Icelandic Textile Center

One of the best exhibits I've visited thus far. There are several rooms to explore, each containing a variety of displays. The atmosphere of two rooms in particular did an amazing job at wrapping up my entire experience at this museum.

We visited our daughter Pam who is on an artist's residency there learning traditional weaving techniques.
The place has a great vibe and everyone seemed very happy in their collaborative work. All very interesting. 👍

Most incredible residency I have done. You can see whales from the studio window. You can sit in the geothermal hot tubs after a long day of working. The staff is amazing. I have to force myself to not go back every season and branch out to other residencies but this place has set the bar incredibly high and I compare all others to it. Love love love. I will be back soon!

This is a hidden gem. It was well laid out and the staff was extremely helpful. There was a lovely display of local national costumes. Beautiful needle work of all sorts.

I was lucky to be accepted as a resident at this famous retreat where you can cultivate your art and learn new skills at your own pace. And the setting overlooking river Blenda is awesome.

Great place for all tourists. A lot of gifts and things from Iceland origin.

Un pequeño museo textil en el pueblo de Blönduós junto a la que fue una escuela de señoritas. El edificio tiene una primera planta que se puede visitar y en él se está tejiendo una Saga Islandesa que será récord guiness por su longitud. Se encuentra frente al mar en un sitio idílico.

Très beau musée pour les amateurs de textiles faits mains, de travaux d'aiguilles et d'anciens tissus islandais !! Bon accueil et explications, le prix était raisonnable, 1500isk par personne !!

Sadly closed in may. Opens 1st of June. The barbed wire sheep art outside is beautiful though.
