Jinpyokaku Honten

Our stay here was amazing! The Onsen in our room was absolutely the best one I've ever been in, and there on-site public Onsen is also fantastic! Unlike other Onsens that claim to be pure but are often not, this place 100% pure hot springs water right from the ground. The staff are very friendly, helpful and fun to chat with. Last but certainly not least was the food. Your stay includes both breakfast and dinner, with a pre-fixed menu. The breakfasts are a huge array of options and dinner is a 4 course dinner. With limited restaurants nearby this makes staying here very appealing. The room is a traditional Japanese style, very well maintaned and beautiful.

Amazing place to stay. Just six rooms, all but one with private onsen, plus a large outdoor public one if you want to bathe under the stars. Dinner and breakfast were amazingly good, featuring local ingredients like trout and apples. Staff was incredibly friendly and drove us to and from the train station. About a 40 minute walk to the snow monkey park.

The staff here is exceedingly friendly and the food is fantastic! Very traditional style ryokan, lovely room and ambiance. We got one of the rooms with a private onsen (hot tub) which is nice, but actually we found the public onsen here was completely empty, so we had the whole thing to ourselves! Great to sit and soak at night, sipping on cold soba tea, basking in the quiet peace as snow lightly falls on you. Fantastic romantic getaway and it's very close to the snow monkey park where you can watch monkeys bathing in onsens during the winter. They will also loan you snow boots for free! This ryokan along with the monkey park was my favorite experience of my trip to Japan!

I was blown away by the care and attention to detail provided by the owner and her staff. The tatami room and private onsen was like having my own personal spa. Bathing in the public onsen with falling snow was such a treat.

素敵な宿です。混浴は俗なことを考えてしまいそうになりますが到ってマジメに入れます。
This inn has 120 years of history, and Yasunari Kawabata (won the Nobel Prize for Literature) and Soseki Natsume (was on the 1000 JPY bill before) also stayed at this inn to write.
The highlight of this inn is the spa, of course! This inn uses 100% fresh spring water and does not recycle it. They have separate men's and women's indoor spas, and an open-air women's bath, and surprisingly, an open-air mixed-gender bath. It was the first time for me as well to soak in the mixed-gender bath. If you are brave, try it once in your life time??
In the mixed-gender bath, a woman can wear a simple wear to hide your breasts and hip, but a man cannot wear anything. There are only 6 rooms in this inn, so there are not many chances to meet people in the spa... but I was embarrassed a little. (An old lady was soaking in the mixed-gender bath totally naked, and said that nobody was looking and no worry! She was awesome :) )
The dinner and breakfast were good, too.

Jinpyokaku Honten is beautiful in every way and I can’t recommend it more highly. If you stay here, you will be very fortunate. From the warmth of Michiko’s welcome to the exquisite, peaceful and very comfortable interiors, to the delicious and beautiful food (presentation and taste something else, even by Japan standards) to the onsen (Heaven). The quiet forest surrounds make for lovely walks. We met the lady owner at the end and she was beautiful, elegant and full of love. I can’t help feeling the whole of Jinpyokaku Honten has been blessed by her touch.

While I don't have anything to compare it to, this ryokan is truly fantastic. Multiple public onsens on the grounds, a private onsen in our room, and some of the most memorable and exquisite fine dining (kaiseki) that we had during our entire trip to Japan. We would definitely come back!

Words cannot do this beautiful spa justice. If you are looking for an authentic & relaxing Japanese experience this is the best place to come. Everything detail is here. The facilties are superb and the food which is prepared by the owner is a once in lifetime experience I will always remember fondly.

It's a very good japanese Ryokan with a long history.
With only 6 rooms the public Onsen in this Ryokan aren't very busy and you can enjoy it without other guests. The staff is also very friendly and speaks English very well.

The best hotel/ryokan experience ever! Super friendly and attentive staff. The food experience was like none other. Definitely one of those memories that will be cherished.

