fight for them. Some of the screens are in another building, which made it strange since we had to walk outside with our popcorn and drinks.

First time watching movie in a movie theater in Japan because of Avatar. The tickets were bought on a automatic machine. There’s a discount for students and elders.

Went there alone for a night show. Although I could not speak japanese, i managed to get the ticket and buy some snacks for movie. The staffs were helpful and spoke just enough english to get the things done. The seats were very comfortable. There is no place to park your bike so i suggest you to park somewhere near 7-11 and go for movie if you have one. Oh yes and the movie i watched was in english and yes they do play english movie. The night show is the cheapest and starts at 9 30.

Popular movie place with an average movie price in Japan. The seats in the theaters are really comfortable and food is pretty good. Also the Theater is kept very clean.

Nice big cinema, interesting thing is, they'll give you a plate for holding onto the food and drinks you have purchased makes the movie experience even better.

Clean and easy to navigate. We needed something to go while it was raining. There are movies here that play in English with Japanese subtitles.

I spent too much trying to win on the toy machines. They seem pretty fixed. Lots of other stuff there though.

Nice place with nice discounts. It has a little arcade area too which is a lot of fun before/after the movie.
