This Kyoto Bal selective mall shopping is really nice if u like design and exclusivity... personally we was really happy to see so much choice for different brands even starbuck which we do not like has a specific artistic painting design really attractive... if you want to have lunch gp to floor muji and discover menu set affordable and tasty...

Brilliant shopping complex with several cafes, shops and even a bookstore in the basement! There’s something for everyone here and it’s a delightful way to step off the tourist path for a bit.

My favorite cafe is Ralph’s for a delicious matcha latte. They make it just right here! Not too sweet or bitter and creamy too.

Don’t hesitate to pay this place a visit but beware, you will spend some bank notes if you do!

Love this mall as it has a wonderful aroma the minute you walk in, fantastic bathrooms on the top floor where young girls spend hours just relaxing, and absolutely delicious cafes like RH Cafe, or Ron Herman Cafe on the top floor. Also, on the very bottom floor, they have a wonderful bookstore, where one can easily spend a few hours browsing around.

Elegant, high class, department store, featuring fine restaurants, trendy pop up shops, and Maruzen bookstore in the basement, with over 1 million books. Enjoy genuine Kona coffee at a little cafe at the entrance.

High end done well. Some high end stores feel like they are cramming too much stuff into the space and it's not pleasant to shop there, but this store is spacious and a pleasure to explore.

This is the Liberty or Harvey Nichols of Japan. Like a highly select design museum.

Awesome. I love this place. Helpful staff. Uber-clean restrooms.

BAL is something unique as a department store. I feel it's trying to create brand new shopping experience for various brands and consumers. Each floor is uniquely designed and it all provides very immersive look and feel that makes you love to stay and browse. 4F MUJI restaurant is one good example and the 6F is a lovely shopping space.

The most good thing about this building isthat there is Maruzen Bookstore. It divided in 2 floors. The B1 floor and B2 floor. You can find almost every book in there. I buy books about the Muslims in Japan and Noryoku Shiken in there. In Indonesia, not all the books bought in Maruzen are available. It helped me so much. Depends on the context, you can buy these books (in my case) from 1,200 - 6,664 yen.

I enjoyed visiting the multi-floor Maruzen bookstore at Bal. It was a delight to find such a range of English books including a section on Kyoto, Japan, temples and gardens. Definitely worth a visit.

High-end shopping mall with a balanced mix of local and foreign design stores, boutiques and cafes. The highlight is the Muji cafe and store on the 4th and 5th floor.
