Snæfellsjökull

A beautiful place on the tip of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. It is a glacier capped volcano. It stands in the National Park and it has several small villages surrounding it. We captured it in the background with the pictures I included from Snæfellsjökull Nature Park.

A must visit for anyone spending some time in Iceland.

Simply stunning.
If you have a 4x4 i recommend driving the F570. You will get to a point very close to the glacier.
Breathtaking views and a adventure in itself.

Please do not go without 4x4

We drove as far as we could in a car. It would be much easier in a 4x4 as the road is pretty bad. We did a small walk across the snow following the snowcat trail and footprints before us. The views were still stunning. The glacier called volcano was on the left as you climb. To get to the glacier would have been about 3km and we were not prepared for snow hiking so we turned back.

Beautiful area on the peninsula! Only two hours from Reykjavík. The coastline has many beautiful rock formations. Great place to drive around the peninsula and spend a day or two. We stayed at the foss hotel in Helnar which was very nice and had a great restaurant. You can do a one hour tour through a lava tube which is really really cool!

Amazing but it’s dangerous to reach the top mountain.

A great place if you are looking for a good hike

End of April update, the road is closed so you can only drive up half the way. But you can then walkthrough the snow for about 1km for some amazing views. It wasn’t that had to do with hiking boots

We climbed the peak in 2017 following the snowcat trail. A fun climb to a spectacular peak

When visiting famous Londrangar cliffs, take the exit to the picturesque farm ruins with great views on the ocean and Snaefellsjokull cap

Nice Black Beach in this region. The rock formations are great and the coast is very pretty...Dont forget to bring your camera and never turn your back to the waves.

One of best sights in snaefellsness national park, this peak offers positive vibes & best of view with variety of nearby colorful mountains created by volcano , drive carefully especially in 4*4 vehicles & follow signboards everywhere.

Amazing place. If weather is good this place looks amazing , we were bit unlucky since it was raining the whole day.

I just loved Iceland. It's a beautiful modest country with much charms to offer. The country is serene, clean, and crime free. You really feel safe and much to see. The people there are very nice and hospitable. I will defintely go back to visit. Love the ocean view, it's really breathtaking.

So glad we did this little detour from the ring road. Beautiful landmarks and less crowded than places in Southern Iceland.

Astounding sights, and great weather. A must see if you go to Iceland.
