Hotel Muso

Excellent hotel tucked away on a quiet street but close to a bus stop and a 15 min walk to Pontocho and Gion area. The room was spacious, clean, and very modern. A free breakfast is delivered to your room each morning. The manager was super kind and helped make sure our bags were delivered to our next hotel. Highly recommend!

We stayed in the Muso hotel for three nights with my husband and my adult daughter in the family unit. We were visiting our daughter, who lives in Osaka, Japan, and had a beautiful stay at this hotel.
The place is unbelievable. It's in the very heart of Kyoto; it has five-star amenities, and the price is very reasonable.
The location is right in the middle of everything, on a quiet, picturesque street.
The unit was gorgeous, with two rooms, a nice sitting area, and a kitchenette.
Ito, the customer service person, was incredibly helpful and nice. Good English, as well. Later, we met the supervisor, who was very pleasant and helpful.
They have a rooftop place for breakfast (which is very satisfying) and coffee with a nice view of Kyoto.
I'm traveling to Japan in March and have already booked a room for me and my daughter in the Muse Hotel.
I highly recommend the place to anybody! It feels like a real home in the heart of Kyoto.

Outright the best small hotel I've ever stayed at. We stayed at the suite and it was so spacious. The hotel room was high tech, from its door mechanism to its toilet that opens up as you open the door and auto flushes. The bathroom was spacious with a couple sink and complete with a jacuzzi to help re-energize you after long days sightseeing around Kyoto. The location of Hotel Muso is also very central, with Nishiki Market and Gion being a few blocks away, 7-Eleven across the street and lots and lots of local eateries around the hotel. Cannot recommend this hotel enough and will definitely book this hotel on our next visit to Kyoto.

The BEST hotel I have stayed at in Japan!

I had a lovely experience at Hotel Muso in Kyoto. My partner and I stayed there for 3 nights and were welcomed so warmly. The hospitality at Hotel Muso is exceptional and all staff members are so friendly. The service feels very boutique! The room we booked was spacious, clean with a large bathroom as well. The staff members also accompanied us to transport luggage from one hotel to the next if needed which was so helpful. I would definitely stay at Hotel Muso again and would recommend it to anyone!

Hospitalty is unmatched
Ryo san and Staff are nice and good in English. The room was larger than average for Japanese standard , amenity from Replica and mineral water made hotel look luxury . Also have a light breakfast and coffee on the rooftop is so relaxing in the morning. We regretted we move to another hotel instead of staying at Muso for the whole time in Kyoto. We will 100% return on our next trip.

Excellent hotel!!! Walking distance from several main attractions in Kyoto. It's very quiet too - - you cannot hear other guests in your room. The staff are incredibly kind and helpful. Amenities in the room are excellent-- very large shower, very large tub, refrigerator, etc. A must stay while you're in Kyoto!! I'm very glad we booked here.

My brother and I went. The staff has really good English and were very welcoming. Very memorable hotel. He let us check in early and walked with us to make sure the room was clean. The cleaners were very nice as well. The room came with breakfast which was also nice. Nicest bathroom I’ve seen in Japan as well. Location is convenient . About 15 minute walk from high street.

The hospitality experienced at Hotel Muso was unmatched. The gentleman at the front desk stayed till 11pm just to greet us when he should’ve left by 7pm. Rooms were spacious, clean and modern. I loved the bathroom and toilet. Quality water bottles were provided and breakfast was included. At check-out, we opted to extend with a daytime use room, and the rate was very reasonable. Walking distance to everything and a 7-11 konbini next door. I would stay here again!

We stayed here for 2 nights while we were in Kyoto. The blokes at the reception were very friendly and kindly kept our luggage for 3 days before our check in date as we sent them in advance from our hotel in Tokyo. The room is modern and bigger than most hotel rooms in Japan. The bath has a standing shower and a tub that could fit 2 people. The location is excellent if you enjoy walking, it is around 10 minutes to the nearest train station and river with cherry blossoms, 30 minutes to Kiyomizu dera and is surrounded by restaurants, convenience stores, bike rental shop and laundromat. The breakfast was yum and they provided bottled water everyday. I definitely recommend staying here!

