Imagine coming out of a rail station and the breathtaking view of the grand canal awaits to welcomes you. What can be a better start of a trip than this.
This is a well organized station with 16 platforms. Chargeable toilet, left storage facilities, multiple dining and shopping options are available. Very easy to navigate,
Many tickets vending machine are at your service.
One draw back may be the fact that you have to keep an eye on the display board for information about the platform until the train arrives at the station.
A water taxi stand is just near the exit point makes the connectivity even more easier.

A bustling yet remarkably appealing train station. The moment you disembark from the train, you'll be greeted by the captivating sight of Venice. Typically, you encounter cities crisscrossed with roads, but here, you'll encounter a city crisscrossed with rivers and canals. It's truly enchanting. Pictures or videos don’t do justice what you could witness on naked eye.

The train 🚆 station at Venice is a modern one. Exactly the right size, not big for someone to walk and not to small to be overcrowded. Lots of automatic ticket 🎟 machines make it easy to buy ticket avoiding wait a long to pay for it. Moreover, there are many shops to buy or just to spend your time while waiting for the train.

The Venice train station has a huge departure and arrival system with many tracks, yet it is very efficient and structured in a very simple manner. There are plenty of stores that exist within the station and toilet facilities are also available.

This beautiful station sits right on the Grand Canal of Venice. There is also a vaporetto (water bus) stop right in front of the station. Very convenient to get to using the water bus but it can get very busy.

Train tickets are easily purchased at their ticket stations.

There’s a cafe, gelateria, and a few shops at the station. Washrooms have a fee but if you purchase something at the cafe, you can use their toilettes.

The station also offers a luggage storage.

I am not sure if there is another train station quite like Stazione di Venezia Santa Lucia where it offers you a view like this. To me, this is the best welcome view on arrival in all places I have travelled to thus far. The station is easy to navigate. It's clean. You feel safe being there. It's simply amazing. (July 2022)

Trains were on time and that’s the most important thing for me.

Very easy to buy the tickets on the automated ticket machines. Some of them don’t give enough information such as which platform the train is on.

On the displays within the station only the final destination is shown so you kinda have to know which line is passing through the city you want to go to.

Information centre staff is polite and helpful. They will resolve the train issues you have.

Trains are fast, clean, and the overall railroad is pretty straight. You don’t really feel like moving at all.

Sometimes there is a conductor to check the tickets but don’t gamble with it. Nobody else will check if you have one while boarding the train.

The fines for not having a ticket are not worth it.

Nice train station, good signposting and easy to use. A few tips - if you can buy your ticket in advance (Trainline) - this tends to be cheaper and is easier to choose your seats, it's not like the UK where you just get on and sit anywhere - you have allocated seats, so if you are in a group or wish to sit together book in advance.

I used both first class/business and standard travel, there is not much between them, both have charging points and decent seats. First class seats are a little wider and you get served a coffee and get some pastries, but in retrospect I would probably opt to pay a bit less for the ticket and just go standard.

Be aware you need to have your passport with you, of the 4 trips I made the Police walked up to me and requested my passport on 3 occasions.

For Brits - boarding is not quite what we are used to - just get on your train (there are no barriers) your ticket is checked on the train. Be sure to sit in your allocated seat, there is a fine if you sit in the wrong place!

Finally be aware that platforms are not displayed until quite late - about 10 minutes before departure. The procedure is to hang around the display boards and wait for the platform to be displayed, then immediately head to that platform to board your train.

Very busy station.
Toilet inside for 1 euro.
Staff at the ticket office friendly and helpful.
Also, the lady at the ticket (selling water bus tickets) speaks perfect English and helpful.
Water bus ticket cost 7.50 euro for 70 minutes or 21 euro for day ticket.

One of the best stations in all of Italy. Bathrooms are certainly the cleanest, a number of options for snacks and souvenirs, and very wide areas to walk. Excellent police presence, and just enough view blocking as you come into the station so that stepping outside is a very impressive visual impact. There are quite a few helpful staff around, as well as a strong police presence to discourage gypsies and pickpockets.

Easy to navigate. End if the line if your going to venice so you can't go wrong! To get back to mestre there's regular trains taking about 8mins travel time. Water bus almost immediately after exiting.

Great station with open and easy accessible areas. There is a toilet available at the food and beverage outlet in the station to the left as you are exiting the station. This toilet requires 1€ to enter or a token obtained from the food outlet cashier. The toilets are up a flight of stairs towards the front left of the station.

If you traveling a lot around Italy it might be ideal to purchase a Eurail Global Pass which can provide a discount for multiple journeys. When booking on the Eurail App you will need to check if the train has a booking fee, a a lot of journeys can be made without the booking fee.
