Never knew there existed such a beautiful temple at the end of the city. Really wonderful, beautiful, clean temple. Right from the enterance door, upto the Shiva lingam every thing was so beautiful and nice. Definitely worth a visit.
Stunned to see such a beautiful seven tier gopuram at this part of the city. If you are a art lover, have to visit to see not only the beauty of the gopuram, but the massive nicely sculputed and painted doors, the carvings on the walls.
The Temple is definitely ancient temple, though the priest (gurukal) told me that the Temple gopuram is only about a hundred years old. He also told me that since the Temple was fully buried inside the sand, and later dug out, the place got the name from the temple. "Mannuku keezh irundhu shiva lingam vandhadanal", the place came to be known as Mannady.
I felt the construction aspect was more similar to Karaneeswarar temple in saidapet, and few other temples, which i have visited in the past, where the ambal shrine is inside the main sanctum.
Few other famous important temples are close by, hence definitely worth a visit.

Shri Mallikeshwarar with Shri Maragathambal Thaayar. Old, calm and serene temple. The Navagraha sanctum is on the northern side. The Navagraha moorthies are beautifully carved with East facing 7 horse riding Sun in the centre.

Came to know about this temple from a TV channel and visited later. Located in the busiest area of Chennai, the temple is quite big and serene (when you visit on Sunday evening). Now that Metro is extended, Manady is the closest metro station for this temple. We spotted that the Navagrahas in this temple are unique and are worth taking a look. Mallikeshwarar and Maragadhambal are the supreme God here and we shall worship them.
