Prabhadevi Temple, also known as Prabhavati Devi Temple , is a Hindu temple located in the Prabhadevi area, near Dadar, Mumbai. The idol representing the main deity, Prabhavati Devi, dates back to the 12th Century. The temple itself, though, was constructed in 1715, making it only 300 years old. The temple is managed by Bhatji Jaywant Joshi who is a third generation pujari of the temple.According to historians, the main deity of Prabhadevi Temple was originally referred to as Shakambari Devi. She was the famous goddess (Kuladevi) of Seuna Yadava king Bimba Raja of Devgiri. According to local folklore, Prabhavati Devi appeared in the dreams of a devotee named Shyam Nayak from the Pathare Prabhu (one of Mumbai's earliest native communities), who would go on to build the temple of Prabhadevi.

The idol of the goddess was shifted to Karnataka, where it was attacked by muslim invaders known as the Mughals. Later, it was moved back to Mahim Creek and placed in the current Prabhadevi temp

One of the oldest temples in Mumbai dating back to more than three hundred years (built in 1715 A.D.). Part of the group of deities that are part of Mumbai folklore since ages (the others being Mumbadevi, Kalbadevi & Sitaladevi). The Prabhadevi temple complex is within walking distance of Siddhivinayak temple. Though much smaller in size compared to the Mumbadevi temple, its popularity is no lesser. Revered by locals and even people from all corners of Maharashtra, the temple has a serene and positive atmosphere for devotees. The entire area comes alive in January every year during the Prabhadevi Fair which is definitely worth a visit.

This is a three centuries old temple 🕌 . The home of Prabhadevi. Recently Elphinston Road station on the local rail line is named after this deity. A fair is held here near the temple Annually. Thousands of Mumbaiites visit here. The precincts of the deity are pleasant and pious. The Trustees, Mr Alark Desai & Mr. Milind Wazkar prefer to keep the temple low profile and away from the media hype. Two more deities are present with the main Prabhaavit Devi.

Nice temple of Goddess Prabhadevi, Goddess Chandika & Goddess Kalika.

During Jatra (fair), there are Sweet shops within temple premises where Gulabi Barfi (Pink Barfi) and Dudhi Halwa are super delicious and must buy ones! :)

One the oldest temples in Mumbai today. It's one of those places which are still the way it was about 30 years ago. Make me feel nostalgic everytime I visit. Goddess Prabhadevi has been protecting all her devotees and Mumbaikars forever. Would recommend everyone to visit this temple and experience the peace we find the moment we enter there.
The simplicity of the temple makes it very special.

One of the very old Mandir. Away from commercial activities. They celebrate only one big festival in January with fair. It's been a long tradition. People coming to Siddhivinayak Mandir can visit here. Please note they have timings and it is closed between 12 noon to 3pm.

The 100+ years old temple of goddess Prabhavathi devi with Kaalika devi and Chandika devi. We can also see idols of lord Lakshmi Narayana, lord Shiva, lord Ganesha along with his mother Gauri(parvathi). At the side of prabhavathi devi's arch also has the idols of Prabhu Hanuman ji and other goddess. A very devotional place with ancient history that brings good fortune to the people who pray by heart. Liked this place very much for bringing me good fortune and most prominent in the area after Sidhivinayak temple (temple of god Ganesha).
