Idukki Arch Dam View Point

It's prohibited 🚫 area. We are not allowed to visit all the time . They allowed us to visit for a specific time only.

Best view point to look at both the Arch Dam and the Chruthoni Dam (this is the Idukki Dam).
The hill view park is a good place to halt and view the reservoir for some time.

The biggest dam of Kerala. It is an engineering marvel. The arch dam connects two mountains. It was open for public till the end of May 2023. Don’t know if it will remain open. Advice you to ensure that the dam is open for public before paying a visit there. Walking above the dam covering Idukki dam and cheruthoni dam will give you 5kms of walking experience. It’s better to book an electric buggy ride to cover the distance of you are not found of walking.

Entrance is there..no camara any electronic devices strictly restricted and police is very helpful.. normal ticket and expanse also... Expanse means quick ride for 5 km . Complete ride in Top dam by buld for dum only very good place to visit 5 - 4.8 because of lengthy ride..by going road was good...no issue.. some where road fdlls comman in heavy rain.

You see the other side of the idukki arch dam here. Where water not present. It looks like a big wall. It is around 169 meters from the bottom to top. And at the bottom it is around 20 meters where as when you reach the top it is more tham 150 metrrs long.
There is tight police security present 24/7.
But if you are a VIP or go with a vip the police will allow you to go near and even touch the wall.
But beware the arrogant police will abuse you otherwise.

World's second and Asia's first arch dam. This is not the dam entrance.. It is near the private road to the dam bottom.. Visitors not allowed to the dam bottom...

Idukki Dam entrance is through Cheruthoni dam..
Mobile phones and e gadgets not allowed inside the dam..
They can be kept in the counters/clockrooms

The Idukki Arch Dam(1975) (has no shutters), in Kerala, India, is a 169.16 m (555 ft) tall concrete double, curvature parabolic, thin arch dam.. The dam stands between 2 mountains - Kuravanmala (839)m and Kurathimala (925)m.Built by Hindustan Construction Company.. It supports a 780 MW hydroelectric power station (KSEB)
It is built on the Periyar River, in the ravine between the 2 hills in Kerala, India. It started generating power in 1976. This was constructed along with two other dams at Cheruthoni & Kulamavu. Together, the 3 dams creates an artificial lake 60 km² in area. This water is used to produce electricity at the Moolamattom Power house.

Really beautiful to see.every person who visit this place will be surprised due to its architecture..it will be really besutiful..engineers and otherworkers worked hard to complete its work..if we looks from the top of the dam,the people on the bottom will be seen like dots
