Today visited Namak - Fine Dine in Sahara Star for lunch.. Must say that their hospitality, ambience, food and service is perfect.

Let me start with the welcome drink - A delicious combination of cranberry, orange & pineapple juice & a mocktail - Guava Marry followed with appetizer - Bharwa Aloo followed with main course - Subz Khada Masala with Aloo stuffed kulcha & Garlic Nan and delicious Dal Makhni.

Would definitely recommend this place and would like to visit again🤞

Namak is hosting Zaika-E-Kashmir which is nothing but kashmiri food festival till 23rd October.
The festival has both Veg and non veg menu available.
The festival has great portions for starters.
Mains also have their authentic kashmiri gravies which are especially prepared by Chef who is specially flown from Kashmir .
Desserts also have authentic kashmiri taste and it's richness.
The hospitality is also top notch . Mr. Rajesh has helped throughout our meal.

My 3rd visit to Sahara Star and this time around visited Namak. Finally managed to get one thing of my bucket list of restaurants which I always wanted to visit. Located at Level 00 like most of the other restaurants at Sahara Star, Namak serves authentic Indian cuisine. Chic ambience, live kitchen, soothing music, lipsmacking food, prompt and courteous service; this sums up our experience at Namak. We preferred the Chef's recommended menu here since it is a three course meal, along with starters, main course and dessert.

We were welcomed with an inaugural drink - a refreshing mix of pineapple juice and mint leaves. Moving to the appetizers, it was a platter of 3 starters - Tandoori Malai Paneer Roll, Chenna Palak Ki Shami and Shimbi Paneer Ki Seekh. All three contain paneer but of all my absolute favourite is Chenna Palak Ki Shami. This Palak with cheese filling kebab literary melts in your mouth, the chef has done a fabulous job by preparing a veg version of this all time favourite kebab. Tandoori Malai Paneer Roll was also brilliant, again Paneer extremely soft and fresh marinated in pickling spices if onion and mint malai cheese grilled in tandoor to perfection. Shimbi Paneer Ki Seekh has a dominant mustard flavour with beans and paneer filing. Loved all the starters.

To go along with food - starters and mains, we called for couple of mocktails - Crimson Tide and Kala Khatta. Crimson Tide is something that I would definitely recommend of the two - Mango juice, orange slice, berry crush and plenty of ice. Refreshing mocktail. Now moving to the mains there were three vegetables Khade Masale Ke Paneer, Tripoliya Subzi and Sua Dakhni Saag which is Namak's version of Sarson Da Saag. Of the three I would say Tripoliya Subzi - mix veggies was the best, one of the best I have had in a long time. Signature dish at Namak and a must have at Namak. Sua Dakhni - spinach based veggie gives this amazing smokey taste, which I personally love. This is due to roasted garlic. Again a must try for those who like Sarson Da Saag.

All these veggies were accompanied with the Thikri Dal Makhani, creamy and super yummy! For breads we called for Zaffrani Paratha which is a layered paratha along with tonnes of Saffron in it. Loved this paratha as well, another must try! Post this we ended the mains with Tarkari Biryani served with Raita. Biryani was superb had layers of rice with veggies and spices. Finally moving to dessert we had the signature one Shaad-e-Jamun which is mini jamuna baked and layered with rabdi. A must try dessert, don't miss this for anything.

One of the most memorable experience, one of the most memorable evening, all thanks to Namak Sahara Star. Special thank you to the chef Karan Singh who prepared this delicious meal for us. Also our server Saeed, for being extremely courteous and helpful. A must visit, especially when celebrating any special occasions with your friends or family. Hope to come back here sooner than later!

