One of the biggest library in chennai.
It has multiple sections along with 9 floors. The most amazing part is that it is free of cost. Bag deposit facility is also there. If you are a reader and like to visit places, then is it a must visit place.

Absolutely lovely place, it's huge inside and you can spend hours there. Get yourself a membership if possible it's not that expensive either. There's ample parking spaces too for people, you can carry your own books to read or even laptops for working here it's a very apt place for working.

The collections are very vast, you could check out a whole day here that's how big the library is. Do know that they don't issue books you can only read them.

I'd encourage parents to take their kids often to this library and make them develop a habit of reading. Good atmosphere, ambience really helps when you are developing a hobby and this is the perfect place in the city.

It's India's 4th biggest library. Totally 8 floors. Wide range of books in all categories. Children section on the first floor is extraordinary with a vast area of books. The library is well maintained. Fully air-conditioned. No entry charges. Clean toilets. Parents can bring their kids for reading habits as well as to reduce screen time.

We are lucky when our elected representatives put our interests first. That's what I feel while walking into the Library. The leaders who designed this library deserve all the appreciation for the respect they have for the common people. I really wish all he public places and facilities reach and retain this standard. I have spent at least 500 hours in this library. One can forget the time and dissolve in the peace of this space with the rich collection of books under any section. The layout of the place is so good. The glass walls, the racks, the furniture. Everything makes our time worth it. Excellent parking facility, food and refreshments at affordable costs and presence of good restrooms. One can feel safe and comfortable here. Children's section is so beautifully designed. "Must go" place for families and visitors to Chennai. I hope and pray the government continues to maintain the place in all it's glory

The Anna Centenary Library is an absolute joy if you are a bibliophile. Although the library doesn’t lend books, it is undeniably a fantastic resource with which you can feed your literary desires!

What Makes It Awesome
The Anna Centenary Library is spread across a massive 3.75 lakh square feet of land and houses eight floors of books, books and more books! They currently have five and a half lakh books in their library that are available for public access. You can only read the book in the library though.

The library has an ‘own book’ section that is air-conditioned and furnished well for readers who are looking for a calm space to read. They allow laptops in this area, so it’s a pretty awesome space if you’re looking to work in peace as well.
If you’ve been wondering about a place in the city where you can take your young child (or even your nephews and nieces), do plan a trip to the Anna Centenary Library. They have a beautifully decorated Children’s section complete with an artificial tree under which they can read! Their catalogue of children’s books is vast as well. You can find pretty much every book from Amar Chitra Katha to books by Dr Seuss there.

The library stocks close to every kind of non-fiction and academic title there is, in subjects like architecture, design, engineering, medicine, history, geography and environmental sciences to name a few. They also stock a variety of books in languages like French, German, Spanish and Italian and have a separate floor dedicated to Tamil books.

The library also has a section dedicated to magazines and journals. Anna Centenary Library even does orientation programmes for IAS and IPS aspirants, fun weekly classes for kids and also have book launches. The best part about this awesome facility? It’s free!

Good place to improve your knowledge. Nice surrounding.

Bags have to be kept at front and token will be issued.

Lot of sources available for people doing research.

Fully Air conditioned.

Restroom Neat and clean

Parking facilities available.

This place is definitely one of the highlights of Chennai . It has 8 floors with each floor dedicated to one section. The building has centralized air conditioning. The building is well protected. They have facilities to guard our bags when we get inside. The librarians in each floor are very resourceful and helpful . The books are arranged conveniently. There are water source in each floor to quench the thirst of users. We may wonder is there any book that is not here. They have books that are around thousand years old to few days old. The canteen facility is decent . The elevator takes us to all the floor with ease. The structure of the building is very impressive. The displays in the library are dedicated to reverent Tamil poets, singers and leaders. Overall it is highly recommended to visit this facility as many times as possible!

A fantastic library in Chennai - various floors with a wide collection of books. There are desks and chairs around the periphery in each floor. I visited the 4th and 6th floors. The collection of scientific material on conferences specific to chemical technology, sensors, optics, etc were impressive. Also impressive we’re the collection of material on laws - Indian, British, American, etc. Super collection in one place.

As a visitor, I learned they do not allow bags inside - including pocketbooks - I had my passport and important documents inside. But to protect the books, they politely request us to keep the bags (including pocketbooks) in a prop room.

Everyone - security, reception staff, prop room staff and librarians are kind and friendly!
