One of the best ski resort in Japan. Famous Japanese powder snow. Not crowded at all, food and stay at prince hotel was great! Very reasonable priced lift tickets.

Slopes are wide and not crowded on weekdays. This is at Shiga Kogen Yakebitaiyama Ski Area. We stayed at Prince Hotel and truly is a ski in and ski out convenient hotel.

Came here for the first time and it is a great experience! All the slopes are pretty good to go on and the amount of pistes here are vast.

No finer place on earth for snow. I wish they'd spend the off season fixing the elevation charges coming off lifts. Too much up hill walking to get back to gravity. BUT, with the exchange rate, no better place to be

Beautiful driving road. We came in Sping (May) and the weather was slightly overcast. Still snow on the ground. Quite a few cyclists riding up to the summit. Recommend for a nice drive in the spring and obviously to come to ski in the winter.

Total gem of a Ski resort. Such a quiet resort. No lift queues at all! Plenty of variety for all experience levels. Food options were reasonably priced, but only really Japanese food on offer.

My one negative about Shiga Kogen is there are no supermarkets/7-11/Conbini in the entire resort. So if you want to cook food yourself you must take food in advance.

Amazing mountains.
Ski resort all over the place.
Superbs roads ideal for cycling when it is too hot in the lower land.
The view is spectacular.
Great variety of flowers and birds.
Plenty of onsen in the area makes it an ideal base for winter or summer.
Highly recommended!

The ski in ski out prince hotel at the bottom of mt yakebi is amazing with their cosy rooms and picturesque views. It is the most convenient ski resort to stay at. Family friendly and a great small mountain to explore

Probably the biggest ski resort in Japan. Amazing wide runs, with plenty off-piste options. Lift tickets are about 6500¥ for a full day, the restaurants are great and one can make use of the travel subsidy and get some coupons as well (upto 3000¥).
Totally recommend this.

IT'S JAPAN'S BIGGEST SKI AREA!! Do I need to say more. Ok, I will. I saw snow monkeys from the chairlift; and one was chilling in the parking lot (picture attached).

This place is so huge, you will drive along (and occasionally under) the slopes for nearly a half an hour from end to end. Bombing the runs at full speed, it will take you almost your entire day to make it from one end to the other and back to your car.

There is some unusual terrain to be found here: runs built on man-made wooden corkscrewing catwalks, ski runs through tunnels (with stoplights), chairlifts over a road, awesome slackcountry (cutting the corners on cattracks), not to mention Nagano's epic powder. Oh yeah, there's an Olympic run as well.

You can come here for powder or groomers, however it''s not a backcountry place. It's size meant that on the last day of my season, in April, on the last run to the car, I was hitting untouched knee deep powder as the gondola closed. Now that's saying something!

Amazing slopes with many connected runs and lovely traditional feeling hotels and onsen. Fantastic place.

Awesome skiing! Ski resort is really a several mountains that are really well connected. Definitely Japanese feeling ski resort. Slopes range from beginners to expert but most of them are intermediate. They do a decent job grooming the slopes so you can truly enjoy the mountain. They also have night skiing. The only thing that I did not like is that accommodations are pretty bad but if you are just coming for skiing you’ll love it.

Shiga has a great year every year if you are looking to snowboard or ski. Lots of snow and lots of options. There is no lack of lifts and run in the valley. If you can’t find what you are looking for here, maybe you need to stop. Great for family, groups, couples and even puppies.

Great place and people, amazing ski resort and brilliant food. Lunches are the best in the area east to get to different sides of the mountains, lifts everywhere. More for intermediate and beginners as not much off track snow trails. Highly recommend, definitely staying here again.

A great diverse ski area with pretty much every area interconnected on a single ticket, bar one. Fully recommend a visit & with the cheapest lift tickets around, we paid $86 Senior for 3 days through our accommodation.
A great area made up up many different resorts & well worth a visit. You can also drop in on the Snow Monkeys on the way up or down the mountain