NAMAK 06/04/1930:
With some beautiful ambience in and out, Namak seems to be interesting with its name and the date which aligns with it. Namak 6.04.1930 represents the Dandi March that took place by the Father of the Nation with thousands of Indians covered 240 miles and took 23 days breaking the unfair salt law. Also adding the fact that It is the fair amount of salt that brings out the essence of any cuisine!
With admiring the calming ambience of the place, some tantalizing aroma of Indian spices and a royal welcome at the restaurant we started the evening with some amazing Welcome drink which was pineapple and mint juice with a hint of rock salt. My friend liked it so much that she asked fairly asked for one more. It was refreshing and we were ready to savour at the world full of soulful delicacies and indulge in authentic Awadhi & Hyderabadi preparations.
For Appetisers: we had:
Tandoori Malai Paneer Roll: tandoor paneer with malai mint cheese was very delicious and cheesy. I think the combo of paneer and cheese tandoor is definitely a must try.
Chenna Palak ki Shami: I was very excited for this one, since the name is different, it looked different and the taste was fantastic. It’s an Awadhi styled kebab made up of Chenna Palak was the best vegetarian kebab of the day, I really loved it and if you are reading this, please do try this blissful snack/dish and thank me later.
Tandoori Jhinga Kalimirch: I’m a Prawn fan and tandoori Jhinga kalimirch was a must order, Mouth watering prawns marinated with cream cheese wouldn’t have gone wrong at all. It was fresh creamy and scrumptiously delicious.
Gosht Awadhi Seekh: Gosht Awadhi Seekh was a winner of the appetisers that I had for the night. I’m usually selective when it comes to having Gosht in restaurants, but I was confident to have Gosht Seekh at Namak, because of the heritage of the place this is and I knew I will not be disappointed here. Made in style of chefs of Nizams, Gosht Awadhi Seekh was juicy very delicious with flavours of saffron and spearmint. It was soulfully tasty.
For main course we started of with
Sau Dakhni Saag: My Firsts of the Saag, Sau Dakhni Saag was one of the amazing dishes that I recommend, spinach tempered with roasted garlic, ginger flavoured with dill leaves made my heart and stomach very happy. It’s very rare you come across vegetarian food so delicious and yummy and this was very good.
Gosht Banjara: Gosht Banjara has my heart, simple lamb cooked dish with special ingredients from Andhra, braised and curried with all love and care making it to my recommended list. I loved the flavours, making my taste buds jump with excitement as I lured on every bite with my onion stuffed kulcha.
Thirki Dal Makhani: I’m not gonna lie when I tell you, I haven’t had such an amazing Dal Makhani ever and if you are visiting Namak this is what you try. I mean a simple dish as Dal Makhani can be prepared so well. Black urad lentils with fenugreek, tomato and home churned butter, A preparation of almost 24 hours have been invested to make this Dal Makhani, with every bite melting in my mouth I could feel the blend of Dal with butter is nothing but amazing.
Murgh Zaffrani Pulao: I’m just going to ask you to go and try their Murgh Zaffrani Pulao and you can thank me later. With every bite I could feel the essence of fragrant spices and the aromatic basmati with yogurt braised chicken Pulao making it a complete meal to relish on. Very Tasty, Delicious, Heavenly. The best Pulao I’ve had lately, the best main course dish of the night. This one is just not worthy of missing. You miss it, if you don’t eat it. Have I convinced you enough to go to this place and make sure you order the Murgh Zaffrani Pulao yet? Go try it, Now!
Gulab Jamun & Malai Kulfi: Gulab Jamun was really good, served hot, fresh and the right amount of sweetness, with Malai Kulfi it made it even more delicious.
Chef Mr. Karan Singh, mastered the art of delectable food of India. Mr. Sagar and Miss. Shrutika served us for the night along with Mr Lavlesh. Thanking you!

Sahara Star has always been one of my top choices to head for a great meal. Visited their Namak restaurant for the first time and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. They have massive portions
on their set menu that's enough for two people. Their drinks are great and customisable. So if you don't like too sweet or too cold, make sure you tell the servers. Aadhar, our server really knew his food well. He explained which dishes would be amazing and his recommendations were on point. The tandoori prawns, amristari fish, chicken biryani, reshmi chicken tikkas, daal makhani were simply amazing. They have amazingly soft and juicy gulab jamuns for dessert too. All in all, the service, ambiance and offcourse food was great. This is definitely a place you must visit. It has great options in both veg and non veg dishes.

Known for its Indian food across the city, we finally got a day to give them a visit. Completely enthralled by the experience right from the ambience to the hospitality and food they have got it all right. Our server Siddesh assisted us so well and had end to end knowledge about the menu.
We went for 3 course meal plan that is priced at roughly 3k per head. They have 4 starters, 4 main course and 2 desserts under this. We opted for the non veg version.

