They are open just push the door and go inside. The mashed fish is my favorite! And lamb soup is my bfrd favorite. Had a good time here the bread is matched with soup and fish we like it!
They also have some hand knitted jumper there to sell. It’s cheaper than the one we saw in big city and the color is great!

The best lunch I've experienced. The lamb soup was superb, along with the bread. I highly recommend!

Ordered the mashed fish, lamb stew and martial bless cake.

All was nice and delicious! Clean toilets and i guess is popular with tour groups coz there was 2 big ones while we were there.

Definitely the best restaurant in the Arnastapi/Hellnar area! Very reasonable prices and lovely service. We ordered the lamb soup and the mashed fish/potatoes. Served with homemade bread and creamy butter. I am not usually one to get full from soup alone but the lamb was so tender, the broth so rich and the vegetables so hearty that I felt fuller than I ever have in my life! The bread was delicious. Tried my partner's mashed fish and I loved the curry flavor and the salad it was served with. There is a gift shop with Icelandic sweaters, hats, mittens, socks and other sundry homemade items such as soap, Icelandic salt, essential oils, prints and postcards. The restaurant itself seems like a very authentic experience; observed other locals eating here. Clean bathrooms, coffee and tea service where you can serve yourself. Wish I had had room for the homemade ice cream! The flavors included licorice, vanilla, chocolate, salted caramel, strawberry, and dandelion. Hope to come back and visit.

Wonderful little local restaurant in Arnarstapi. Family owned and run. Home cooked food. Mashed fish is on point. Lamb soup is !!! They have ice cream, crepes, and hot chocolate. The owner makes the bread too. You can’t beat that.

A super cozy restaurant, the lamb soup was delicious and warmed my soul (owner came around and asked if I wanted refills, to which I promptly said “yes”). The bread was also nice and fluffy, they also have good coffee!

10/10 would refill again 🍲

Super friendly owner! Their home made bread was superb and they said it was made freshly everyday! Their food is like home made food and the mashed fish is their signature which we didn’t see elsewhere

I'm so glad we stopped here. The outside is rustic and beautiful and the inside is cozy and welcoming. The lamb soup was so so good, and the lady that was working was kind. I loved the little giftshop area and bought handmade fishing flies.

Wonderful unpretentious little restaurant. We got lamb soup and ice cream. Meals had an obvious home-cooked feel. The lady serving us was very kind. Definitely recommend!

Cozy family-owned restaurant with authentic Icelandic food. The style is order at the counter and then choose a table to sit at. As a small restaurant, there is only one server/hostess but she does a great job ensuring all the orders get fulfilled.

Since it can get rather crowded after 12:30, it is recommended to get there around the time it opens at noon.

For food, I recommend their soup and their Icelandic crepe, but they also have a delicious fish dish. Despite the cold weather, we also had some ice cream. There is a traditional Icelandic flower flavor called Mjadjurt that I highly recommend. The hot chocolate was a little too sweet for my taste, but it does warm you up! The tea and coffee is self-service and one can either pay in the beginning or at the end.

Once you walk past all the trendy new coffee shops next to the road. This unassuming building with Kaffee written on the side appealed greatly. Food was excellent and ourselves and our icelandic friend who was showing us around, loved the meat stew/soup. I also had a crepe for afters which was just excellent. I'll certainly be back! Empty bowls and full bellies!

Although a bit hidden and behind two other restaurants this place is definitely the best in the spot for a lunch or dinner. Completely different from other two, it's very Icelandic with a short but very tasty local home-made menu. Don't judge by the view from outside, Jo go in there, enjoy the food and service as well as some local stuff to buy.

Cute and Cozy! The weather outside was cold and the lamb soup warmed us right up. Delicious and authentic Icelandic dishes. We enjoyed the lamp soup, homemade bread, and mashed fish plate. Yum! Staff was welcoming and friendly. Cute little shop inside with local made goods.

Amazing authentic little cafe. We enjoyed yogurt and coffee for an afternoon snack before walking down to the black arches on the coast. Oh and I loved the little mug I drank out of and asked if I could purchase it! Loved this stop! The service and conversation was delightful!

Visited May 2022. Don't let the exterior fool you. Amazing hospitality, warmth and food at this place. They sell food for the soul and also a variety of different items like clothing, necklaces, gifts etc. Mashed cod (which looks like scrambled eggs) was so good that we ordered a 2nd serving of it.

We stopped in on a windy afternoon feeling exhausted and frozen. We ordered coffee and tea and decided to stay for their lamb soup. My husband loved the coffee and the lamb soup was so rich and filling. It came with warm bread and a small jam and cream crepe too! After that meal I felt like a human being again. What a lovely place. There is also a small gift shop with local made arts and crafts.

This is a cute little shop, antique showroom? And restaurant. It’s our first night in Iceland and we read all the reviews, some negative and some positive and decided to give it a go. It far exceeded our expectations. Albeit expensive for what it was compared to what we are used to, it was delicious and compared to the other restaurants in the area- healthy. Only 3 things on the menu- The mashed COD was a standout. Delicious and light. The lamb soup was tasty however didn’t compare to the fish. Would highly recommend for an authentic Iceland experience.

If there was a space for 6 stars, they would definitely receive it.
Tasty, cozy, yummy, normal price = no tourist trap, great stuff, you can buy local art inside. Thank you ❤
Ps: do not let fool yourself with the bulding look.

One of the best meals I've had so far! The mashed fish is delicious! And for those of you who cringe at the thought of mashed fish, if you have eaten tuna in a can, you have had mashed fish. Give it a try!
