Shinkyogoku Shopping Street Union

We discovered this place by random. Many shops selling bags, hats, snacks etc. It's about 500m long, very wide and clean, hence it provides good shopping experience. Wish to be able to spend more time here.

A great place to shop, there are some trendy stores etc. Very busy but traffic still flows well. Also has some great food stores 👌🏽

Fantastic place for souvenirs and just wandering. Clean tidy and covered, so great for any weather. It is huge, goes on for ever in all directions. Even some shrines tucked inside. Well worth visiting. Can get busy, early morning and early evenings were less crowded.

It is a covered shopping arcade like there are similar in Tokyo, Osaka and I believe in many other Japanese cities, whose most precise name is Shinkyogoku-dori street. It is part of the central city area, between the two large Shijo and Kawaramachi arteries where there are other large shopping centers.
I have been many times in this gallery. The most striking thing is that you find lots of places to eat and lots of street food. In this area there is also the famous Nishiki Market. These shopping centers, especially in August, are very useful to escape from the terrible heat and catch your breath. Around there are 7 temples among which I remember Myoshin - ji and the Anyo - ji temple.

Tons of shops down several streets with many items to offer. Alot of walking involved.

In modern days, known as the City of Souvenirs, many shops within the shopping arcade. Restaurant, souvenir shop, Japanese sweets and pickles and many more.

T-shirt and kimono also a popular souvenirs among the tourists. After a long walk to shop for gifts there are plenty of Japanese restaurants, coffee houses and dessert shops to drop by.

It’s also a place for those who prefer to get a few traditional gifts. If that’s not enough Nishiki Market is just a stone throw away across the street.

Pack with lots of food to try, and there is alot of people. Be cautious about your belongings and be early too.

We came at lunch during the rush and the owner was super accommodating! The food came very quickly, and it was super delicious! Amazing. Definitely come here!

You can find anything and everything! From food, fashion and entertainment you will find it all!

This place has so many of my best memories

Huge shopping area in Kyoto has a little bit of everything. From restuaraunts, arcades, clothing shops, to mom and pop food stands. Gets super busy around noon- like shoulder to shoulder no room to move busy. Come early or come later in the day.

A nice place to visit. Even just to take pictures and selfies.