何十年なるのかしら？毎年一年始まりそちらで過ごさせていただいています。

最初の頃は私はお嫁さんで主人実家帰りに泊まらせていただいたり、途中からはお墓参り往復目的で雪道往復、そちらを起点させていただきました。

いまは動物愛護推進員のため保護猫(飼い猫)御世話もあり一年に一度となりましたが、日本の畳こたつ文化にほっこりさせていただいています。温泉、女将の手作り料理。奇を衒う絢爛豪華は望まない私達には昭和時代懐かしい食器も楽しみの一つでもあります。朝の小箱朝食は母が大好きです。

いつもいつもお帰りなさいと言っていただけるようなスタッフ皆様の会話が恵みです。

旅館の歴史も日本文学にでて来る有り様。川端康成お泊り日記など何よりも良家育ちの大女将の素朴な料理含めて所作にいつもいつも癒やされています。

お会いできる日を楽しみにしております。
日本の素朴な空間、家庭料理、源泉かけ流し温泉がおすすめポイントな宿です。

自然を身近に感じられる落ち着いた場所にあります。
料理も美味しく、お風呂も気持ち良いです。
ただ、お風呂は、直接源泉（地獄谷の上流）から引いているらしく、かなり熱い（体感50℃以上?)時があります。天候や外気温、火山活動等によって源泉温度が急上昇するらしいです。こうなると必死で湯もみをしても効果が無いので、個室のお風呂は諦めて、大浴場でお風呂に入るしかないです。

女将の愛情たっぷりのお料理、温かい接客、心地よい温泉、古いながらも清潔な客室。豪華絢爛さを求める人には合わないかもしれないけど、私たちはとても素敵な時間を過ごさせていただきました。朝ごはんの採れたての栗ごはん美味しかった〜

また是非伺いたいと思います！

客室の温泉はぬるい方ですが、そのため長く楽しめました。
大浴場のドライヤーがダイソンなのが良かったです。
食事もおいしかったです

源泉掛け流しのお風呂と地元の食材を活かした女将さん手作りのお食事が、最高に贅沢でした⭐
城崎や有馬に負けずとも劣らない温泉♨
夏目漱石などの著名人が訪れた場所に、自分が居ることも、何だか不思議な感覚になる旅館でした。
次は雪が積もる季節に宿泊したいですね♪

長野県下高井群山ノ内町にある塵表閣本店へ宿泊してきました！

お宿は落ち着いた離れ客室が中心の創業1901年の老舗旅館！なんとお部屋は6室のみとなっています❄

夏目漱石、与謝野晶子、林芙美子、川端康成など数多くの文人墨客や、武人、政治家などさまざまな方々に愛されていたとあって、どこかタイムスリップした気分に🥰✨

前日の大雪もあって極寒のステイとなりましたが、掛け流し温泉に入ったり、女将さんの手作りお料理が並びお腹もいっぱい！とても満足できました〜😋特に嬉しかったのがお布団の中に湯たんぽが用意されたこと！！！最初我が家のワンコ🐶がいると思ったら湯たんぽだったんだもの笑　寒い季節に湯たんぽが用意されているのは女将さんの気遣い伺え、何よりも温かい気持ちになりました❣

「また来たいね」とお母さんも大満足の様子でした！またお世話になりたいと思います。優雅な時間をありがとうございました☺

このご時世の関係で急遽、この宿を選んだのですが、コロナ感染予防対策もしっかりしていました。
30分ほど早く着いてしまったのですが、宿の方が駐車場に居るのに気付き、早くお部屋に案内してくれました。
部屋は離れの二階で、広く、昔ながらの味もありとても過ごしやすかったです。
もちろんお値段はそこそこしましたが、それ相応のサービス、くつろぎ感があり良かったです。
部屋風呂も源泉かけ流しでとても気持ちの良いものでした。もちろん、露天風呂や大きな温泉もあります。
今、円実の博物館がやってないのが残念でした。

昭和レトロな素敵な場所でした。懐かしみたい時はまた来ます！ご飯も温泉も良かったです！皆さまも温かいおもてなしに感謝です。スキー場も猿の地獄谷も近くて良い場所でした。ありがとうございました。
