Kananam Retreat

One of the best stays I ever had!!!!
It is sitauated at the top of a peak. There is a concrete path from road to this place. Eventhough it is very steep at some places, every vehicle can reach the resort without much struggle.

Once you're in the resort compound you'll be amazed to of the views all around and how well maintained the property is. Also it is very quiet.

We stayed in a 1 bedroom villa. The building looked bit old, paint started fading. Sofa hard wear and tear. Interior doesn't look as luxurious in terms of lighting, appliances, furnitures as modern hotels and resorts. But it is very spacious and have everything needed for a very comfortable homely stay.

But you don't come here to spend time inside the villa. You should be spenting as much time as possible in the outdoors. There is properly cut grass, well trimmed plant and trees everywhere. There are view points at walkable distance where you can observe beautiful sun set in the evening.
There are open space where you can sit and watch the night sky.
For those who have interest in trekks, there is a peak visible from the property called Pottanpadi. You can walk till the bottom of the peak or can take your 4 wheeler if it is 4x4 or RWD. Vehicle with good GC is recommended.

Views from this peak are absolutely amazing. Best time to do the trek is in the morning. Try to reach the bottom of the peak by 7AM. We visited during peak summer and still the weather was amazing, not too cold, not too warm.

Food served at the restaurant was really good. Every single item we had was delicious.
Every single staff members was courteous and helpful. Especially the GM, who is always there to help you with anything you need with a smile on his face. He is very pleasant to talk to.

The view is breath taking and the stay in the tree house was peaceful. There is a restaurant which serves breakfast, dinner and lunch, however the guests need to place the order in advance. The food is good although the options are limited.

Tranquil Escape with Scenic Views at Kananam Retreat
Nestled near the Naadukani Pavilion in Kulamavu, Kananam Retreat offers a serene getaway amidst nature's beauty. The atmosphere is refreshingly cool, providing a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. The dinner served was delightful, with a variety of flavors to savor. However, the breakfast was a bit of a letdown, lacking the same level of satisfaction. Nevertheless, the breathtaking nature views and peaceful ambiance make Kananam Retreat a worthy destination for relaxation and rejuvenation.

Kananam Retreat is a paradise on this earth it is must to go place for everyone to enjoy the beauty of nature as the total resort situated over beautiful cliff.

Kananam Retreat: A Breathtaking Escape with a Few Catches

Kananam Retreat in Kulamavu, Kerala, stole my heart with its stunning mountain vistas, spacious and clean cottages, and friendly staff. But like any love story, it wasn't without its imperfections. Let's dive into the details:

What I loved:

Panoramic Mountain Views: The moment I stepped onto the property, I was met with breathtaking views of the rolling hills and lush valleys. Every corner of the retreat offered a postcard-worthy panorama, making it a feast for the eyes.

Spacious and Clean Cottages: The cottages were a delight – spacious, well-maintained, and spotlessly clean. Each one had a balcony that opened up to the mesmerizing mountains, making it the perfect spot to unwind with a cup of tea and a good book.

Pleasant Crew: The staff at Kananam Retreat was incredibly friendly and helpful. They were always smiling, ready to answer questions, and eager to make my stay comfortable.

Budget-Friendly: Compared to other resorts in the area, Kananam Retreat offered excellent value for money. It was a budget-friendly option that didn't compromise on quality or experience.

What could be improved:

Restaurant Shortcomings: While the restaurant had a decent menu, the food didn't quite live up to expectations. Some dishes were bland, and the overall quality could be improved.

No Complimentary Breakfast: Unlike many other resorts, Kananam Retreat doesn't include breakfast in the room rate. This can be a bit of a downer, especially considering the remote location.

Overall:

Despite its minor shortcomings, Kananam Retreat was a fantastic experience. The stunning views, comfortable cottages, and friendly staff made it a truly memorable escape. If you're looking for a budget-friendly, peaceful retreat surrounded by breathtaking nature, Kananam Retreat is definitely worth considering. Just keep in mind the lack of complimentary breakfast and manage your expectations for the restaurant.

Had a nice stay in Kananam. The location is a bit isolated at the top of a mountain. The staff behavior was nice, especially of Mr Jacob. Room service was quick. The only drawback which I can point out is the food ordering. We had to order the dinner and breakfast well in advance. We were told that there will be buffet if the resort is fully occupied. Recommend this if you are looking for a nice, calm and quiet stay and not for any amenities such as swimming pool or spa.

Every things was beautiful and clam.such a peaceful Place to Hangout, and top class service from the Management's side.

One of the best experience I’ve ever had in Kerala. Staff here is really polite and very much friendly, excellent service, neat rooms and the best part about this place is the view, it’s just mesmerising.

Kananam Retreat is an amazing place to get away from the city grind and rush. It is the ideal spot to get some peaceful rest and enjoy with friends and family. The view is the best because of the altitude. Rooms, service and all other facilities are top notch.

Beautiful place with a breathtaking view. The resort is located on a hilltop at Kulamav, which gives you a 360 degree view of Idukki, surrounded by foggy mountains. Rooms and services are pretty good. I'll definitely suggest this place for everyone who is planning to visit Idukki.

A great destination for people who love mountains and trekking. Well maintained single/double bedroom cottages with adjacent parking which can accommodate one or two cars easily. We did a staycation and stayed two nights at this property.
You don’t have to go anywhere else to enjoy the scenic view of the sky and sunset. Food is available at affordable prices.
The staff are very helpful and quick to provide the needs. The cottages have a good hall and a kitchen (though utensils are not available and I couldn’t understand the purpose of the same).

We booked 2- 2bhk cottages...rooms were clean and tidy. We had a peaceful stay. Food was good. The view from the cottages are beautiful. Highly recommended for families & group trip

Nice place. It's a small property with excellent view, provided there is no mist. Stayed for one night and the staff were so helpful. Cottages are basic but clean. Its equally suitable for familes and friends group. The road to resort is little challenging but enjoyable for enthusiasts.
