Higashiyama Post Office

Thank you to the two workers here with whom I did not share a language but worked hard to give me honest, helpful advice!

I recommend foreigners to check the Japan Post website which has an English section and will explain what you can and can't send, before heading to the Post Office. Compared to my home country, Japan Post has more forms to fill out, so it's best to check online for what you might need to know before you go to the store.

I spoke to two staff members on different days, and though neither spoke much English, we all used a translation app until we could convey the meaning. The young man I spoke to recommended I didn't use the Yu-Pack service just in case my luggage was delayed (the turnaround was too tight given my timelines - it would have been possible but as he pointed out, bad weather or bad traffic would have ruined my trip) which helped me make other decisions in a timely manner. I'm glad for his help, it was very kind.

I was very impressed with the gentleman who assisted me this morning! Incredibly thorough and eager to help despite the language barrier.
