First night out in Kyoto, just next to, or the south side of this humongous Kyoto train station, access via the second floor which opens towards the south side, and there is this shopping mall you cannot miss it, the name is on this post, where you can get some quaint souvenirs, as well as help yourself to some fine Japanese dining.

Are you into ramen or noodles in soup, or all manner of barbecue beef, or sushi and fresh sea food, or tempura in traditional Japanese set cooking. The food here, at this mall is of course mainly Japanese, but what a choice of restaurants! This place is definitely worth a stroll both before and after you have eaten.
