Truly remarkable memorial and reminder of a darker time in the world’s history. The dome is impressively still standing despite being essential at ground zero of the bomb detonating. Area is open 24 hours but the building is gated off given the rubble from the blast that is still present. Worth a quick trip to see even if you only have an hour. No need for tickets unless you want to join a tour group.

Surreal experience to see a building that is still standing from the atomic bomb. Standing along the river was a very pensive moment for me. It's very peaceful just to listen to nature, the town isn't very loud at this spot. It made me reflect about how far Hiroshima has advanced going from this monument to the city it is now.

An entirely humbling experience to stand where such terrible events occurred. This museum was extremely informative and impactful and I would highly recommend it to anybody visiting the area. This museum will live in my heart and mind for many years to come. It goes over the history of Hiroshima before, during, and after the events that transpired. It really helped me learn a lot.

Incredibly impactful and haunting monument, now a UNESCO world heritage sight. Signs are informative - take an extra moment to walk around the memorial building/park and read everything. It’s a somber memorial and stark reminder of the horrific capabilities of mankind - an emotional and moving space that leaves a profound impact.

a historical place worth to visit and so easy access.
We can walk and enjoy the view by the river too.
I was visiting at August (before the ceremony), so there was a lot of tents and chairs prepared for the ceremony.
Next time I will go inside the museum.

Haunting monument that has been preserved as a testament to the atomic bombing of Hiroshima on 8/6/45.

Really crazy experience walking here knowing what happened on that day. It’s also crazy that the city around this thing has been built up to the stage it is in today.

I think everyone should visit here. Would make the world a more peaceful place knowing the unnecessary suffering that conflicts have on humanity.

A good place to visit and just remember all that has happened to bring us to this place in time. The gardens are clean, large, and quiet. The sight of the singed dome makes one almost tearful of what humanity can do. But taking in the city around us makes us also remember how we can rebuild and make a place alive again.

Located next to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Museum. The dome was the only structure left after the atomic bomb was dropped on August 6, 1945. It's been preserved throughout the years as it is a reminder of the sheer destruction, but also symbolizes hope and peace.

Be sure to walk to see the done when visiting the Park or Museum.

The parks, gardens and art works are a soothing comfort after the moving and harrowing peace museum. The free peace guides are an opportunity to talk to locals about the impact of the A-bomb. This is a must see it has been sensitively done focused on the impact on civilians especially children.

The place was very eerie and depressing knowing that hundreds and thousands have died there more than 70 years ago. The dome was well preserved and it will surely give you a glimpse of what happened in the past. A must-see location when you visit Hiroshima.

One reminder of the terrible effects of the atomic bombs, which took place on August 6, 1945, during World War II, is the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park. The Genbaku Dome, also called the Hiroshima Peace Memorial, is the focal point of the park. Originally an iconic structure, it now serves as a skeleton reminder of the devastation the bomb wreaked. Its astonishingly intact structure stands in the middle of the devastation as a testament to resiliency, hope, and the pressing need for peace.

Visitors can see a variety of memorials, statues, and monuments honoring the bombing victims as they stroll through the park. The names of everyone who died as a result of the bombing are inscribed on the Memorial Cenotaph, which is designed like an arch and serves as an enduring memorial to their memory. The Flame of Peace burns brilliantly as a plea for worldwide nuclear disarmament; it will only go out when all nuclear weapons are eliminated from the planet.

There are several museums in the park, including the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, which provides a thorough and moving account of what happened on that fateful day. Artifacts, private items, and survivor stories are on show in the exhibits, which graphically portray the death toll and the horrors of nuclear warfare. These stories hope to encourage visitors to work for a world devoid of nuclear weapons and violent warfare in addition to educating them.

The park has a calm mood, but it is also heavy with grief and a sense of respect for the people who were killed and injured in the attack. Travelers from all over the world gather to pay their respects, reflect on the costs of war, and emphasize the value of harmony and peace.

In the end, the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park serves as a potent reminder of the devastating destruction caused by nuclear bombs, imploring people to take lessons from the past and strive relentlessly toward a future in which peace triumphs over conflict and tragedies of this nature never happen again.

Incredible history. There was a man there with all the information about Hiroshima ready to tell you the history. No cost, just someone who lived to tell the tale. It was incredibly sad but very educational.

I went to pay my respects and sit in silence in this beautiful park. The dome stands as a strong reminder of the past. The park is peaceful and a gong sounds off in the distance. Everyone is respectful and kind. The river flows in between and there is a boat that takes you to Miyajima nearby. Worth the trip.

A sombre memorial that is important for anyone to see and think about what mankind is doing to itself. Many places to reflect and consider the impact this action had on the local population and the world in general. I took my thirteen year old son to explain the circumstances as it is important to pass on this reminder of the horrors of war.

Sad ! But are we sure was a atomic bomb? How that building was just under the explosion still up; if you see the pictures after the bomb; also a garage a facility and other building was up!!! Maybe another lie? Like the american moon of the Hollywood society?
We will never know; but I learn an important thing:

everything they teach from elementary on; can be at 90% a lie or a propaganda!

The memorial site is simply very amazing and undoubtedly overflows with many emotions. There is a caption and explanations on the site. The place is also near the museum. Highly recommended. In addition, the garden is very beautiful and this whole place makes you think about how important peace is. In addition, I've included quite a few photos for those who can't make it, it's really fascinating to see how only the vertical walls survived the explosion, because the blast knocked down the ceiling and everything that was perpendicular to it. Uncomplicated physics.

Atomic Bomb Dome
On 6 August 1945, an American B-29 bomber dropped the world’s first deployed atomic bomb over the Japanese city of Hiroshima.

It exploded at a height of 600 meters and 160 meters southeast of the Atomic Bomb Dome. Since the blast wave traveled straight down through its centre, some walls and the steel frames of the structure survived, though all those within were killed.

Now that, it stands the symbol of the abolition of nuclear weapons and a peace memorial to emphasize world peace.

A humbling experience of war is all about, and the devastation it causes to everyone.

The historical place is the only sign standing from 1945. It has been repaired and renovated but still it surprise you a lot.

A lot of tourist people visit this place specially who comes to Hiroshima don't want to miss to see the place.

Besides, there are others places that describe the moments of that time.

No other place on Google maps leave you feeling weird giving it a 5 stars. One cannot definitely give it a 1 star. Irrespective of the stars, I think one should visit the dome once in their lifetime. I suspect the thoughts and emotions it evokes is personal to each and everyone. One must experience them nonetheless.
