Hrútey Island in Blanda River

Nice little stop along the ring road. We visited end of March when the island was convered in a lot of deep snow. Luckily, someone visited before us, so we could just follow their foot steps, as the path was not visible. Really beautiful views though when it's covered in snow, and 2km or less to go around

Easy hike around the island with lots of trees and benches to sit and enjoy the view. Was lucky enough to have three horses exploring across the river while walking the path. Great place to get out and stretch your legs between long stints in north iceland.

Its an easy stop if you are travelling around ICELAND on Route-1 (Þjóðvegur 1) and need some breathing time and relaxation from driving. There is a walking way arround this island that takes 20-40 minutes. Beautiful wild life. Fantastic individual or family experience/activity. BRING CAMERA 🙂

Wonderful island in the middle of the river. Good Access from highway nr. 1 and walking paths are clean

Easy access to the island with a nice bridge. There’s a waterfall you can see and the landscape has a nice variation. You can see a lot of waterfowl on the island. I was pleased because I found a bog I can do research on.

1.3km loop around the island. Really nice views and a good stop if it’s on your route. Picnic table available so would be a good lunch stop

Vor Ort befindet sich ein schöner Fluss der über zwei verschiedene Brücken überquert werden kann. Auf der kleinen Insel führt euch dann ein schmaler Trampelpfad einmal herum. Zwischendurch befinden sich immer wieder süße Sitzgelegenheiten, die zum Genießen der Aussicht einladen. Allerdings ist der Weg sehr schmutzig, aufgrund der Ausscheidungen der dort brütenden Tiere. Wenn man die Mitte der Insel erkundet, sieht man auch Nester mit Eiern. Stören sollte man diese lieber nicht. Ansonsten eine tolle Aussicht und definitiv einen Zwischenstopp wert. Der Parkplatz ist kostenlos und die Besichtigung ebenfalls.

Passavamo di qua durante il nostro giro sulla Ring Road e abbiamo deciso di fermarci per passeggiare un po'. L'isolotto è fornito di parcheggio ed è possibile fare una bella passeggiata ammirando diversi esemplari di avifauna. Consigliato se si è birdwatcher

Schöner kleiner Zwischenstopp, wenn man die Ringstraße entlang fährt.

Piękne miejsce na 1,5 h wycieczkę. Blisko natury. Ciche i spokojne...poza gęganiem gęsi których jest tu mnóstwo😉

Perfekt um sich nach einer langen Fahrt die Beine zu vertreten. Direkt an der Route 1 gelegen. Es gibt einen Picknickbänke auf der Insel Mittel im Grünen.

Una tappa veloce ma di sicuro interesse.

Schöner Ort, aber eher was für Lokals welche keinen Wald kennen.
