Shiga Kogen Prince Hotel

Good access to surrounding slopes (with ALL mountain pass) plenty of cafes while skiing.
Very pretty around Prince west.
Very little to do on rest days.
Wifi is the worst I’ve experienced.
Food is buffet Japanese and western.
Cheaper drinks are down stairs at the ramen restaurant out of the machine.
There’s nowhere to walk
Get comfortable with the bus service and explore the 1300 year old onsen town (bus stop S07-01) $9.00 each way.

Very nice ski resort. It’ll take one more hour from Karuizawa and no train access but, this is the top of the area so the snow are relatively better.
Prince hotel also provide a free family snow park with plenty of toys for those who could not ski

Nice resort , great snow, Do make sure you have snow tires or snow chain on tires if you are visiting in winter .

Not sure why the public bath opening time is so short , hope the opening hours can be extended .

The snow monkey park is worth visiting too .

Will be back again .

Loooove coming to the Prince Hotel for ski trips with the family. Rooms are a little small, almost like dorm rooms! When going to this hotel for skiing or boarding, it is best to go on a tour with multiple people. Skiing is so much cheaper than back in the states. When grabbing food, our group came with breakfast and dinner vouchers. During lunch, you can purchase 1000 yen vouchers based on the types of lift tickets you buy! I enjoyed going to the onsen after a long day on the slopes. Although the rules say tattoos are not allowed, they are not strictly enforced. Just please be respectful!

Really neat place, it is mostly Japanese families and very limited number of european tourists whichbwas great for a change. The hotel has everything you need (gear rental, food etc). They offer onsen which are an interesting experience that i highly recommend, especially after a long day on the slopes. Ski in, ski out. So many fields that are accessible from there.

Cosy sleeping arrangements that have everything you need. The heated floors a awesome.
Has a nice outdoor onsen.
The morning curry at breakfast was a big hit every morning.
The local beers are a must have after a days worth of snow fun.
Staff are friendly and super helpful.

Sato San 佐藤小姐 at the front desk is very very very helpful and resourceful. Even though we have many requests, she patiently provide us with information we needed. She even took extra steps to confirm our restaurant reservation. Mostly importantly, she did all these pleasantly with smile on her face all the time. Thank You

For any Aussie’s heading to prince shiga to chase some good snow I want to say the following

We stayed in the south wing

The rooms were great , good hot shower , big enough beds, a table to have a few drinks with comfy chairs - great view of the slopes and modest size tv and fridge - not five star but very comfy and cosy

The buffet breakfast was a highlight everyday to fuel up for a days skiing, good variety.

The ski lockers were great

The gondola straight from the bottom level to the top was unreal

The shop on the bottom level stocked a good range of soft drinks water beers and vodka and even bottles of whiskey along with the chips and chocolates and ice cube pack for drinks

The staff were fantastic even with the language barrier to advise us on getting on busses to get to other mountains for boarding.

The prince shuttle bus to ichinose an other wings ran like clock work. Each day we caught the 5 o’clock bus to ichinose and returned at 7 from ichinose enough time to have a few drinks and eat - plenty of food options in ichinose and at a good price

We ate the prince west buffet one night at it was a great feed with all you can eat food an soft drink and coffee and well worth your 50 bucks Australian

The ski resort gave me the two best powder days I have ever boarded and that’s after 15 years of trips , big long runs , powder bowls , a really good steep black run and no lines for the gondolas all week .

I will return to shiga prince south again in 2022 to do it all over again

Don’t read into the bad reviews , yes it is a old
Building etc but it has been well maintained , clean , polite staff if you are serious about getting hours in on the mountain with ease and enjoying a few drinks and dinner at night you will get what your looking for at shiga prince .

Unreal trip

Stayed at Shiga Kogenfor a ski holiday. The restaurant at Shiga Kogen Prince Hotel West is by far the best in value. With a paranomic view at the ski slope, it's an unforgettable experience.