In the starters, we began with Murgh Malai kebab. Really creamy and cooked well to make the meat tender. Then it was the Tandoori Zinga prawns. Huge palm size prawns served on a sizzling plate. Next we went for the lamb kebab and the stuffed mushrooms. Both of them were so soft that it melts the moment its in your mouth.

For the main course they have all kinds of assorted breads and gravies. Their dal makhani is what took out hearts away. It's the first time I've ignored my meat gravies to have dal. It's made for some 48 hours didn't get that clear but the aroma it had was magnificent. Overall we had a great time. Eagerly looking forward to visiting them again!

I visited Namak on my birthday and I'm so glad I did.
The ambiance here is warm and cozy. The staff is courteous and kind. Well I'm formed and trained.
Loved the crockery.

The Awadhi cuisine at Namak is excellent.
You can opt for the set menu or select as per will.
I opted for the set menu which had all the Namak speciality in it.

We started with a Pani Puri water sorts palate cleanser. It was spicy, tangy and very refreshing made with mint.

We tried three appetizers

Shimbi Paneer Ki Sheek which were a mix of paneer and green beans, perfectly done, well balanced and perfectly seasoned. They were delicious.

The Chenna Palak ki shami melt in the mouth spinach kebab stuffed with cheese, so so flavorful. My favorite appetizer of all. The spinach flavor was dominant. Excellent..must have.

Tandoori Malai Paneer Roll.. soft fresh paneer stuffed , rolled and cooked in tandoor. Delicious, perfectly cooked, well seasoned.

Coming to mains

Khade masale ka paneer.. coarse dry spices and panner cooked in a rich delicious gravy.. loved this dish. The coarsely ground dry spices gave a lot of flavor.

Tripoliya Sabji .. a mix of three vegetables, one being kidney beans. A rich delicious gravy. Really good.

Sua Dhakni Saag... Must try this. A mix of Dil and spinach with a garlic tadka.. an unusual combination but a fantastic one. Loved it. So so flavorful. My favorite.

Dal Makhani.. oh so good. Creamy and perfectly done. It was very flavorful. Loved it.

Vegetable dum biryani.. a very simple but such a flavorful biryani. The rice is cooked in a flavored stock which gives it a great flavor. Must try.

Desserts- had a warm stuffed Gulab Jamun.. which was melt in the mouth.

Mocktails are decent.

Overall loved the food here. Had a great birthday!

On a serious note, Namak serves one of the best Indian cuisine in town.

Everything here was so modernly authentic!

The restaurant is named after the the significant act which took place on 6th April 1930 where our beloved Mahatma Gandhi Ji broke the unfair SALT LAW

Not only the ambiance is welcoming of this restaurant but also the food is mind blowing.

Located in one of the most beautiful five star property; Sahara Star this restaurant gives you an option to either choose your meal from a set course menu or an A la carte.

Prices are ofcourse on the higher side but trust me the quality of the food and the overall experience is definitely worth it!

We chose A La Carte Menu...

Our Recommendations
1. Malai Doodhiya Mushroom
2. Tandoori Broccoli
3. Khatte Anardane ke Chole
4. Dal Makhani

We couldn’t find anything missing in every dishes we tried here.

Zafrani Paratha is something you can’t skip if you’re dining at Namak.

Have eaten Indian food so often but experiencing the delicacy provided by Namak restaurant was magical.

Special thanks to Chef Darshan and server Sagar who took care of our experience!

Sahara Star has been always our favourite place to unwind with friends and family and it never disappoints us.

Namak serves typical Indian Desserts which include Gulab Jamun, Rasgulla etc but it tastes the best!

Overall it’s an amazing restaurant!

NAMAK 06.04.1930 this date needs to be remembered. Father of The Nation (Mahatma Gandhi) picked up a pinch of salt and kindled the nation's freedom Moment along with thousands of Indians to cover 240 miles on foot. This is History. Coming to the Cuisine - Awadh Punjab Andhra and Karnataka. Menu looks vast unless one knows what he exactly what he/she wants to order. It's a very rich cuisine. Preparation made in desi ghee and is heavy. One can opt for a set menu (veg and Non veg) but even that would be difficult to finish. Restaurant situated Hotel SAHARA STAR (perhaps one of the top 3 on my list) I have over the years.

