I have visited many museums in India but this is one of the best. I would recommend visiting the museum inside the palace. You will learn about North eastern tribal community culture, tradition, history, artifacts, struggle etc completely.

One of the most iconic places in Agartala. You'll fall in love with this.

The majestic royal palace of Agartala. It has turned to a museum of the royal history of Tripura and North East India.

Photography is prohibited inside the building, thus, only photos of the outside is here.

The museum is huge. It consists each and everything of Tripura, starting from the communities live here, the religious sites, archaeological sites, mountain, tea gardens, floras and faunas.

You'll need at least 2 hours to complete the whole museum.

I went there with my friend. It was a beautiful place to spend your afternoon peacefully. Here you can find the left over of the king of Tripura. You can find many things of the past . It was awesome. The culture of the whole tripura is described inside with Scriptures and photos. But you can't take photos inside the museum. Everything is good there except prohibiting clicking photos. I recommend you to go there with your partner or friend, you'll really love it . ♥

Its really amazing palace. The Royal Palace of Tripura is in Agartala. Rephrase In addition to this history museum, there are two other history museums in Agartala. There are also fourteen other things to see in this city. You can see where the Royal Palace of Tripura is on the map above.
The Ujjayanta Palace is a well-known royal house located in the center of the city. It was named by Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore, who visited Tripura often. The house has pretty tiled floors, nice doors, and curved wooden ceilings that make you admire the architects who built it. The palace has rooms for public gatherings, a royal meeting room, a library, a place for receptions, and a Chinese-themed room. Ujjayanta Palace is a museum in Northeast India that shows how people live, their art, and crafts. It is a popular place to visit. The big house has three floors and a mix of architectural styles. It is surrounded by peaceful gardens in the Mughal style. This palace gives a special experience and lets people see the royal history in peaceful gardens. The king of Tripura, Maharaja Radha Kishore Manikya, built the palace between 1899 and 1901. The Tripura government bought it from the royal family in 1972-73.

The palace is built by Maharaja Manikya in 1899. It was the royal residence until Tripura's merger with India in October 1949. It's on the banks of two lakes, one on either side. The doors and entrance are wonderfully carved. The entry ticket is ₹40. You need to show your ID.

Standing tall in the middle of Agartala on the banks of 2 lakes to each side is this 122 year old magnificent Palace of the Manikya Dynasty who ruled Tripura from 1400 AD till it merged with the Union of India in 1949.

The palace was built in 1862 but was destroyed in the great earthquake & then the current palace was built in 1901 by the same architect who built the Victoria Memorial in Kolkata.

The Tripura Kingdom claims to be the longest kingdom in ancient India with 144 monarchs ruling it.

The Palace was bought by the Tripura Government & is now a state museum. There is a light show in the evening as well.

I was impressed to find out that the Buddhist movement was very active in Tripura between 200-500 A.D & has a few Buddhist monuments still standing.
I also came to know that the Pala Dynasty ruled over this land in the 12th century A.D. I always imagined that the great Pala Dynasty was confined to present day West Bengal & Bangladesh. The museum was definitely an eye opener for me. The light show depicted the chronology & the bravado of the Manikya Kings to thwart off invasions by enemies.

However one sad point that I noticed is that most of the centuries old Buddha statues have mostly been defaced.

Anyway this was a great start & initiation to the History of Tripura.

Museum Tickets - Rs.40
Light Show tickets - Rs.100

The Ujjayanta Palace, also known as Nuyungma, is the former royal palace of Tripura kingdom built by Maharaja Radha Kishore Manikya in 1901; and the name was given by Rabindranath Tagore. It housed the State Legislative Assembly up to 2011.
Ujjayanta Palace is now a State Museum and it primarily showcases the lifestyle, arts, culture, tradition and utility crafts of communities residing in northeast India, along with a lot of stone sculptures, coinage of the Manikya dynasty and some other artifacts.

Ujayanta palace was begun in 1899 and completed in 1901. It stands on the bank of two lakes Radha Sagar and Krishna Sagar. In 1972 the main building of the palace was bought by Tripura Govt from the Royal family. Now this building is known as the state Museum Ujayanta palace. You can see the history culture of Tripura through Light Show.

It is good place for visiting. We may take our kids for knowledge and enjoyment. We may understand the great culture of Tripura and its kingdom.

It provides an elaborate history of not only the royal family of Tripura but also the culture of its people, flora and fauna of the State. The museum also provides insight to the 1971 freedom struggle of Bangladesh. The museum also houses various tableaus of the whole of North East along with a to scale topographic map of India and The Northeast.

Great collections of historical/heritage/ cultural articles and antiques. Even three hours may be inadequate to draw full benefits of the information provided/displayed here. Thanks to all who have created and developed this museum with high standards and maintenance.

Beautiful place with all the names, pictures, artifacts and history of Tripura, North-East and South-East Asia.

It also includes the Bhasha Aandolan details, floura and fauna of North-East India.

It's clean and well preserved. Renovation was going on when we last visited. Security is good. But the sad part is one can't capture photographs inside the premise.

Loved this white beauty in the north-east state of India. It gets even more beautiful at sunset. Looks like the beauty is blushing and turns pink. It has a museum in it, worth spending time here.
