The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto

Very nice hotel with great service, wonderful rooms and great location.
Breakfast was a little harried as very busy, with not enough tables to seat right away. Would have to reserve the time for breakfast. Spa beautiful, but also massages not readily available, however our guide was able to secure someone from the outside to come to the spa and massage was wonderful. Very accommodating hotel, we were rushing to check in as we had a geisha dinner, and the hotel gave us the room key, with proviso we would formally check in after dinner. Very nice, and impressed with staff. highly recommend - only downside that their restaurants are closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. Only Bar lounge available for light meal

We just wrapped up a great three night stay at the Ritz in Kyoto. The service was friendly and genuine and they truly went out of their way from a service perspective. They even picked up three bags of gifts and things from us, packaged it up and had it shipped to our home in the US as we didn’t want to drag it all with us.

The architecture of the hotel is amazing, including the serene waterfall and then dramatic lobby entrance. You can hardly believe you're in the middle of a city. While super quiet, it's very conveniently located to everything. The room was well designed and very comfortable. Highly recommend.

From arrival to departure, the experience was beyond comparison. Undoubtedly the finest hotel that I have ever encountered. The staff were friendly, welcoming and extremely courteous. The room was expansive, clean and with a view of the river. If I had to choose a hotel in Kyoto, this would be the one.

We recently enjoyed an unforgettable stay at The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto, which is truly an ideal choice for traveling with children. From the moment we entered, we were deeply attracted by the warm atmosphere and meticulous service of the hotel. The staff was very friendly and took special care of the children, making our whole family feel very welcome and comfortable.
The room we stayed in was spacious and bright, beautifully decorated, blending modern and traditional design elements, making it very suitable for families. The facilities in the room were complete, and the beds were comfortable, allowing us to get a good rest every day and greet a new day.
The hotel offered a wide variety of breakfast options, all of high quality. There were traditional Japanese dishes as well as Western options, meeting the different taste preferences of our family.
The Ritz-Carlton's swimming pool and sauna were one of the highlights of our trip. The pool area was very suitable for family activities, and our whole family had a pleasant time there.
Overall, The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto provided us with a perfect stay. Whether it was the comfort of the room, the quality of service, or the hotel facilities, we were very satisfied. Especially for families with children, this is undoubtedly one of the best choices in Kyoto. We look forward to returning here in the near future.

One of the most beautiful hotels, and probably my favorite Ritz, I’ve ever stayed in. Super relaxing modern hotel well-located in Kyoto. Along an idyllic river - get a room with a view of it and bliss out!

Getting an upgrade to the garden terrace suite thanks to our Globalist status will make this review a positive bias for sure. The suite felt like a luxury oasis. Outstanding view of the river and the opposite bank. Wide terrace with beautiful landscaping. Huge bathroom with walk-in shower and tub.

The rest of the hotel is similarly beautiful and luxurious. Excellent personal service provided by everyone from the concierge to wait staff. Excellent English speakers, so perhaps this explains why some local guests may not be pleased with the English bias.

Leisurely walk to Pontocho Alley, Nishiki Market, Gion, and the Kyoto-Kawaramachi station area.

The service is excellent, Front Desk Manager Mr Hibino made us so very welcome.
We definitely will stay in this hotel whenever we are in Kyoto.
We have told all our friends and relatives that it's well worth the money.

A warm greeting upon entering the front yard, and a nice short walk from the reception counter to your room. We had private view to a zen garden to our room and the room is spacious. Never seen such a big room in any major city in Japan before. The room is decorated with high quality Japanese style but with high-tech builds. What amazes me was the evening service that they come to your room to fill your ice and do a mini clean up for you everyday. I love the handmade origami’s, and they were very cute. 🥰

From the moment my family and I stepped into The Ritz Carlton, Kyoto, we knew we were in for an extraordinary experience. This stunning hotel is not just a place to stay; it's a living museum, showcasing meticulous attention to detail in its design and ambiance.

The real highlight, however, is the impeccable service. The food and beverage team, particularly Eaint, left us in awe with their thoughtful and personalized service. Eaint's remarkable ability to remember the little details about our daughter's preferences, like her love for extra-large portions of raspberries and eggs with cheese on the side, made our dining experiences truly special.

Speaking of dining, the French Toast by Hemes is nothing short of a culinary masterpiece. It's so exquisite that I can confidently say it's the best French toast I'll ever taste in my life. And that's a statement I make happily, knowing that it gives me one more reason to return.

