Supermercato DESPAR Rialto

A small "supermarket" conveniently located by the famous Rialto Bridge. It has a nice selection of daily groceries, and opens 8am in the morning. The staff are friendly and professional, quickly helped me to put labels on the fruit which I forgot to weight.

This market is located just south of the Rialto Bridge on the east side of the grand canal, near the last vaperetto stop. A small place, with something for everyone. Fresh produce, (prodotti freschi), meats, (carni) packaged goods, a great selection of breads, (pane), candy (caramelle), and plenty of cheese, (formaggio).
You can shop here to purchase food for a picnic, or, if you are staying in an apartment, you can shop here for a weeks worth of cooking. Other than alcohol, if you can't find it here, you probably missed it.
Don't be a bad/lousy/ignorant tourist:
If the product does not have a code on it, you must weigh the produce and bread first. Print a label, and take it to the cash register. Each bin has a number. Take the bread, put it in the bag, put it on the scale, put in the bin number, press 'ok' and it prints your label. Same for fresh produce. Not difficult, but not like America.

If you're resourceful and dont want to pay through the nose for expensive restaurants. Get your daily bread and eats here.
It's normal prices and normal fayre. The only thing is you have to prepare it yourself... which is still a no-brainer if you're on a budget.

Great selection and great prices!! We bought all the same items at a Coop 2 days prior, and instead of 45€, we paid 35€!

Friendly staff but there is a different protocol than an American grocery store. Grab your basket on the way in, use gloves for the bakes goods and way them yourself (prices listed are per/kg), use your receipt to open the gate on the way out.

This is my favorite grocery store when we were visiting Venice. The food quality and price is perfect and rightly done. For tourists if you don't want to pay a high price for food this is your store. The attendants were very courteous.

Down from Rialto Bridge. Got carton of wind for less than 2 euro. Can't go wrong

Medium size supermarket (for Venetian standard) in one of the most central position in the historic centre of Venice. Located just a few steps to Rialto bridge, you can find almost everything. Pretty useful if you have a kitchenette in your holiday apt. Nice princes and good quality.

The shop assistants were really nice. We entered few minutes before closing hours and the shop assistants gave us as much as time which we needed for choosing the goods.

A larger grocery store hidden away in the crowded Rialto Bridge area. Well stocked.

Love a good grocery to grab lunch for cheap. Wonderful selection of fresh baked breads and cheeses- right on the grand canal near the Rialto.

Cheap wine and good for a basic shop. Enough variety to sort lunch or an evening meal if you have cooking facilities.

Really handy spot beside Rialto Bridge for groceries, incredible value compared to literally anything around it!

If you’re traveling with a low budget, this is your option! Find salads and proteins and make your own dinner/lunch.

Very good place to buy cheap food. Cheap water for €0,29.

They have pretty much everything that you may need during your stay in Venice, the prices are also great and the staff is very helpful
