This was one of the best tours I've ever been on. Our guide was exceptionally knowledgable and could answer complex questions in English. He was very kind, engaging and a bit funny too!

I wasn't expecting much as we approached the building, but after having been now to several other museums, its astonishing how many original artifacts are housed here; way more than at Tokyo National, proportionally.

A comparably small private museum, that makes up for its size by the free guided tour, the short Samurai demonstration and the chance to make photos in costumes. The exhibits are in very good condition and there is a lot of background information to each of it. I highly advise you to take one of the free English tours that start every 30-45 minutes. The staff is very friendly and motivated and will answer an question you might have.

I loved this place.
You get a one houre very informative, impressive and also funny tour and see lots of cool stuff.
You can also buy cool stuff there if you want.

One great thing about it is also that when you buy a ticket it is reusable. So we got there at 1815 but performances are shown only between 1400 and 1700. So we can come here on another day and watch the performance free of charge. 👍👍👍

Loved our experience here! Everything was far above and beyond our expectation. 👍

We hadn't done any research beforehand, just showed up and learned that there was a guided tour we could take part in. Our entire group consisted of about 10 or so people, a comfortable amount, and was so informative and entertaining. Big thanks to our lovely guide who did such a wonderful job and communicated so efficiently in English!

As a group of seniors, adults, and children, the experience was interesting for all of us, the samurai swordfighting performance was fun, the ability to try on the traditional robes was also great, and the layout of the museum, duration, and arrangement of the groups was well prepared so that everything was enjoyable for all of us.

We haven't been on many guided tours in Japan, but this was definitely one of the best we have visited in Tokyo!

Friendly staff and really enjoyable displays make this place a really enjoyable for learning about the history of Japan.
The tickets come with a free guided tour around the museum. Because it wasn't busy when we got there it became a private tour. The guides English was really good, being able to tell us about the displays and answer questions we had about them. Very relaxing and fun tour where you could try on some armours and swords for photo ops.
It was really an enjoyable experience and a place where you could buy armour or swords, among other souvenirs, to take home with you.

This place was very interesting. They kindly offered English tours at certain time intervals and the information was great weather you were new to samurai or had a base knowledge. The tour guide was able to answers the groups questions and was very helpful. There was even certain parts of the tour where you were invited to try on replicas. There were also live 15 minute demonstrations later in the day that you could come back and attend if you kept your ticket from earlier.
They also sold interesting gifts in the gift shop. Including replica and real swords.

We had such a great time at this museum. The English guide was super nice and very thorough with information. We enjoyed it more so than other museums since we were reading the book, Shogun which enhanced the experience and helped us better visualize the events in the book. We got a tour, got try out the samurai gear, the kimono gear as well as attended a samurai fight show. It was one of the most memorable and enjoyable experiences.

This is the best place to learn about the Samurai. The tour guide we had was very entertaining, you could tell he had a passion for the information he was sharing with us. The tour lasted about an hour. In the end you can try on samurai armor and kimonos. The do not allow photography while on the tour. The tour did cost a low sum of money. They have a gift shop on the main floor. They offer samurai swords, and other touristy items that are mostly based on the samurai. I definitely recommend going!

Really fantastic experience. Definately a tourist activity, but very interesting and informative with many authentic historical pieces, a show, and an opportunity to wear samurai period clothing. The guides are very knowledgeable and it is a great opportunity to get a little bit of a cultural experience in the middle of a very modern part of the city.

Unfortunately the museum was closed due to renovations but this review is for Takaoki and Ginjiro and their help with purchasing my two genuine antique samurai swords which were over 300 years old. Absolute pleasure to deal with over email and helping select my katana. If you’re in the market for the real deal, then look no further than these guys. Massive range of items to choose from.

This is an excellent little museum in Shinjuku where you can see a great selection of samurai armor and weapons. There are regular guided tours in English that provide insightful details about the exhibits. Considering the focus of this museum is just armor and weapons, it is the right size. Everything is well presented and the staff are very courteous.

An amazing place to visit, if your a history buff in Japanese culture or if you love learning something new. The place has a lot of original and authentic samurai armor and swords. This is around a 2 hour tour, which the tour guide will go through in each section.

We had to wait an hour because they are booked out with tours as it is a very popular place. So we came back an hour later after purchasing the tickets. It was 1900 yen per adult. I was very impressed with the way the whole tour was set up. Our guide was excellent, they spoke in English. You get to learn a lot and take photos also. If you're in to dressing up in traditional clothes and getting photos done they offer that as well after the tour. Also they offer a short show which I won't go it to detail of because it was really entertaining and I sat at the front with my heart racing the entire time with crazy expressions on my face. Really quite excellent. They also sell handmade Katana's there.

This place was great! Quite a collection! Also got to come back any day to watch the samurai show as long as you bring your tickets! All the staff are lovely. Free english tour guide as well explaining each armour or item etc. We also did the sword course, and that was very informative about all the different kinds of swords of Japan, the history of if, the making of... we love this place!

This museum is amazing.
It has lots to offer on Samurai history, but also on Japanese history.
The tour guides can speak English and they will show you armor and arsenal from the past centuries. Also they will teach you Japanese history (from self-isolation until industrialization).
You can also wear replicas and pose for photos =)

Excellent place to get to know about samurais and their lives, and also about the history of Japan. Not too much is written in English on the notes but the tickets come with free English tours. Unfortunately we were too busy to wait for the tour due to the flights. You can try some clothes and have photos taken, quite nice memory of the trip! The museum itself is so charming and old style housing, I wish I could live in there too! Excellent place. Staff members are great!

This was an informative and exceptional museum where the staff greatly contributed to the experience. Though the museum isn't too big, the displays really speak about the history that existed in Japan for many generations which unfortunately no longer exists. The most memorable part of the museum was definitely the demonstration. It was fantastic that they allowed volunteers to experience what it would be like to be a samurai warrior. Great show! It truly made our trip to Japan something extra special.

One of the better parts of our trips. A nice bit of culture. Place is nice and clean and the samurai displays were awesome. Our tour guide was really good even though his English wasn't great. (We figured out later he was one of the newer tour guides and the rest of the staff seemed to speak English very well)

It's just in Shinjuku so be ready for large dudes asking you to go to strop clubs, but are most likely trying to scam you. If you get past them the samurai exhibit is great!

Amazing insight into the lives of the Samurai and a must see when in Tokyo. Tours are every 20 minutes with small groups of a dozen people. Guides speak very good English and will answer all of your questions. It can get very busy here so I suggest you go earlier in the day or late afternoon before they close. Shogun armors are replicas as the real ones are national treasures. Everything else is authentic true pieces of history. This area of Tokyo is packed and tourist central 101.

This Museum far and away exceeded our expectations. Our guide was very knowledgeable about Japanese history and the background behind each peace of amour and weaponry. At the end of the tour we got to have some fun performing with the Samurai and getting some photos dressed up. The staff were more than happy to take photos using our camera with no extra charge. Excellent from start to finish.
