Hotel Húni

This is a tricky one for me as I haven't every stayed in a 2 star hotel. When I was younger I was too poor to stay in ANY hotel. Now I can stay in some of the better hotels. So I have very little frame of reference.
I'll start by saying that all the food we had here was fantastic. The two main chefs who cooked for our party of 18 were great. Every dish was tasty and plate were always clean at the end of eating. This very simple green pesto was served with bread and everyone devoured it.
Our double room was small but perfectly ok. The heating worked very well and so we were warm. There are no ensuites here but it is a 2 star.
The pool and hot-tub were very welcome after a long day riding horses and the changing rooms were all clean and warm.
I would stay here again with no problem.

The best campsite we have been to in the whole golden ring roadtrip. What a gem! The campsite is behind the hotel, you can access its showers and toilets. They have electrity for the RV. The only thing missing was a kitchen but we didn't need one so everything was perfect. For a little extra you can enjoy the hotel swimming pool and hot tub. 100% recommendable.

And also it was the cheapest campsite by far! We couldn't believe it

- Must-Go Camping Spot -
We stayed here with our camper on the way from Borganes to Akureyri. The campsite is amazing with grazing sheep in front of you, sunset view and the calming lake Svínavatn nearby.
The staff is amazing. Especially their polish employee (receptionist, server) is amazing. She is one of the nicests and most helpful persons we met on our tour. All the best and good luck for your future!
Staying with the camper (w/o electricity) was 2,500 ISK per person. For additional 1,000 ISK per person you can use the warm swimming pool and the hot tub. Since the hotel is an old school, you can also use the school‘s gym for free. They have great showers and toilets. Furthermore they offer delicious dinner from 7 - 9 pm and breakfast from 8 - 10 am.

We camped here for a day and we liked it a lot. Really kind staff, tasty food, access to the pool and hot tub for a small price. Overall good choice if you need a place to stay in the north.

We camped at Hotel Húni in our Camper in the early spring. With access to the hotel facilities, this was easily the cleanest and best facilities we've seen on our entire trip. The heated pool and hot tub was an added benefit we didn't know we would get to enjoy! The family that runs the hotel is amazing and very kind. Less than 10 minutes off of the ring road, if you need a spot to stay in between the North and the South this is a fantastic spot.

Booked day of for my solo ring road trip. Service and staff were excellent. Room was clean and comfortable.
Pool was great, hot tub even better.

We stayed for a night in our Iceland Ring trip, one of the best accommodations we had regarding price/value. Breakfast included. The young lady in the reception is beautiful and doing a very good job making her guests satisfied.😁

Great campsite, absolutely a hidden gem. You can use all the hotel facilities, including a sports hall, and for a small extra charge even the swimming pool and hot tub. Bonus are the horses and the amazing view.

If you have an RV that needs electricity, look for a different entrance that leads to the field behind the hotel. No cooking space but you can use the heated pool and hot tub for 1,000ISK per person which was great!

We stayed there over winter and we basically had the whole place for ourselves. The facilities are amazing and the hot tub an special extra to enjoy in cold evenings. The family that runs it was extraordinarily kind and welcoming. Definitely recommended!

super friendly and helpful staff, also a nice place to stay in a campervan. it's possible to use the swimming pool and hot tub with a small fee. we enjoyed a lot!

A former boarding school was transformed to a nice Hotel. The rooms are cozy and clean. You still can use the old facilities of the school as a big, heated outdoor pool, a huge gym with basketball court, an outside soccer field, playground etc. They also installed a hot whirlpool.
The breakfast was very good and made with love by the friendly owners.
We really enjoyed our stay.

If you are into movies … the movie „Burial Rites „ starring Jennifer Lawrence will be filmed in the wider area and the northern coast starting 2023.

We visit it in March, 3 persons from Greece. It was amazing. The building, the staff, the diner, the cat. Hope to see you again guys!

Camping here and it's the best so far. 2000 isk per person with cleanest showers and toilets. There's option to have hotel food for extra charge if you need. Definitely recommended of you are campervaning Iceland.

Amazing stay at the Hotel Huni campsite, beautiful location and the cleanest shower and wc we’ve used so far. We were also served some espectacular fresh cod and homemade bread. Definitely a must if you’re around the area and we’ll be back when we visit Iceland again 😊 Thank you!

Camped here for the night, it’s actually a hotel but they let you use the showers and facilities! Really warm and friendly, it’s a converted school, so cool!

We had a very welcoming experience. We arrived late evening and they kept the kitchen open for us, so we could have dinner. Comfy and clean rooms and excellent pool and new hot tub. Hotel manager was also very inviting and friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. A real country hotel 🙂

Camping with the van here is perfect and the toilets are very clean! Perfect view too! Luka the waiter is very helpful and a nice guy!

This was the best hotel experience we had in Iceland. Andre was great, no TV so could disconnect, wonderful outdoor pool and hot tub to relax in while looking at snow covered mountains.

Clean! Toilets. Showers. You can park / set up tent in the parking lot. 2000 ISK/ person. June 2022. There’s a place to wash dishes and get water outside. Hot water. It’s a school, hotel, campground all in one. Make sure you sign the guestbook.
