Absolutely loved this aquarium. I found it incredibly well done with great exhibits and variety. The Great Barrier Reef section was closed for upgrading works when we were there but it was still an overall fantastic experience. The 2 whale sharks were definitely the highlight. Such beautiful, magnificent creatures. Pro tip: buy your entrance tickets online and get the table of feeding times on the website before you come here and plan your visit accordingly. They don’t display all the feeding times in one place anywhere; rather, the feeding time is displayed on each individual exhibit, so it makes it quite challenging to see overall feeding times in one place to plan your route. You can easily spend half a day here.

We LOVED our time at the Osaka aquarium!! The whale sharks, sunfish, Japanese crabs, etc etc are all amazing and worth the trip. The aquarium is super easy to reach by metro and shouldn't take more than 2 hours to visit if you keep a good pace. The place is also super walkable and packed with useful info about the sealife there.

It was such an experience! The place is enormous and you can basically spend the whole afternoon looking at various marine life.

If you get a chance to see the staff interact with dolphins, it’s a great watch!

There are resting benches here and there which was very handy. There’s also an area for kids so will be a great place to visit as a family.

Unfortunately, it does get crowded and it pays to get there a bit early to skip waiting in line. You can purchase the tickets online. This will save you heaps of time.

The cafe was amusing - we loved the theme and hotdog is a must-try. Ice cream was great also. There is a wall designed for photo shoots.

My wife’s favorite part was looking at small fishes - the whole area is very well designed and each dome are presented very uniquely. My favorite was the jellyfish domes. But you cannot ignore the main attraction which is the whale shark. You won’t know how much time has passed gazing into the dome.

Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and would totally recommend to anyone from family to dating couples, and even for individuals who are genuinely interested in marine life!!

Very good aquarium. The spotlight being on the centre tank containing the rays and whale sharks. It is well maintained. I would advise going in the week as opposed to the weekend and early as it was busy for me on a Wednesday

Best aquarium we have ever been. The layout allows you to see the sea animals in close proximity all the time, it feels like you are immersed in the ocean. Quiet crowed since it is a popular spot, but it doesn't feel like you could not observe the creatures. All the contents have English translations, which is a great plus for us (we don't understand Japanese). They have so many awesome and unique sea animals with detailed info, very informative. Both my two kids and I had a lot of fun. Try their ramune soft-served ice cream too it's yummy!

Admission is 2700 JPY for normal adult tickets. The tour takes about 2-3 hours. We really liked the structure of the aquarium. It is set up like a spiral. You start with the flora at the top and slowly work your way down without getting lost or end up in a dead end. There are plenty of seats and toilets along the way. There is even a café towards the end.

Great aquarium definitely better to go during weekdays as it's less busy.

Better to buy tickets in advance, they allow you in based on time of ticket in 15 minute windows (although you can stay as long as you like once in it seems). We purchased our tickets in the morning for 430 pm, got there early to walk around (that was at 2pm and they were selling tickets for 415pm when we got there).

The aquarium itself is impressive with display split by regions. The dolphins were a particular highlight.

We went here on a whim. It was near Universal Studios and we were looking for a place to have dinner. But this place didn't disappoint. It was well built and organized. The music inside the aquarium was so soothing. All the fishes were dancing in sync! It was so lovely to see and witness. It will make you want to stay, sit down in front of the aquarium, and just stare at the wonders of the sea waltzing to classical music! All the fishes were healthy, well fed and the aquariums were clean! All expected from the Japanese culture. We would love to come here again!

One of the best aquariums in the world! I imagine it is busy non stop with field trips and tourists, and for good reason. It has whale sharks! The design of the aquarium alone is a monument to be seen. Get your tickets in advance and expect crowds. The flow and structure of the aquarium still makes the experience very memorable. Also get you one of those long whale shark wieners and some blue ice cream. It was delectable!

Very spectacular. I'm impressed by the sheer amount of creatures and tanks in this aquarium. They seperate the tanks and simulate the native environments/ natural habitats of the animals, even the day/night light cycle. The animals seemed happy and we enjoyed the trip a lot. We went in the winter and off season so there was no wait at all. Make sure to book a ticket in advanced through klook or other websites just in case, we booked through kkday because klook tickets ran out but there was no queue when we arrived. If you wanna see the feedings of some animals, make sure to come early, they all end at around 3:30pm.

Unexpectedly, Osaka Aquarium turned out to be a marine wonderland with a diverse range of species, surpassing even the acclaimed Georgia Aquarium, touted as the largest in the United States 🐟🐠🪼🦞🦀🐬🐋🦈🦭🐊. The aquarium is cleverly divided into numerous sections, each featuring a carefully crafted environment that immerses visitors in the unique ambiance of that particular region 🌊🌏. It's truly a delightful experience that goes beyond mere observation, allowing you to feel like you're part of the underwater world. Thumbs up for this captivating aquatic adventure! 👍🏼

One of the best aquariums that I have visited.
- I highly recommend that you book the tickets in advance as we had to wait for 40 minutes to enter. Luckily, there was a small shopping mall next to the aquarium to walk around.
- They have two types of penguins.
- Very organized place with multiple sea creatures. You can easily spend there 1-2 hours.

A fun tourist destinations for the whole family.

Love how in the aquarium you start at the top and work your way down and you only realise it as you move along - ie some of the tanks are 3 or 3 stories high.

Overall it's busy, but not overly crowded. Take your time to just watch these amazing animals - breath taking. Well worth a visit.

Excellent aquarium, you take an escalator up high and slowly spiral your way down, passing various tall tanks and one gigantic central tank with two whale sharks!

Really good price and a fantastic activity, with or without kids.

It took us (3 adults) 1:45 to get through it moving at a pretty quick pace

Interesting place. Spent about 3hours there. Very well planned and setup. If possible, get out before sunset as there’s a Starbucks there with a really great open view.

Fishes: 4/5

Could have more interesting and big fishes in my opinion.
Loved the penguin exhibit at the end though. Not sure if we’re able to touch it.

This aquarium is amazing!

The exhibits are top-notch, providing a array of marine life.

Okay, the Great Barrier Reef was under construction when I swung by, but hey, the overall experience was still mind-blowing. The two whale sharks? Absolute showstoppers. Majestic doesn't even cut it.

Pro tip: Grab your tickets online and scout the feeding times.

I've made this a pitstop on every Osaka visit, and it's never let me down. My kiddos had a blast wandering through the massive tanks, and honestly, we could've clocked in hours just gawking at sea critters. The seals and dolphins? Total MVPs. Some say the whale shark's tank is tight, but from my view, they seemed content.

No queues on a weekday, but we snatched tickets online just to be safe. Weekends do get really busy inside where everyone is stacked up against the glass.

Oh, and bonus, they've got these cool stamps around the place for souvenirs.

Fascinating experience! I was amazed to see those beautiful sea creatures, especially whale sharks, hammerhead sharks and manta rays. I would recommend coming here around afternoon (5 p.m.) to see the whole night show with relaxing music and lights creating a dreamy environment. You will definitely enjoy it!

Great aquarium to walk around. The obvious highlight are the whale sharks. Enormous tank to house then obviously. Gentle giants swimming around captivating everyone who looks. While they steal the spotlight the rest of the complex is awesome. Fantastic experience of going around the ring of fire. If you're in Osaka make sure you make the time to visit.

So much fun! Bought and reserved our spot a month in advance. It was busy but so much fun! The aquarium is huge and takes about 2.5 hours to walk through. The whale sharks are ginormous! It is so cool to be able to see one so close. I very much enjoyed this while my family and I were visiting Osaka. Hope to be back one day!
