I wish to commend Mr Mubarak who has been helping me book a Taj room using my epicure membership...for the last 10 days I have been weighing my options, I have changed my mind many times and given him different dates numerous times - and not even once has he shown impatience - he has been very gracious giving me the right email id’s and phone numbers. In 1903, when it first opened to guests, a room with fans and attached bathrooms would cost ₹13, and rooms with full board cost ₹20. This may sound super cheap right now, but, in 1903, people could buy full meals for a few annas (one anna equals to 1/16th of a rupee /pavli).

Later, it became the first ever hotel in the city that had a licensed bar and India's first discotheque, called Blow Up.
