Wonderful town with great history. Walking around is so peaceful. One can feel and see how once there were many more small factories producing unique objects you cannot even imagine.

It is a beautiful and relaxing place to enjoy my day in Murano. We walked almost the whole island and found many beautiful Murano glasses, yummy food, and delicious drinks. The island is colorful and comfortable to walk with a group of friends and family like we did. Murano is a place that you should include in your trip when you're going to Venice next time.

Never miss Murano … this beautiful island … when being in Venice!

Visit Murano Island:
This archipelago, approximately one square kilometer in size, has been part of Venice since 1924 and consists of seven islands.

These are connected to each other by bridges. Numerous canals run through this district and ensure the typical Venetian appearance.

Murano is best known for his glass art. Many of the approximately 5,000 residents work in one of the traditional glassblowing factories and export their goods all over the world.

The resulting tourism became another important source of income for the population.

In addition, as is usual for a Mediterranean region, fishing plays a major role.

As Murano is an island you may reach it only by boat via Venice.

If you like to see how things are made (in this case hand made glass) it's the place to be. You can visit a family factory and be amazed by the work of the Maestros. Then you can enjoy a nice meal and a good coffee.

We had the pleasure of visiting Murano, and it was an enchanting experience. The island's rich history and renowned glass artistry make it a must-visit destination. The exquisite craftsmanship displayed in the glassblowing studios is truly mesmerizing.

Exploring the charming streets, lined with vibrant shops and galleries, was a delight. The authenticity of Murano's atmosphere and the warmth of the locals added a special touch to my visit.

Great to visit with it’s nice cafés, not a lot of crowd and beautiful glass sculptures and art. Although i would say Burano is better.

A very beautiful place famous for the glass industry, and it has many beautiful scenery and wonderful places. You can go there by public transportation or through tour groups that will take you on a tour to the glass factory to see an interesting show on how it is made.

A great island, although little, very very famous for glass. You can visit a glass factory and watch a demonstration/show how a master makes a pretty amazing glass work in 10 minutes and you can buy some great glass but beware the tourist traps. You can visit the island by the public boats or buy a tour.

Nestled like hidden gems within the embrace of the Venetian lagoon, the enchanting islands of Murano and Burano beckon with their unique charms and vibrant personalities. These two small islands, each with its distinct allure, offer an escape from the bustling canals of Venice and unveil a world of exquisite craftsmanship and colorful traditions.

Murano, renowned worldwide for its centuries-old glassmaking legacy, is a testament to human creativity and skill. As I wandered through its narrow streets, the delicate artistry of Murano glass unfurled before my eyes. I had the privilege of witnessing master glassblowers in action, their deft hands transforming molten glass into intricate pieces of art. The Glass Museum provided a captivating journey through time, tracing the evolution of this ancient craft. From delicate chandeliers to intricate figurines, the pieces on display showcased the mastery that has been passed down through generations.

Burano, a picturesque island famed for its vibrant houses and rich lacemaking heritage, felt like a living canvas. The kaleidoscope of colors that adorned every building seemed to dance in harmony with the azure waters surrounding the island. Walking along its charming canals, I marveled at the intricate lacework displayed in shop windows. The Lace Museum provided insight into the painstaking process behind these delicate creations, revealing the dedication and artistry that have defined Burano's identity.

Both islands shared a sense of community and authenticity that was palpable. The warmth of the locals, their passion for preserving traditional crafts, and their willingness to share stories added depth to the experience. Dining in local trattorias allowed me to savor authentic Venetian flavors, a delightful blend of fresh seafood and regional specialties that mirrored the islands' vibrant spirit.

Whether exploring the artisan workshops of Murano or immersing myself in the kaleidoscopic charm of Burano, I felt a profound connection to the rich heritage of these islands. They offered a glimpse into a world where time seems to stand still, where age-old traditions are cherished, and where the hands of artisans continue to shape the narrative of Venice's past and present. As I bid farewell to Murano and Burano, I carried with me not only vibrant memories but also a deep appreciation for the cultural treasures that make Venice's lagoon truly exceptional.

Very easy to reach by boat, Murano is a nice option to spend an afternoon if you have extra time in Venice. There’s no need for expensive tours, from the pier F.te Nove “B”, you can take the ferry 4.1 for just $5,00; the journey takes around 8 minutes. Once you are there, you can watch a glass blow presentation for about $15. There’s not much else to do other than that, just walk along the canals, admiring the little houses, boats, colors and the whole atmosphere of the place.

Not as colorfull as Burano, but is much closer to Venice. Worth for the glass! Also you can see how the glass scuptures are made, directly from the small local shops. Not as crowded as Burano or Venice.
