Awesome geothermal spa. Was our last stop on an amazing Golden Circle Tour. Very clean and relaxing. Staff was excellent. Also saw how they bake sweet Icelandic rye bread in the ground with the hot springs. We then got to taste the rye bread with butter and/or smoked trout. Delicious. It was a wonderful day!

Everything about the place was amazing, springs, bread tour (thank you Flaviu for the fun and answering all the questions and the delicious food), it was snowing in the afternoon when we did the springs after the 2.30pm tour, the cafe is really nice too, the pecan pie was fantastic and the soups are refillable as well as the coffees so really great if you've planned to stay for a bit there. We easily spent 4 hours and it was one of the best parts of our golden circle tour! Highly recommended ✨

Very nice place to relax after long hiking and Aurora hunting. Not crowded, stunning view of lake and mountains. As a bonus you can try local rye bread with tasty soup in buffet.

A real gem! We took part in the outside bakery experience and rye bread tasting and then went to the spa to relax. The place looks at a lake. The spa has 4 pools and a sauna. We highly recommend visiting it, we had a truly great time!

Highly recommend this for treating to your body & soul. Fun for couples & small groups.
Separate dressing rooms for men & women.
There are 2 or 3 saunas, 4 pools of thermal water, some warmer than others.

Tiled pool - looks like most pools, but shallower and the water is nicely warmed.

Infinity pool - rectangular & about 1 meter deep, this overlooks the lake & is great.

Black tile & rock Pool - has warm & hot spots. Places to sit on the side of pool as well as the lack rocks inside the pool. Watch your step in the dark- stubbed my toe.

High Hot pool - great temperature. Very big semicircular Pool with room for 29 people. Great view of the lake without leaving the water. Only thing is the railing could be replaced with plexiglass for clearer view.

Food & beverages as well as meals served in the clubhouse / entrance.

Would live to return again and get more time here - and more rye bread made on site.

Nestled on the shores of Lake Laugarvatn in Iceland, Fontana's bakery offers visitors a unique and unforgettable culinary experience with its traditional lava bread.

Prepared using a centuries-old Icelandic baking technique, lava bread is made by burying a pot of dough in the hot sands near geothermal springs, allowing it to bake slowly over the course of several hours. The result is a dense, dark bread with a rich, earthy flavor and a slightly crispy crust.

Fontana's lava bread stays true to this time-honored tradition, delivering a taste of Iceland's rugged landscapes and volcanic terrain with every bite. Served warm and fresh from the oven, the bread is a testament to the ingenuity and resourcefulness of Icelandic cuisine, harnessing the natural heat of the earth to create something truly extraordinary.

Beautiful place in the Golden Circle, in the road between Þingvellir and Geysir. The pools are so nice and have a really amazing view. The changing rooms are very pretty and clean. Also, have a lot of amazing products for your hair and skin went you are showering. There is a small cafeteria, very pretty, the only thing is that I would like that it had more food choices. Awesome place.

Just a brief stop here as we were on a Golden Circle tour, but we'll worth a visit. The Rye bread experience was interesting and the tasting with smoked trout was delicious. The spa is great with a variety of pools and the lake, plus the sauna and steam rooms. The staff are excellent, very friendly and helpful and the facilities are first class. Would definitely return if we're back in the area.

This absolutely needs to be on your list! The rye bread is sweet and kinda like sticky date pudding.

We got stuck in a tour bus group... Guide was talking before we were even in the door at the end. The other group had a much better experience. But if you can time it right with a small group... Amazing.

The thermal baths have a beautiful view, I much preferred these to the secret lagoon.
We also did the geothermal bakery experience which I would recommend

This natural spa was incredible.

They had progressive spas that varied by temperature, both dry + wet saunas, a bar / cafe, and a lake we did a cold dip in between spa pools. Since the spas were natural, it was required you take a shower (nude) before entrance into the spas, just FYI for anyone uncomfortable with that.

We also were given a tutorial on the bread they make in the ground, fed by the hot springs. It was very neat to see + taste.

We loved the tour, tour guide and the BREAD! The spa is set in a beautiful location, our guide was very informative (and witty, which is rare!). The bread was exquisite! I’m not kidding when I say that this was the tastiest bread I’ve ever had, we ended up taking 3 servings! I’m a baker by profession so this tour holds a special spot in my heart. 🤗

Thoroughly enjoyed our stop here. Took the plunge and broke through the ice on the lake to take a cold dip. The pools were perfectly warm and the sun setting was beautiful. The bread and butter was super tasty. Fantastic staff

Great place! There are different 'pools' and each has its own temperature, so it's a good place to try! It has warm bath water temps to hot tub temps. Wonderful views and a walk-up bar outside. You can try freshly geo-baked bread and learn about the process. Solid place to chill and really take in Iceland.

Good selection of baths. There are 4 in total. One shallow one, one deep, one jacuzzi, and one hot spring one. All of them are heated. Furthermore there is lake access where you can swim in the lake. They also have nice saunas and steam rooms.

We tried the bread baked using the geothermal energy with trout from the lake. It was good, would recommend.

This was such a wonderful place, beautiful, clean, and very pretty.
Not as many people visit here as they do the sky lagoon, etc, so it feels much more special and less crowded. This spa is also a lot cheaper than places like the sky lagoon.
You can rent towels for one thousand kr each.

As is required with all natural geothermal hot springs in Iceland, you must shower without clothes or swimming costumes on and use soap to clean yourself thoroughly prior to entering the water. There are separate male and female changing areas, each of which is communal. There are free lockers to store your belongings while in the spa.
There are two large toilets in the changing room for those who wish to change into their costumes in private. Also, there is a shower curtain in the communal shower block area, which allows you to shower undressed privately as well. Shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel are provided for free.

There are a number of different pools and a jacuzzi, which were of differing temperatures, so you could find one which suited. I also really enjoyed the freezing cold dip in the icy lake!
The sauna was amazing as the hot spring is beneath your feet, and you can hear it bubbling as you sit in the naturally created steam.

Food and drinks are available for a price. The coffee was really enjoyable and you got free refills too!
The geothermal bread with butter and smoked salmon was absolutely delicious. This is made on site and cooked in the hot springs/sand for 24 hours! It's such a cool process! You get to watch it on earlier tours.

The staff were super friendly and helpful. I unfortunately sat on a wet chair in the cafe and the staff dried my trousers for me, while I went in the springs!

The tour bus also broke down, and even though the spa had closed, the staff waited behind and let us come inside to use the facilities and stay warm while we waited for a replacement bus to come from Reykjavik!
It was truly a wonderful experience!

Loved my experience at this place. This place is serene. I loved the pool with rocks with natural hot water and the second highlight was the steam bath. I didn't get a chance to order a lot but it is a must. They have a nice place to sit and enjoy your drink after your time inside. They have friendly staff as well! This place is super clean as well.

Free lockers are provided and you can rent bathing towels as well.

We did the geysir bread experience and it was awesome. There were more people on the tour than we thought, about 30. But it was a cool experience. You get a recipe to take home, which yields a nice but not the same bread. I think our rye flour is different in the states, much lighter. Your tour includes a tasting with local birch smoked trout and icelandic butter with the bread.
