Toli Masjid Reviews

The Toli Masjid is a flamboyant mosque, situated in the suburban area of Karvan, located nearly 2 km away from the Golconda fort. The masjid is one of the many gorgeous memorials in Hyderabad.
It is a breathtakingly beautiful example of the architecture of Qutb Shahi. The Toli masjid is embellished by two minarets of about 20 meters on either side. It was constructed in 1671 by Mir Musa Khan Mahaldar, the known and renowned designer of Qutb Shah.
The frontage of the Toli Masjid comprises of five arches, each of which consists of lotus decorations in the spandrels. The main arch is somewhat broader and more elaborate. As per the regal records, the Toli Masjid is also called as Damdi Masjid.

The architecture of the masjid is worth appreciating, it's a gem hidden in plane sight. I've had some time to spare and spent each and single moment admiring it's beauty. The imam's congregation was beautiful. I'd have loved to see people from the community and the government give care and commendation.

Toli Masjid sits on the way to Charminar from Golconda fort. Not one of the most visited places, but the mosque is absolutely beautiful and is definitely worth a visit.

A must visot place while u are passing from Karavan or on ur way via inner ring road from mehdipatnam to attapur.
The beauty of the mosque lie in its elevated platform, the house ( water feature), the heavy and lofty pillars mage with large cut stones, the architecture that will take u back in the history.
It would be nice if the place will undergo some modifications and some green grass and trees around the mosque. This will grab more peroples attention.

Ah! beautiful architecture at its best. Have seen quite a few masjids from Golconda Fort to Charminar but this stands on top of them all. The unique Qutubshahi architecture and marvelous design both inside and outside add gems to its beauty. If you love Charminar, you'll definitely going to love this masjid.
Constructed on a good height with around 8-10 stairs fits it in great frames. Open area which has Wazu house adds beauty to it.
Heard from my Grand Father (worked as Foreman for Qutubshahi 7 Tombs) that Toli (penny) was collected to construct this masjid, hence the name Toli Masjid.
However history shows "There is a chapter in the royal records called the "Gulzar-e-Asafia." It mentions that when the royal architect was building Mecca Masjid, he was given one damri/damdi (coin) out of every rupee spent on it. The sum of money thus collected was used by Musa Khan to construct the Toli Masjid. Hence, this masjid is also called Damri Masjid".
There is a lot of area for this masjid which can be used for parking during Jumma prayers. Government should work more on preserving this beautiful masjid and other historical monuments like these.
I feel like there should be historical script carved near masjid for people to know more about it.

While the mosque still stands in all its glory, the 27 acres and five guntas which belonged to it have been encroached upon. In fact, the mosque stands in the middle of a shanty town though a board declares that this is a protected heritage site of the Archaeological Survey of India.
