Altitude Physio & Massage Hakuba

I’ve never been one for going to Physio, but after weeks and weeks of snowboarding my body really needed a tune up. I was recommended to go see Cal and Ash from some good mates, and my god I’m thankful I did. They’re both extremely down to earth but also highly skilled at their craft. Cal sorted me out from head to toe, and left me feeling the best I have in yonks (at a very affordable price at that). I can’t recommend the guys more highly, I will absolutely be going back if i have any further issues while here in Hakuba.

The staff were kind and knowledgeable. This massage was one of the best I’ve had in a long time. Ambience and conversation was great. We decided to get treated to a 90 minute massage after four days of skiing in preparation of new snow, and it did the charm. We felt way better after, and they targeted all the spots that mattered, would love to come back. Pricing was reasonable, and booking was easy online.

Ashlee and Callum were absolutely amazing in my time of need. After I tore my ACL skiing in Hakuba, they provided Physio treatment for the remainder of my stay. From picking me up in their car, because I couldn’t walk to treating me like I was going to be a lifelong Client, despite knowing I was only there for a few days, their professionalism and care was amazing. Thank you so much guys I really appreciated your help getting me back up & walking so I could enjoy the rest of my holiday.

Very friendly and professional staff. Came here because I sprained my ankle snowboarding. Callum and Ash were very attentive and thorough with assessing my ankle. They did a lot patient education which I really appreciated as well and gave me several exercises to do to help my ankle recover. I feel confident in relying on them to help me recover and get back into snowboarding. Also, their office is pretty hidden inside the NBS store attached to the Hakuba Gateway Hotel so it was a bit hard to find.

I found this place after Google searching physios near me for a knee injury I had from snowboarding. Callum was super friendly and helpful, and went above and beyond to help me recover from my injury. With his help I was able to get back onto the slopes way faster than I would have thought, and enjoyed some solid pow days before ending my trip. Highly recommend this place!

After my first day of snowboarding my knee was really sore (I have pretty serious OA) and I knew I wouldn't last 8 days of boarding if I didn't do something about it. I was a bit hesitant to go into the physio as I didn't want him to think I was just after a freebie! Callum was really helpful right from the start, advising me on a better knee brace than I had. His advice was right on the mark, and along with some specific leg massages by Callum and Zac, kept me boarding for my 8 days there. They also alerted me to a special knee program for remedial work when I got back to Australia. Thanks guys, it was really worth spending a small amount of money to keep my snowboarding dream alive!!

I visited both of the clinic's physios during my 11 day stay in Hakuba, they were both fantastic, listened to what I had to say and adjusted my treatment accordingly. Well priced for the service, too. I'd happily return!

I'm working in Hakuba for the season and when I hyperextended my knee I asked around for a good physio and ended up at Altitude. They have the best rep and prices in town and I'm so glad I found them! They were able to pick me up for my appointments and help me out with the travel insurance claim which was super helpful. Thanks a bunch for helping me make the most out of the rest of the season!!

Callum is a very professional Physio therapist! I can barely felt any sore after his massage! And he helps my friend so much about the rehab of her ACL! Very patient and have a good smile! Very nice!

It was so simple and easy to book a massage with Altitude. I looked them up on Google, but our accom - The Joint- also had details about Altitude on the information board. The availability and price were very reasonable. The welcome from Ash and Cal was genuine and put me at ease. I appreciated the deep tissue massage from Cal which was tailored to my specific
issues. I recommend Altitude very highly. As well as a great massage service, we had great chats about other local services in Hakuba and Nagano which was so helpful. Thank you.

Amazing massages and wonderful people! My husband got a massage from Callum and I got one from Ashlee - it was the best treat ever after two days of skiing. Really easy online booking and Callum and Ashlee were kind enough to give us amazing restaurant recs as well! Highly recommend!

I have had nothing but good experiences when seeing the staff at Altitude Physiotherapy and Massage in Hakuba.
From the initial phone call I was very happy to be greeted an english speaking staff member as I know next to no Japanese. With injuries that can be hard to pinpoint being able to communicate was vital and I was booked in for my first appointment that same day.
I saw Callum last season for an ankle injury and Ash this season for a knee injury - both have been awesome at helping me get back to riding. Their knowledge of the Japanese health system was super helpful in directing me to get the right scans, and working with my travel insurance so I got every penny back! They were always flexible when it came to required appointment times (as well as offering a pickup/drop off shuttle service this season for some locations at a very affordable fee as were the fees in general for treatment.
They really seemed to understand my concerns and needs and I couldn’t have got any better treatment if I was a experienced Physio and able to treat myself. I really can’t say enough about the treatment and services provided by both Callum and Ash.
They are great people in general also passionate about snow sports as well as others and as much as it’s not my wish to be in a position to need their services in the future, if I require treatment or advice they will be the first call I’ll be making. Thanks heaps to you both🙂

My season ahead of skiing was under threat of early termination, were it not for the savvy team at Altitude Physio. Knowledgable and good looking, they gave me a great routine to get my legs back up and running in no time to get back on the slopes- and hopefully avoid future injuries again with stronger joints! Highly advise going here for all Physio needs.

Best massage we've ever had! Callum was courteous, informative, and extremely knowledgeable. It was a lovely addition to our trip & very helpful for our skiing/snowboarding aches & pains. Highly recommend!

The physiotherapy consultations from Ash @ Altitude Physio were not only excellent, the service and general support provided were outstanding. Ash and Callum went out of their way to help with my injury, insurance claim management, continued management of my injury (although I have left Japan), pick-up and drop off services and more. They both are highly skilled and truly caring. I highly recommend them !

My sister injured her knee on day one of our snowboarding trip. We were able to book an appointment same day with Altitude Physio Hakuba. They picked us up from our accommodation and drove us to the clinic. Callum was super helpful and identified the injury, went through some treatment and taped my sisters knee so she was able to keep snowboarding for the following days of the trip.
Callum followed up and provided important after care for the injury to help prevent further damage and encourage recovery.

Ashlee was amazing , really listened to my needs and the massage really help me relax since I had fallen a few times and hurt my shoulders , the pressure was just how I liked it ,a liitle harder and I will be recommending her to my husband and friends who may need her after today . She also emailed me a list of things to do since I decided that skiing is not for me 😊

Cal and Ash at altitude physio are top tier!, recently had a knee injury which turned out to be a MCL injury, they helped me figure out a rehab routine to get me back on my feet as quick as possible. Cal is very knowledgeable in his field of work, I will continue to use altitude physio for the remainder of the season, with Ash and Cal’s help I have no doubt I will be riding before season ends. 5 stars!

Went in and saw Callum who eased my troubled mind after hearing a pop in my knee on the slopes. He let me know it was nothing more sinister than a kneecap subluxation. After some treatment and fitting of a knee-brace, he gave me some exercises to do and reassured me that I’d be fine to keep snowboarding. Very efficient, friendly and professional.
