Kanak Durga Temple is the century old temple of Maa Durga that is located in the forest beside the Dulung River. This temple is very famous temple where many tourists visit.. it is about 15km away from Jhargram Town. You can see a nostalgic view. The walkway to temple is very well maintained and decorated by various types of trees and sculpture of wild animals.
There are lots of monkeys to, sometimes they may try to snatch things if you eat in front of them.
Parking facilities are available.
A good place to spend time.

Beautiful temple. Peaceful. Well maintained. Lots of open space and monkeys. Pujas are held in the new temple. The old temple is now under renovation.

The place is surrounded by natural jungle and the river Dulung. The old temple is built in almost 250 years ago. Though it has been abundant for years, because it was just divided into two parts with thunder. Now repairing work is going on.

The temple is situated near the Chilkigarh Rajbari. The entry and the walking path of this temple is very well maintained and decorated by various types of trees and sculpture of wild animals. The only cons is there are lots of monkeys and they are somehow very much aggressive towards the visitor.

The Kanak Durga temple is situated in one of the most beautiful surroundings. You will find lot of langur apes in the premises and they are harmless. There are shops in the premises where you can buy puja offerings. Marriages also take place in this temple. It is accessible only by road. The Kanak Durga Temple of Paschim Midnapur has been declared a National Bio-diversity Heritage Site. The temple is dedicated to Devi Mahamaya. The story is that, Devi Mahamaya came in a dream and
ordered king Gopinathto to set up a temple for her worship. The old temple is widely known as Baramahal. The inhabitants of Chilkigarh village set up a small temple under a banyan tree. This four-hundred year old Banyan tree still stands although Devi Kanak Durga (Golden Durga) idol has been shifted to a newer temple premise. The present idol is made of eight metals, or ashtadhatu. The temple is situated within 61 acres of forest area, which is home to 350 rare tree species including sal, akarh, telikadamba, kuchila, Bhoot Sal, and Kanchan creeper. The forest is also home to butterflies and birds. The path to Kanak Durga temple is through this beautiful forest. There is a small river named Dulung at a walking distance from the temple. During Durga puja, the priests offer Duck eggs to Devi Durga. Earlier there used to be animal sacrifice on the day of Navami during Durga puja.

Any visitor or tourist to Jhargram the district adjoining West Bengal and Jharkhand should visit the Kanak Durga temple about 14 km from Jhargram Town.
The Tempe is hundreds of years old, the complex has both the old and the new temple. The Durga idol is made of gold.
The location is wonderful, on the lap of nature with the river Dulung close by
You can combine your trip with a picnic as well

Beautiful old and ancient temple. Trail to the temple is great for nature lovers. New temple is not so beautiful as old one in my point of view. We had our lunch with Durga prasad. Dulung river near the temple is great. The ambience of this place is awesome.

No camera & mobile phone allow inside temple. Perfect place for picnic with family & friends. There are ₹500 fine for smoking. Also ₹500 fine available if there anyone use plastic bag instead of paper bag. Many monkeys can be seen on the road but they don't scare anyone. One small park available for children's playing. 5 shops are for selling prasaad @50/ . Dulung river are by the side. Dulung is one of the famous river in this area. Many extinct plants are at this place . It is the place for example of biodiversity. One guest house are in the place where night stay with food available. Afterall the place is perfect for one day family trip.

The temple is worth a visit. Especially the old temple is very old and breathtaking. The condition of the old temple is very bad but that's it's speciality. The walkway to the temple is very green and good. There are benches inside the forest but the area is closed. I guess that was a used area before. There are lot of monkeys to, sometimes they may try to snatch things if you eat in front of them. There is a river beside the temple, the Riverside is very slippery so be careful. Parking fees is 50 and per head ticket is 5 rupees. A good place to spend time. Oh, there is a new temple also by the way.
