If you want to shop in Iceland on a budget you need to come shop here. They just started a system where you can download an app and pretty much shop on your own time and check out while shopping. It's fun as well. Just scan everything as you put it in your basket. When you leave there is another area where you scan a qr code to pay and then you leave. No need to wait in line :)
You can find just about anything food wise you need, so there is no reason to shop anywhere else.

If you are visiting and touring throughout Iceland the bold yellow and black (with pink pig mascot) is a welcome sight! Very clean, well laid out, good variety and good prices! I was impressed with a number their store brand generic foods over some European and American name brands.

I like to think of this as the equivalent of Trader Joe's in that it's prices are lower than other Icelandic grocery stores and friendly staff. Make sure to bring your own bags if you want any.

You can find everything you need here. It's quick to shop. Lot of fruits and vegetables. Good prices

To be honest, mostly this happy pig face will be a sign that you can buy all what you want in a quite low cost comparing to other markets. There is quite everything what you want with even some local goods like horse meat or a stinky shark. Staff is speaking English so no problems for foreigners
