In my opinion it's the best squares of lucca. Anfiteatro Square in Lucca, , is a charming, elliptical-shaped square that stands on the site of an ancient Roman amphitheater. Encircled by medieval buildings, it retains the original shape of the amphitheater, creating a unique and picturesque space. The square is a lively hub with cafes, shops, and a vibrant atmosphere, making it a popular spot for locals and tourists alike.

One of the tourists spots in Lucca. Lots of small stores and food places within this square. Plenty to see and it was a good day trip to experience parts of Lucca. Inside the Piazza were many restaurants and most had the same menu.

A really nice place to visit, I bet performances and public gatherings back in the day were amazing. If you read the 1 star reviews most complain about the restaurants but I think it adds to the atmosphere. It would historically always be a public centre with lots of people so imo it adds to the charm

If you’re in Lucca, you must visit this elliptical shaped piazza at least once. But since it’s free, don’t restrict yourself to just once if you don’t have to! It’s a great use of the historical space of the amphitheater.

In the summer it has many nice restaurants, during the Christmas season, it’s nicely lit.

In the Tuscany region, the small provincial town of Lucca combines beautiful squares and medieval buildings. One of them is the beautiful Piazza dell anfiteatro. Many cafes and restaurants are there to enjoy your coffee or food !!

Special place, full of restaurants (some people can think there are so many), but personally, I think that makes the place special. Full of life, people eating and celebrating. The atmosphere feels amazing

Great public area (elliptical shaped) that used to be a Roman amphitheater. The buildings are converted to living areas. The lower area is lined with shops and restaurants all around. Had a wonderful outdoor dinner here.

I lived above it for 3 days and during which time there is the San Zita festival, the entire plaza turned into a flower market. Extremely lively evenings with restaurants and bars around it opening late into the night.

A lovely tranquil spot in the heart of the Old Town. Being mid January it was quiet, but it was warm and the four of us enjoyed a beer, wine and coffee at one of the cafes that line the perimeter. Beware of the con men, they claim to be Senegalese, they give you a "gift" of a bracelet, then chase you demanding a gift in return. I just gave it back to him and told him to **** off but others might find themselves handing over cash.

Beautiful square in the city of Lucca. There are restaurants all around. Certainly a bit touristy, but also very beautiful. Recommendation: View at night

This is a round Piazza with shops and restaurants, located within a beautiful town called Luca, which is located within a fortress that is well maintained despite the passage of time, it is well worth visiting this colorful place.

Spent lunch in the square yesterday. We were looking for eggplant parmigiana and a once we found it we sat and ate and people watched. Fun and relaxing. Beautiful place! Horse drawn carriage went by which was so awesome. I love Italy and places like this. Traditional and lovely.

Very nice place with a lot of restaurants, ice cream store, souvenirs. Good food, prices for everyone, fast service...typical italian. The houses are all linked forming am amphitheater lime construction. We ate at "La Grotta"....it was very good. Totally recommended when in Lucca.

Lucca is a beautiful walled city. We parked outside of the town and walked in. While we were there, we stopped in the main square and had a nice lunch.

While we were eating, a little old man came around and played music on his little accordion. It was quintessentially italy.

Sitting in the piazza with my wife, eating pasta, some cute little guy playing classic Italian songs. Of course I tipped him. It was like something from a movie. A memory that I'll cherish forever.
