Sreepuram English Medium School Kannur

Sreepuram was my Alma Mater for 14 years, and I am fortunate to have been a part of the family for the majority bunch of my childhood and teenage. Those years were filled with mixed experiences of happiness and disappointments, and I’m happy to have been groomed by the wonderful staff at Sreepuram. I said this once during the farewell speech, and I’ll say it again - Sreepuram has (in connection with a lot of other factors and people, just in case you don’t restrict the idea to) moulded me into the personality I’m today.

The facilities available are quite good and exposes students to a spectrum of academic and extracurricular opportunities. Yet, the emphasis on sports and games could be given a lot more importance.

The premises is very well kept, and the management does so well in keeping a healthy atmosphere for the students.

The non-teaching staff, particularly the aunt’s are very sweet and helpful. We grew attached to them during our times there. Still to date, during visits, we’d cherish the sweet memories and have a laugh.

The teaching staff are the best. They heed to the needs and concerns of their students. There have been remarks that teachers are a bit harsh and criticises you often. I will disagree with this claim, and the little instances of harshness and criticisms have been taken in a lively and light spirit, only helping me better myself.

The institution also focuses, and to a great extent at that, on developing ones command on language and this will greatly benefit one in the future.

Affiliated to CISCE, the academic loading starts once the pupil reached eighth grade and the loading is gradual - unlike what the general consensus says, that the academics is too large a burden on the kids. The academics is demanding, only as much as any other syllabus is. I also found the initial terms of my Engineering studies to be a bit easier as the foundation laid was sound, and how helpful the then tedious academic loading was in easing my UG studies.

The concerns that I do have is that the management at times seems to be restricting the studies to just books. In this era, with the world literally within the reach of ones fingertips, it is essential that knowledge and know-how’s of life be imparted - personality development and soft skills to be exact. Also, the High School Wing focuses on just three streams - Engineering, Medical and Commerce. A suggestion to the management is to provide pre-graduation career guidance assessment sessions to every individual student and help them with the academics that will best suit their aspirations.

Sreepuram is located centrally within Kannur and at short distance from the central/civic facilities. The School has an established transportation network.

The fee structure is at par with the peers and I believe is a tad lower than the obvious competition.

One thing I have to tell all readers of this review is that the first and focal point of schooling is ones home and that an educational institution can only do so much if what is being input from the household is counter intuitive. I say this because I came across a review where the entire school was being judged, on the capability of nurturing the kids to imbibe soft skills, at the mere experience of a brief phone conversation over an admission.

As a former student, I’m content of the knowledge and love I have received from Sreepuram, and would happily recommend this institution to budding spirits.

Having completed mg schooling has helped me a lot during my engineering.
I feel like ICSE board exams (Xth and +2) are comparatively easier than CBSE.
As a 90% visually Impaired student I feel like the school management should give a bit encouragement to their physically desabled students.
