Okay, so I know Japanese people are humble, but I tell you what this place was phenomenal! The owner is lovely. The food feels like it’s home cooked. The bread is baked by their staff! Highly recommended!!

Vegetable curry rice and stewed pork don were superb along with its home-made banana cake and drinks have made this meal a wonderful dining experience. Staff are friendly and can speak little English!

A charming, friendly restaurant that serves excellent coffee and a really great lunch plate. Their curry is also very popular. English evenings are organised once every month.

I had a vegan burger set and it was so good! I really love the burger and the soup, their Koji bread is pretty good too. And they also have a staff who can speak English so you don’t need to worry if your Japanese is not so good yet.

I had the Koji bread plate lunch set. Along with the bread, it came with salad, quiche and a bowl of soup. The bread was freshly made, warm and the cream cheese went great with it! Everything on that plate was delicious! Later I ordered a parfait. I had the adult parfait (with rum added to it). I don't think parfaits are their speciality but it was still pretty good with lots of chocolate pieces! They also have vegan/vegetarian menu!

A very eclectic little cafe that's a little out of the way and full of weird knick knacks and vintage objects of all kinds. The food was very filling with handmade breads and nice portion sizes at quite good prices. The coffee was pretty good (i'm Australian, so I have a high standard) though they don't really keep the options open for non dairy drinkers, so just be aware of that.
A cozy little place with friendly staff that is definitely worth a visit.

Rustic cafe in an old machiya. Delicious home cooked meals - the vegetable curry was excellent, followed by affogado coffee. A great place to read, knit, and/or work. German-style fig and walnut bread is delicious too and available to take home.

Cosy café with French and German bread and pastry in addition to some more traditional Japanese meals. They have vegan and vegetarian options as well, which is rare in Japan. We stayed at a guesthouse in the area and had breakfast here almost everyday. Their homemade koji bread lunch plate is really good! I could not consume milk products when we visited here and the lady who runs the place was very nice in offering alternatives to their set menus. I was given a very nice jam instead of yoghurt to have with my bread.
You must try their ginger-apple tea if you go here! It is a must!

Amazing breakfast place with options for dietary restrictions and English menu. Relaxing live music (not sure of the schedule but I went on Sunday morning).

I had the veggie burger. I believe that it may rank with the best vegan lunch in Kyoto. The soup was complex and intriguing. The koji bread was baked at the cafe and was delicious. The chick pea patty was tasty and moist. The salad was fresh and diverse with a delicious vinaigrette. But the whole ensemble swung together like a good jazz piece. There is a small antiques space at the rear of the cafe that offers pieces for sale. The staff is small and very friendly. Highly recommended!

I had a vegan burger plate and it was so good and filling. It was only 980yen! Veggies cooked and seasoned perfectly and the burger patty had full of tasty beans. They make their own bread and it was beautifully made with love!

Excellent food in a small & cozy cafe with a variety of seating. The food is German-inspired: great sausages and very good bread! The owners are friendly and the place feels very inviting for a quiet chat in the afternoon.

Oh my goodness, this Cafe has the best ambiance of any Cafe I've ever been to here in Kyoto. also, looks like every Wednesday night from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. is English night, so I might try to go again and try that out.
They specialize in homemade breads, which were just a divine, mine came with a lemon spread that was also homemade, incredible.
It's an old Japanese style house, open ceiling, beautiful views. just a lovely place with an amazingly comfortable feel. Couches, open floor plan, just a lovely building. You can pay with cash or credit, or a variety of apps. English menu as well if you need it and are interested! Highly recommended!

Really good cafe with vegetarian options. They made their own bread which is quite tasty. They also seem to organize a lot of events!

The bread here is phenomenal! The food is delicious, and the staff are so polite and welcoming. They also have an English menu and you can buy small loaves of bread to take back to your hotel. Sure beats a late night snack from the konbini. My only regret is that I came upon them late in my trip.
