APA Hotel Kyoto Gion EXCELLENT

Very friendly and helpful staff greet you at the lobby on the second floor which is accessed by a lift. Very clean areas and room was quite spacious with small fridge, two water bottles, clothes hangers, hair dryer, kettle, coffee pod machine and lovely shampoos and body wash plus other items supplied. Fabulous location, very quiet rooms at night for a good sleep with blockout curtains and reasonable price. Would recommend.

Great location. All the gion district attraction ie Hanamikoji street, Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka, near by. 5 mins walks from nearest station. Shops and restaurants down the road.
hotel and room itself was great, more than we expected. Everything we need was provided. Nice view of gion district from the window was brilliant.

Located five minutes walk from Gion Shijo station, and a short walk from the temple entrance; this aged hotel offers affordable rooms, a Starbucks and Bearhug massage service in one building. It also sit in the Main Street of shops and restaurants which you will not miss. Definitely will return!

Right in the heart of the historic Gion…. My wife loves the Geiko culture and our hotel was just a a block away from the Geiko district. We were also a few meters away from the oldest tea house in Japan. If you are looking for a decent hotel to stay, recommend the APA hotel

I think it is value for money. Breakfast is ordinary. Japanese style with continental. Not too much variation. If you are on budget. I would recommend not to buy breakfast here. Otherwise good. They also upgraded me to twin beds room although I booked for single bed room.

Perfect location to experience the real deal. Just a block from Maruyama park. Good to experience the rich culture. Great breakfast (pay in advance) The staff do not speak English, which is part of the adventure of the adventure! I loved the floor to ceiling door window and the little iron balcony you can look out onto the city too.

Situated right next to Yasaka Shrine and in a lovely part of town, the rooms are small but highly functional: pressure shower, extremely comfortable bed, little amenities like toothbrushes provided, and incredibly helpful and friendly staff. Best of all: the breakfast. It's delicious. I've stayed here on both my trips to Kyoto 😁

Great hotel in fantastic location! If you want easy access to the beauty of Gion, shrines and temples then this is the place to he. So many wonderful sights in easy walking distance. Downtown and Pontocho area is also and easy walk down the road. Room was very clean, quiet and comfortable. I stayed here 7 nights and would absolutely come back again.

Great room, great level of privacy, and everything exceeded our expectations. Staff level of English was poor but wasn't an issue for our needs. Great location with shops down the road, shrines and temples up the road, and a Starbucks right by the front door. Would definitely stay here again, although I think it might be expensive. I don't know as someone else paid for me to stay.

We went up to the restaurant on the second floor for lunch on a rainy Sunday afternoon and were more than pleasantly surprised at the quality and quantity of food here. It was 9000 yen for 5 people at an all-you-can-eat buffet. We were also served several kinds of tempura right at our table, and they had many different kinds of dessert alongside a chocolate fountain. Most foods are labeled with an allergy label that shows if it contains common allergens like nuts, egg, or gluten, which was also in English. The food names were not always in English but are pretty easy to identify most times. It was not a busy place for lunch but was absolutely delicious and filled us all up. Recommended!

Excellent service with clear instructions for our stay. The bed was amazingly comfortable but the pillow was too flat for me. We were given a bottle of water if we chose not to have room service, awesome idea!

The best place to stay in Kyoto in my opinion. Just next to Gion and Yasaka Shrine. If your room is facing the street you get very nice views. During the news year eve, I suggest that those staying here take a peep out of the window at 1159am! Facilities were awesome and I had a good stay here.

The staff were crazy helpful and really went to bat for us when a 6.1 magnitude earthquake shattered our remaining vacation plans. The neighborhood is kind of like a theme park, and restaurants are hard to find if you don't know to read the directories in front of each building. Remember, none of the food here is on street level!

This is my go-to hotel for Kyoto. Highly recommended.

The rooms were good size for two with overhead size luggage. No sense of overcrowded. Its located on the touristy part of Kyoto so expect crowds

Location is very accessible to many local attractions such as Teramachi, Nishiki market Kamo River. Located in the heart of Kyoto's Geisha district, Gion. Many preserved traditional buildings for the cultural tourists. Also near many shopping malls, Daimaru, Takashimaya etc. Room is bigger than typical hotel in Tokyo. Space for opening luggage available. Service is excellent.