I stayed at a number of hotels on my recent visit to Japan and Hotel Muso was by far the best. Gorgeous rooms in a great location in Kyoto. The staff were all so lovely and went out of their way to help and make sure we were comfortable and to have a conversation. We also received a yummy breakfast and coffee to our room every morning. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Kyoto.

We stayed in this wonderful hotel for our honeymoon and... what a stay it was! The hotel staff (Ryo, Yusuke, we miss you!!❤🥲) is so kind, professional and welcoming, filled us with amazing tips and recommendations (and good coffee and tea!). The hotel room was spectacular (especially the bathroom) and extremely clean! Hotel Muso is hands down the best hotel in Kyoto, we almost teared up leaving what it felt almost like home!❤🥲 Ichigo Ichie, see you in five years! ❤

Hotel Muso is an exceptional hotel. The room is decorated with very nice furniture and finishes. It feels like a 5 star resort. The manager and staff really made us feel special and made sure our stay was perfect. They even stock the refrigerator every day with complimentary beverages. The breakfast and coffee on the rooftop deck was wonderful.  This is our favorite hotel in Japan and will be where we stay anytime we are in Kyoto

I would give the service 100 if I could. Rooms were incredible, and the experience uniquely japanese, and only a short 10 minutes walk from the main streets around Nishiki. However, the best thing was the amazing service by Ryuuska-san (I'm probably mispronouncing, sorry about that!), which was at the reception and did above and beyond to help make us feel comfortable, and assist in every way. One of the best hotel experiences I had, thank you!

Fantastic boutique hotel in great location near Gion. Room was so much spacious and comfortable. Walking distances to so many good restaurant. Staff were so helpful and went out of their way to help. Highly recommended and will definitely stay again when visiting Kyoto in the future.

This is absolutely best service🪄 rooms are clean, staff is so attentive. All the details are incredible. Feels like home here. I will definitely stay here again next time I’m in Kyoto. Can’t recommend enough.

The owner is extremely kind, and gave us a personal list of food recommendations for the area. The room was large and clean, with an open concept, big beds, and a two person tub. Breakfast was served to our room every day, and the room cleaning was superb.
Excellent location near Gion, shopping, and transit.

100/10 The best hotel I stayed at in Japan (and USA) for the price.

The space: Spacious room size with a couch/tv in the living space and comfy bed. A kitchenette with sink, kettle, coffee machine, and mini fridge. Tub that can fit two people, and separate standing shower. Two sinks & ample counter space. A toilet that automatically opens when you enter the bathroom and plays a song while you do your do 🤣. What more can you want!

The staff/service: Hospitality is unmatched, very kind and accommodating staff. Top notch! Treated us so well, I thought I was VIP. Speaks english & tourist friendly. Introduction to the space was comprehensive and offered great local recommendations for food, transportation, and shopping. Provided ample amenities including REPLICA toiletries 👏. Served the cutest breakfast with cafe drink choice at their rooftop.

Very much recommend this hotel! 6/5, I wish I can give more stars. Exceeded my expectations and I plan to come here again during my next visit to Kyoto.

Me and my husband just stayed two nights at Hotel Muso and we regretted we moved to another hotel instead of staying at Muso for the whole time in Kyoto. Ryo san and the receptionist staff are so nice, they have helped us with finding our ways around the area and always go beyond every time we need something. The hotel is very modern and perfectly new with nice Japanese elements. The room is spacious and has a very good floor plan design compared to most of the other hotels in Japan. The huge jacuzzi is a big bonus point after a long day of sightseeing. Also, having a light breakfast and coffee on the rooftop is so relaxing in the morning. It will be my number 1 hotel in Kyoto from now on and I can’t wait to be back!

Hotel Muso was by far our best hotel during our 3-week trip to Japan.
Mr. Ryo-San as well as the entire hotel staff was incredibly accommodating and helpful.
The room was larger than average for Japanese standards, and also very modern and well equipped. The location of the hotel is perfect and there are many very good restaurants, bars and cafes within easy reach. Also, you can quickly get to bus and train to reach the attractions of Kyoto. But the most extraordinary thing was really the incredibly respectful and warm treatment in the hotel.
Every visitor to Kyoto should choose Hotel Muso and we will 100% return on our next trip.