Requested for the smallest portions available, here is what we had:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chana Palak Ki Shammi (Indian, Hyderabad) Also a part of Pakistani and Bangladeshi Cuisine. Speciality of the Nizams. Normally it is associated with Meat. Here the Chef has given a vegetarian version. Minced Chana and Palak. Glaze was amazing. A small layer of cream/diced onion/cilantro stuffed. Balance of spices of class. Overall a fantastic melt in the mouth dish. Served with Onions/Lemon and garnish of Cilantro.

Tandoori Malai Paneer Roll - wow, this was a winner by miles. Traditional style of cooking at this place. Basically Thin Paneer sliced then rolled. This was stuffed with cottage cheese along with Onions/Cheese/Cream/herbs/Spices and mint. Marination is the key. Tandoored till golden glazed. Just awesome and a must try. Rich dish.

Gosht Ke Gilawat - nothing much to say about this. Order and enjoy the richness / Awadh style preparation. Melt in the mouth. A slight fragrance of rose water enhanced the dish. Spices balanced. A bit on the spicy side but not HOT (as in spices) Fantastic.

Gosht Awadhi Seekh - Traditional style of cooking. Hand Pounded. Lovely texture and glaze. Flavours of Saffron and spearmint balanced perfect. Spices/Herbs/aroma. All were just good. The focus is the taste. Presentation simple with onions and mint chutney.

Tandoori Jhinga Kali Mirch - wow. This is beauty. Jumbo prawns. Lovely marination with a creamy cheese. What I loved was the texture and the glaze. (Chilli powder and Cream) hallmark of a good chef. Char grilled over sigri gave that Smokey flavour. Prawns were soft and had the richness. Overall good.

Mains: Tripolia Subzi (rich made in desi ghee) Guess it's their signature dish. Smooth velvety texture. This is all about blending and balancing the spices and herbs. Simple yet classy dish. Paired with Roomali roti.

Ambade Ka Murg (this takes you to Andhra) Ambade also known as Gongura, a plant sold on the streets of Andhra Pradesh. Rich in vitamins. This dish is the chef's creation. Basically many leaves and barks are used in getting this dish correct. A bit sour but balanced it with spices and herbs. Roasted shredded chicken was perfect. Overall the dish stood out. Chicken lovers, call for this dish. Semi thick.

Dal Makhani - richness written all over it once it came on the table. One needs patience and art to get this correct. Urad lentils simmered over night over low fire tandoor which gives the natural butter and texture of the lentils and the body needed. Blend of Churned butter cream methi and ghee gives a lovely texture and taste. Just go for this it's a classic.

Skipped the rice - Roomali roti was a bit chewy (chef, please look into it)

Coming to desserts - Shaad-e-Jamun Baked dessert, Mini Gulab Jamun layered and baked with Rabdi. Combination of Hot and cold. A bit sweet for me but polished it.

Nolen Gurer ice cream - Normally This reminds you of Bengal (sandesh) chef has made an ice cream using jaggery and date. Lovely texture and not that sweet.

Overall - One word.

Namak is one of the luxury dining restaurants at Sahara Star near domestic airport, serving the best of Hyderabadi, Awadhi and North Indian cuisine. Named after the famous Salt (namak) Protest by Gandhi, Namak is definitely one of the best places in Mumbai to have royal Indian food alongwith the best service.
The ambience is quite serene and the soft classical music playing in the background gave out pretty amazing vibes which made for a perfect dinner. We were greeted warmly by Ms Sapna who made sure we were comfortable and having a good time throughout the evening. We went along with their unlimited 10-course chef's special menu which had a vast variety of 3 starters, 2 main course, dal, assorted breads, biryani and 2 desserts. We started off with some of their mocktails-

Guava Mary: A spicy tangy drink with tabasco and black pepper blended with guava juice.

Apple Tea Cooler: This one is very mild and refreshing with herbs and black tea infused in apple juice.

Chammomile Collins: Another mildly sweet and refreshing drink made from chamomile tea, pineapple juice and honey.

Hibiscus Passion: This mocktail is watermelon based, with a hint of hibiscus and lime juice.

Coming to the food, we were served 3 appetizers along with an assorted chutney platter. Take a look-

Tandoori Jhinga Kalimirch: One of the best prawn preparations I've had. Jumbo prawns marinated in cream cheese and black pepper and char grilled over coal to give that smoky flavour. Loved the freshness of the prawns.

