Delicious steamed buns, shui mai and fried dumplings to go! Perfect late night snack after a long day of sightseeing! Don't be discouraged when you see the long lineups because it moves pretty quick. Really good value for the money and fills the belly while being tasty at the same time.

Everything here is delicious. If you are coming to this area, please come and try! The restaurant is upstairs, but you can also order to go on the first floor. I highly reccomend to eat here, please try the spicy shrimps, those are amazing.

Very efficient and friendly service. The pork buns are hefty and really delicious. They come with baby packets of Dijon mustard that I find overpowering but it’s fun to try. The buns have a subtle sweet flavor and the texture is nice. For 420 for two it’s an excellent deal and very yummy.

A famous Chinese restaurant in Osaka. The pork bun and the siumai are very popular. The take away section has a very long cue. However the dine in is not bad
We waited for 5 minutes only.

The food we ordered are all delicious. Fast service.

Amazing gyozas, fast and kind service!
Only complaint is that the food was almost cold, and we ordered 2 separate times.

My memories of Osaka always bring me back to Horai's pork buns. There is a long line always here for the pork buns which are simply the best!! Served steaming hot , the bun has a nice chewy but soft soft texture. The pork is perfectly salted and is oh so delicious and juicy . I wish they would open up chains in Australia. They would be immensely popular!

I am new to this restaurant chain as I have been to 2 different restaurants in Osaka, I have got to say that I enjoyed both. Yesterday I ordered a seafood noodle soup with a side order of fried rice, I shared gyoza and xiao long bao with my friend it was delicious, the important thing about this restaurant is that the service is prompt and friendly, the food was plentiful and delicious, overall, this represents excellent value for money, I will not hesitate to discover more branches of 551 Horai.

The food was amazing. Even though the line was quite long and took me about fifteen minutes to order then another ten minutes or so to get the food, it was well worth the wait. I wasn't paying attention and didn't realize there was a sit-down restaurant upstairs or I would have eaten there rather than getting takeout and eating back at my hotel as seating is a bit hard to find in that area.

On the ground floor is the take out counter which sells varieties of Shu mai and steamed dumplings. The restaurant upstairs offers a variety of Chinese dishes which are quite reasonably priced, though not quite authentic Chinese.

It’s quite popular with locals and tourists alike, and so it can be quite crowded. However, I’ve never had to wait for a table before. Once seated, you can pick from the "Grand Menu" which contains quite a variety of Chinese dishes.

I cannot fault the food as they are all tasty. Thing is, I am Chinese and I can taste the subtle differences between the real thing and what was being served. Nevertheless, my wife and I enjoyed the meal.

Prices are reasonable and you can be assured of a hearty meal here.

Pork was very delicious, buns were very fluffy. Siu Mai were unexpectedly tasty too. Definitely worth the line.

Walked past the shop a few times and the queues are usually massive. But there was once we walked past and saw only a handful of people in the queue. Immediately we walked in to purchase the bun and shumai.

The fillings in both the bun and shumai were flavorful but somehow the one in the bun tasted better. The bun skin was bouncy and not too thick. Definitely something worth trying if the queue is not long.

Need to queue around 30 minutes. The butaman already sold out. But I try the Pork Siomay and Prawn Siomay. It’s really delicious and cheap!

Actually very good prices. I enjoyed their gyoza/dumplings, xiumai, and pork buns.. All classic dim sum dishes and the food tastes really fresh. Highly recommend

I wanted to taste their pork buns and siomai. The line wasn't too long. Cued for about 20 minutes. The pork buns was good.

Quite simply delicious quick on-the-go snacks! We tried almost everything on the menu but their original signature Butamen is still their best !

Steamed pork bun and steamed char siu buns in the old style yeast raised dough. Bouncy and toothsome buns, generous filling and balanced flavour (sweet but not too sweet, savoury but not too salty, fragrant but not over seasoned with Chinese wine and sesame oil and white pepper). Worth stopping !

551 Hourai, a Chinese restaurant in Osaka, is famous for its take-out pork buns.
The seafood fried noodles available in the restaurant are a hidden gem.
