Serene, larger than expected park in the middle of the city; follow marked route for best experience & should take about an hour at a leisurely pace. For an additional nominal amount you can visit the attached art museum, but the park is definitely the star. You can also buy food to feed the koi (carp), and blossoms are currently out. There’s a small bamboo forest, and the only tree to survive the atomic bomb. Recommended.

One of the most beautiful places I've been in my multiple visits to Japan.

The landscape of this garden is really something amazing and it has remained the same for the last 400 years.

It feels like exploring a small world with mountains, rivers, bridges, woods, waterfalls.

The garden was restored after WW2 while keeping the original shape, and the only tree that survived the A-bomb still lives inside of it.

We visited this beautiful garden in Hiroshima and even got a private free tour led by this very nice volunteer. We learned a lot and were impressed by the beauty of this garden. There were even trees that survived the bombing in 1945!
This garden is absolutely worth a visit.

Visiting these gardens at night was a mesmerizing experience. The lighting added an enchanting touch, making the koye (autumn leaves) even more special, casting a magical ambiance over the entire place. And here's a tip: don't miss out on savoring a glass of warm sake at the end of your tour. It's the perfect finale to an already breathtaking experience amidst the illuminated beauty of these gardens.

I don't have any expectation to this Japanese garden at first. I charged my mind after my visit. It's a gorgeous garden which has a long history. There's a guided route to show you it's true beauty of lake and the plant.

Beautiful. Definitely worth a visit and you can walk the whole garden in around 30 mins. Lots of fish and crabs to see also. There's a little Cafe for food and coffee but it's cash only.

Relaxing Japanese garden with different areas. I especially liked the bamboo garden. There is also the possibility to get Japanese green tea or food inside. Perfect for a little break. I would recommend more or less one hour to get around the lake taking your time and enjoying!

We went at night which was a magical experience with the illuminated autumn leaves. Entrance was 260¥ each. We also had a hot sake at the bar in the park, a really great experience!!

It is a nice and well-maintained garden to walk around in. There are fish that jump around in the lake and some streams that are nice to hear and watch. The plants and scenery are pleasant on the eyes. I would recommend visiting the garden at least once and just take a peaceful and relaxing walk around the area.

Love this place so much that i facetimed my family to show them.
It was stunning. The fish swam up to everyone, hoping for some snacks. There were many turtles and beautiful fish.
Highly recommend 👌

A peaceful and serene garden in Hiroshima not far from the Hiroshima Castle and adjacent to the museum of art. There's many facets to this garden that make for a nice viewing experience.

Pretty Garden in the heart of the city. There are guides around who offer free tours through the location and know lots about its history - very recommended! While we were visiting, we saw a freshly married couple doing their wedding photos there.

One of the things that left best experience on me while visiting Japan. This park is great. From all the great pictures that you can take, to the point where you can relax and enjoy all your senses# especially view of the park, lake, all the colorful fish, view on the city from park, all the history, and while hear, you can not even imagine that anything happen to this place during ww2. This garden is a reminder for all of us that we can be one of the best and mort beautiful things and it doesn't matter what happened before..

A green oasis in Hiroshima’s city centre! Beautiful and well-maintained beyond belief ( especially for my -more used to- EU standards). An amazing place to enjoy a stroll, calm down and relax from our more hectic rhythms of life. Must visit really!

This was one of my favourite places we visited on our whole trip to Japan. It was the only place were we found variegated cherry blossoms and trees with branches of different coloured blossoms. They were amazing. The calm while walking around the water and feeding the fish was lovely. The bamboo forest on the far side, the bridges over the water, the rows of sakura - everything brought a sense of calm. We were there at the end of the day, so it was pretty quiet and relatively tourist-light, which added to the positive experience. I just wish I had twice the amount of time to enjoy the place.

Absolutely beautiful garden that is a must-see for anyone in Hiroshima. It’s well maintained and the staff are more than happy to chat whilst dropping golden nuggets of information.
I was recommended by some Americans I ran into whilst travelling and I’m soo glad that I did as I wouldn’t have known about this little oasis.

Shukkeien Garden is a traditional Japanese-style garden that was designed based on its pond in the middle. The garden has multiple areas such as a man-made hill, bamboo area, tea garden, etc. While walking around the pond, I was surprised to see fish jumping out of the water occasionally. The garden is quiet and relaxing and definitely worth a visit.

The history of the garden is not a happy story. It was totally destroyed during WWII by an atomic bomb before rebuilt and became the current garden. You can still find memorials and trees that survived the horrible event inside the park.

This was a great surprise, a very very beautiful garden that is easy to walk around in over an hour. For 100 yen you can buy fish food for the carp and turtles!