Murg Malai Kebab: Chicken based appetiser with the marinade of creamy cheese, garlic and methi. The chicken chunks were super soft and tender. Do have it with mint chutney.

Gosht Awadhi Seekh: I love seekh kebabs and this was one of the softest and juiciest I've had. The lamb meat is finely minced and blended with saffron and spearmint to give a unique taste.

Ambade ka Murg: Ambada leaves used in Indian cooking, gives a refreshing sour taste to the dish along with medicinal benefits. The roasted chicken cooked with ambada leaves left us wanting for more. One of the best dishes of the night!

Gosht Banjara: The softest lamb pieces cooked in Andhra style. The gravy was onion and garlic based. Went well along with butter parantha.

Dal Makhni: One of my favourite dishes made right. Urad dal slow cooked over tandoor with lots of home made butter, cream and methi. Truly a delight. The only improvement that can be made is addition of a small portion of kidney beans which will add to the taste and creaminess.

Murg Zaffrani Pulao: More like biryani but cooked in pulao style. The dish was very fragrant with spices, basmati rice and yogurt braised chicken. Very flavourful and best had with vegetable raita.

Breads: We called for Lachcha Parantha and Cheese Garlic Naan in breads. Some improvement in needed here. A bit hard.

Desserts: We were in bliss after having the desserts here. Malai Kulfi was super creamy and the Gulab Jamun was one of the softest I've had. It felt like those little balls of heaven were freshly lifted from the boiling sugar syrup. So fresh and fluffy. The perfect end to the meal.

We were served sweet pan after the meal like in a royal Indian feast. The manager, Mr. Ilavarasan personally greeted us and even had a small gift for us, a beautiful wooden spice box. Special mention to the head chef who came to our table and asked for feedback and suggestions. We loved and thank Sahara for extending heart-warming hospitality towards us!

Namak – This is one of the 5 restaurants inside Sahara Star and serves one of the most delicious North Indian cuisine. The place exudes royal vibes plus you are assured of extreme cautious measures thanks to Covid era. Each and every staff is extreme courteous and warm and greet every one like their own which is worth mentioning as not many 5 star places can replicate this.

I recently went there to experience their special menu on account them celebrating 91 years of Satyagraha. The dishes in general were prepared in a little unique style where in typically for any marination before cooking they added the hint of salt for taste post the entire marination. With this technique one tends to get not only a distinct taste of the delicious appetizer but also relative strong sense of salt on top of it without overpowering the dish with saltiness. It was very unique concept and very well executed.

From their special menu I specifically tried

Pathari Gulabi Namak Grilled Norweigan Tawa Salmon (Rating 5/5)
Sendav Namak and Pink Pepper Tandoori Prawns (Rating 5/5)
Hara Namak Marinated Chargrilled Chicken Drumstick (Rating 5/5)
Himalayan Namak Tandoori Chicken Thigh Tikka (Rating 5/5)

All the dishes had super sized individual portions to start off with. Taste wise I personally loved chicken tikka and salmon. Loved their unique take on marination which actually elevated the dish on another level. Chargrilling was perfect keeping moistness inside for all three chicken, prawns and salmon variety.

In mains we tried Ambade ka Murgh (Rating 5/5) with Himalyan Namak and spiced Lacha Paratha (Rating 5/5). It was to be honest one of the most delicious chicken curry I have had. Its hands down a must order out there.

For desserts, we kept light with Badam halwa, sweet ladoo and kaju katli which was just as homely as we make. I was satiated towards the end of the meal like always.

All in all, I love this place to fullest, and it remains my best restaurant in Sahara Star, I rate this place a 5.

Mention Kashmiri food and the few cuisines that you could think of Dum Aloo, Rogan Josh, Yakhni and Wazwan among others. But trust me, Kashmiri delicacies are much more than that. If you are craving for Kashmiri delicacies, head to Sahara Star in Mumbai. Their restaurant Namak is hosting Kashmiri Food Festival that gives you a taste of why Kashmir is called the heaven on earth not only in terms of scenery but also in terms of culinary items.

This place needs no introduction and the Kashmiri food festival named “Daawat –e- Wazwan” will be there till 3rd February 2019. Kashmiri food is simple, full of flavours but rich in taste, with ingredients they play beautifully with your taste buds and leave an enhancing experience.