The dedication of the staff, including Reina, Pablo, and Teppei at the concierge, along with the entire front desk team, was heartwarming. Their genuine warmth, tireless work ethic, and the delightful small conversations we shared as they escorted us, added a personal touch to our stay.

Our room was always exquisitely cleaned, showcasing the same level of care and attention to detail that we experienced throughout the hotel. I was particularly touched by the thoughtful gesture of adding plastic bumpers to the table corners to ensure our baby's safety.

This hotel is a top-notch service oriented hotel I ever stayed. It was also a beautiful hotel with great smell. Especially, Mutsuki-san, our host, upgraded our room to the Grand Deluxe Kamogawa River View Room prior to our arrival: escorted us to the room; checked us in; and explained everything about what's in the room. It was also surprising that a staff member was waiting for us at the elevator next morning to take us to the restaurant that we reserved for breakfast. Again, when we went down the elevator to check out, there was another staff member wearing kimono waiting to escort us to the car valet. Of course, I didn't have to ask for the car ready. It was already prepared for me to drive out. It was a great experience for me and my mom. We will definitely be back.

The attentive staff goes above and beyond, from arranging seamless transportation to providing tailored recommendations that include top restaurants and unique cultural experiences. It's an unparalleled experience where every detail contributes to a memorable stay in Kyoto.

The best hotel we stayed at in Japan and arguably one of the best hotels in the world. The updated rooms, and the hotel as a whole, are a masterpiece in design, doing an amazing job of fusing traditional Japanese architecture with modern, functional design. The river and mountain sunrise views from the east facing rooms in particular were incredible to wake up to. The central location, minutes away from the city's best shopping and restaurants and adjacent to the river walk and Gion, is unbeatable, at least compared to the hotel's 5 star Kyoto peers like the 4S and PH (among others) that are either flung out across the city or located in over-packed tourist hot spots. Where the hotel really shines is with the staff... whether it was something as simple as a welcome gift for our honeymoon or something complex like a private samurai experience, the hotel's employees went above and beyond to make the final days of our trip memorable. It felt like each staff member in the hotel knew exactly who we were and what our plans for the day were and did their best to improve our experience. One staff member even took the time to write us a very personalized farewell card and present us with a fantastic farewell gift. It's hard to imagine a better hotel to stay at in Japan and we will certainly be back, provided we can afford it!

Just finished a stay here at the Ritz Kyoto. From checkin person Pink, our cycle guide Bo, concierge desk for making dining reservations and the thoughtful gifts at checkout, the service is impeccable. The aesthetic of the hotel is beautiful. Both the Japanese and Western breakfast choices were amazing as well. Would definitely be coming back again!

We had a company dinner at the Ritz Carlton. It was delicious and the best Wagyu Steak I've ever had before. It's definitely a place to check out when in Kyoto.

You can feel the traditional culture of Japan. The artwork at the front desk makes you feel like you're in a museum. The warmth of wood in the guest rooms is warm and calming. The ceiling is low and you can feel the atmosphere of being in a Japanese-style room.

One of the best Ritz Carlton properties in the city setting. Got to experience the great river view from the hotel room. Got upgraded to premium room with Marriott point as a platinum member. Went with Japanese breakfast as my platinum member benefit. 10/10 would recommend for anyone planning to visit Kyoto. Best service ever given by a hotel staff member to kindly tour us around the hotel before checking inside our own room.

Words only cannot describe how impressed I was when coming to The Ritz-Carlton Kyoto. Totally a resort in the heart of Kyoto but in quiet area.
I just OMG when I first saw it, a real heaven on earth, blended with historical and modern elements. You can see the vibes of Kyoto through the designs.
Great hospitality exprience in the city of history. The staff was super nice and friendly, accommodating a lot of my requests.

An absolutely beautiful hotel that is well located, beautifully appointed and where the staff is simply outstanding. The hotel rooms are contemporary yet classic with modern amenities and extremely comfortable luxury furniture. The lounge dining restaurant, Japanese restaurant and Italian restaurant are also all beautiful with excellent food and a warm, welcoming and professional staff. That is what stands out most about this hotel-the staff from reception to concierge to restaurant to housekeeping to management are all excellent. A special thank you to Hibino, the front desk manager. All in all, a truly five star experience. By far the best hotel in Kyoto and one of the best in all of Japan.
