I enjoyed the movie I saw here on IMAX. The concessions were good as well. The large popcorn is quite large and is a good value.

Movie theaters rule am I right? This one does too it turns out. Hey where else can you see Top Gun, Fast and the Furipus, and like art films in the same place? This one ya dorks!

I won't blather on because it is time for me to watch some Vin Diesel film or something I can't remember. That is more important than taking the time to itemize everything about this theater in review form. See ya cousin!

I bought wrong tickets I didn't know what to do. The staff were very patient and helpful, even though I couldn't speak any Japanese.

Glad they have 3D IMAX here. I enjoyed the movie and seating was nice. Everyone is so polite and quiet here, so you don’t have to worry about people talking or checking their phones during the movie. It was a little difficult to buy a ticket online unless you know Japanese, otherwise I think there is a way to buy a ticket with Apple Pay through Google that’s easier.

Convenient theater. 3 min walk from Nijo JR station. Got a large coke for 400 yen!
Also, the IMAX theater is too good!

Best cinema in Kyoto in my opinion. The premier screen theater is so so comfortable. And Imax is always a treat.

Can't speak Japanese at all but wanted to watch a movie after a long day. Chose an English showing without too much difficulty and was pleasantly surprised by the ladies day discount. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The snacks were cheap compared to Canada and were quite tasty -- the split flavour popcorn is genius! Seats in the theatre were comfy and the quality of the film was great.

Great theater. I love the store outside, too. Nice options for food.
My daughter dropped her shoe and we didn't realize it, but a staff member ran after us to give it back to us. Super nice!

At this theater, you select your seats, which I love! I was able to buy them online but make sure you have the Google Translate app installed because it will automatically translate the site into English. Ran into a problem when it wouldn't accept my phone number (required to complete purchase). My Japanese cousin texted us his and then it was no problem. You probably could use any Japanese number. Once you complete the online purchase, it gives you a 4 digit confirmation code plus the phone number you gave. Once you arrive, go to a ticket kiosk and enter in this info. The machine prints out the tickets and everything proceeds how it would in USA. Cost was 1900 per adult, 1500 for our college student, 1000 for our high school student, and 1000 for our jr high student. No proof needed but she did look at tickets and us to see if kids looked to fit those ages. Since we saw it in IMAX, there was a 500 IMAX appreciation fee additional to the prices listed above. Prices for popcorn and soda were surprisingly affordable compared to USA prices. We got a popcorn (about medium USA size) and 3 medium Cokes for only 1400. I think that would have easily been over $20 in US.
We went on a Monday around 3pm and the theater was nearly empty. Everything was very clean as usual in Japan. During movie, there is NO talking, texting or loud eating. Everyone is very quiet. At the end, it is traditional to wait until credits are over and lights go on before getting up to exit. Plus you take your trash into the hallway area where someone there is waiting to take it from you. Employees very friendly and many spoke some English.
I think the only thing that would make this experience even more perfect, if the seats were the reclining type that are now spreading throughout California's theaters.

Excellent theater. Saw Shin Godzilla here last summer. Keep in mind that theater prices are much more expensive in Japan than they may be in the States or elsewhere.

Seeing a Godzilla movie in a Toho cinema was a highlight of Kyoto. A little out of the way but great picture, sound and service.

It's a cinema, with movies! A rarity in Corona times! Go after 8:30pm it's cheaper.. but only if the movie starts after 8:30pm, important to bear in mind!

Clean cinema. Nice seats and good snacks. Expensive tickets for my experience. I paid 3 times the price i pay at my local cinema. For the same quality.

Good place to watch international as well as Japanese movies in Kyoto. You can select from normal theater to 3D and iMax !!
