Perfect retreat after going both east and westward on different days. Easy to find. Rooms are spacious, very clean and pleasant inside. Heated floor which was lovely. No issues with anything in the room. Glad they have blinds in the room as the curtains on their own don't hold back any light. Ideal quick hop to a hot tub too!

Food they offered was very limited but each dish was cooked perfectly. Not long to wait for food and didn't come out looking rushed.

Very helpful staff all over. Would definitely stay again if we do the south run again.

This hotel was clean with all amenities. They had hot tubs outside but it was too cold and windy to go out there and enjoy them. The breakfast was lovely. I liked that our room had a door to go outside. This hotel is near the geothermal activity, so expect a little smell of sulfur. It didn't bother me.

Really nice hotel! Room spacious, just need kettle in the room and coffee buy that is not big deal as is next to the reception area where you can get it. Very nice quiet place, staff on reception very friendly. Hot tub in the hotel but didn't use it. Breakfast absolutely yummy yummy!

We did not stay in the hotel but took part in a half-day horse riding experience with pick up in Reykjavík. My daughter and I had a wonderful experience with Eldhestar. As a first-timer, I was apprehensive, but the guides were reassuring and made me feel safe. The horses were well trained and I was at ease on mine. We crossed a couple of rivers on our horses and did quite a bit of the trolt which was fast and pretty exciting for a first-time rider. Rain gear was provided on the rainy/snowy Sunday morning we were there. You can also opt to don their warm overalls. Would definitely recommend this experience.

We went there for a day, trip from Reykjavik, riding in the morning, got baths in the afternoon, and way back.
Everything was well organized, on time, and sympathetic, we had a great day.
You should tell people that you're lending additional winter or rain clothes. It's very convenient and could be a restraint if we don't know.
We don't want to ride with our own winter clothes or are reluctant to.
Knowing that they will be protected is a must know.
Everything was perfect, and we really enjoy the day. We are looking forward to come for a longer stay to learn more about islandic riding.

We loved absolutely everything, right away at the reception, the staff made us very comfortable, we really enjoyed the convivality and experience of the place towards foreigners.
It is a warm place whose aesthetics and history really revolve around horses and how deeply rooted they are in Iceland. Each room is named after a horse which used to live here and whose biography is written at the front of the door. There are also 2 hot tubes available outside. The whole place is made in wood inside, there is a living room next to the restaurant and bar with free tea, coffee and biscuits and local magazines to help discover the country. The parking may be full sometimes but another parking is available as backup right next to the horse riding area. We did not take a lot of pictures tho so here is the view from our room.

This place is awesome. I booked a full day The Valley of Horses – Marardalur and The full day beach tour. Both days were amazing. The guides Caroline and Laura, both from Denmark, exceeded expectations. The rest of the staff there were also team players and helped in every way. I def recommend this 100%. You will not be disappointed. The horses provided to me and my fellow riders during the rides were very great horses. They do a great job in pairing you with the proper horse. I will def come back. You will fall in love with the views here.

We had a lovely stay during our 4 day riding trip. Our host Anna was wonderful and the horses, facilities and services were great.
The staff were eager to please and always available.
The food was delicious and healthy.
The rooms were cleaned daily and comfortable, except for the pillows which were awful.

What an amazing place! Great staff, well-kept horses, beautiful location! I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Everything went smoothly, from the bus stop pickup in Reykjavik to dismounting at the end of the ride, everything went smoothly.

Icelandic horses are among the most unique and friendly breeds in the world. Getting the opportunity to ride one was life-changing, and I would recommend the experience to anyone visiting Iceland!

Hot springs tour was perfect for a beginner yet adventurous person. Staff is attentive and makes you feel safe while also not beeing overly cautious. Sightseeing was also great. For someone who is not scared and sat on a horse 1-2 times before, this is the perfect experience. They have extra rain clothes, shoes and gloves.

The hotel room was a bit too basic and without ventilation, which made the air stuffy. Hot tub nice but a bit dirty. Breakfast was ok. Service was great, really nice.

I stayed there one night and also took a riding tour the next morning. You get a discount if you book it via the hotel. The room was really nice and equine styled. Good breakfast. The ride was really magical. We started in the dark and rode basically into the sunrise. Super nice. (and super cold but you get an overall) very calm horses and such a beautiful landscape. Really just magical

We had such a lovely stay at Hotell Eldhestar. We stayed for five days and four nights during our riding tour “Best of Eldhestar”. We enjoyed breakfast, lunch during riding and a three course menu every evening and the food was delicious 👌

As for the rooms they were spacious and clean but the beds a quite hard, pillows really flat and the ventilation is pretty much not existing if you’re not opening the windows.

It’s located at a convenient distance from Reykjavik and there is a lot of things to see and to near by apart from riding.

We would love to come again!

We did not stay at the hotel but went for horse riding (my daughter and my wife). My daughter is an experienced rider therefore I booked a longer ride (3 hours) and for my wife a short one. Both loved it! The horses are very well trained and the guides do a good job matching horses to experience of riders. Very friendly trainers which took good care of the group. They did cross country rides and crossed rivers and so one. And where they realized big differences in rider experience split the groups to give the riders a better experinace.
Be aware: during high season book well in advance (at least 4 to 5 weeks before) otherwise your preferred ride and timeslot are booked out.

It is a very welcoming and warm place with a beautiful history about Icelandic Horses. Clean and comfortable rooms, very warm where you feel good. Good and tasty breakfast food. You can walk quietly in the Hotel area and admire the Northern lights. You also enjoy a hot bath in the tub. We would come back here again when we come to Iceland.

Had a day event: horse riding, light lunch at the hotel, a hike to the hot springs, then coffee and cake. Transport from Rejkavik was provided, timely and perfect! Hotel staff were perfect and made sure everything was prepared in advance. Riding and hiking staff/instructors were competent and wonderful companions! Our riding levels were considered for the choice of horse, there were also had wind-proof jackets/pants and boots for us! (Note: you can bring things in a bag and leave it at the changing room with the other jackets during the horse ride. I didn't know that, so I stuffed everything into my fanny pack, which is allowed on the ride.)
What a perfect day! I hope to visit again.

I stayed at Eldhestar for one night only and then went on a 4 day horseback tour with them - i absolutely loved everything about it. The guides are very relaxed and experienced, the food on the tour was also very good and the horses are doing so well under all weather conditions! Definitely recommend.