The Vegetarian menu at the food festival will have Dingri Stuffed Aloo, Dum Aloo Kashmiri, Paneer Zaffrani Tikka, Haaq Saag and Seb ka Halwa, Zaffrani Kulfi in desserts. While the Non- vegetarian menu will have Machhi Pari, Kokur Kanti, Gosht Ki Seekh as starters, Tamatarwali Machhi, Waaz Kokur, Goshtaba, Bakher Khani, Anantnagi Kulcha, Yakhni Pulao in Mains and Seb ka Halwa, Zaffrani Kulfi in desserts.

There’s a common perception that Kashmiri cuisines are heavier on the non-vegetarian side especially mutton. While the menu in the food festival features a variety of vegetarian dishes which was equally mouthwatering as non- vegetarian dishes.

So, head to Namak and indulge some delicious, lip smacking Kashmiri food before 3rd February 2019.

My Recommendations: Gosht ki Seekh, Machhi Pari, Waaz Kokur, Haaq Saag, Yakhni Pulao and Seb ka Halwa.

P.S: The review is strictly depends on my personal experience.

Namak one of the finest restaurant in sahara star serves amazing northindian cuisine.
They served us welcome drink which was made of pineapple and mint which was quiet refreshing. Later for mocktails we had cranberry colada which had pineapple and cranberry juice with coconut cream. Even had mango mocktail which had mango and icecream which was amazing (highly recommended)
For starters we had :
Tandoori malai paneer roll - Tandoori paneer roll stuffed with onion, mint and cheese.
Shimbi paneer ki seekh - This was made of green beans with cottage cheese which had a strong flavour of mustard.
For Main Course :
Khade masale ka paneer, baingan ka bharta and dal makhani with naan and kulcha which was great.
Even had Veg Biryani which was amazing served with raita.
Lastly for desserts we had malai kulfi and stuffed gulab jamun.
Gulab jamun had a stuffing of mava inside which was amazing.
They even provided us with Paan after meal which was a great idea.
All over had a great experience with amazing service.

Located inside Sahara Star on the lower level. Sahar Star has a collection of few restaurants that are spectacular both for food and service.
Namak is one of them. A fine dine restaurant serving indian cuisine. It has an open kitchen where chefs have curated the best of indian palate mirroring dishes from all over the country.
I visited on a Thursday for dinner and was greeted and guided politely by the staff. Sapna, who was very knowledgeable and patient, attended our table and served us for the evening. Here’s what we savoured throughout our evening.

Mocktails
* Cranberry Colada : Creamy, coconuty and the right amount of cranberry flavour to it. Not too sweet which was good.

Appetizers
* Tandoori Jhinga Kalimirch : Wow!! Dragon Prawns cooked in tandoori marination with a hit of black pepper. The prawns were cooked with the skin and the marination added bags of flavour to it.

* Murgh Malai Kebab : Juicy, creamy and well cooked chicken kebabs which were absolutely a melt in mouth appetizer.

* Gosht Awadhi Seekh : Perfectly prepared lamb seekh kebab which were extremely smooth and properly textured, as well as tasty in every bite.

Main Course
* Ambade Ka Murgh : A chicken gravy which was cooked with ambade leaves giving a sour taste. The chicken was perfectly roasted and the gravy altogether tasted amazing with the kulcha.

* Gosht Banjara : This one was my favourite. Lamb pieces with bone cooked in Andhra spices was a delight to our palate. The gravy was thick made from the main ingredients of onions, tomatoes, ginger, garlic. This one must be eaten with Butter Paratha.

* Thikhri Dal Makhani : The best Dal Makhani till date. It’s so relishing because it’s been cooked with half n half portion of butter and dal mixed with spices and methi. Truly delicious.

* Assorted Indian breads : We had Butter paratha which were soft and perfect and Kulcha which were a bit chewy.

* Murgh Zaffrani Pulao : The pulao was another winner for me. Perfectly cooked chicken marinated in curd and spices with long basmati rice. Served with mix vegetable raita was damn yummy.

Desserts
For desserts we had Gulab Jamun which were yummy and soft just the way it should be. And Malai Kulfi gave us a good end to our meal.

Head here to have a lavish fine dine experience.
Bon Apetit!!
