In 2003, the Madurai Municipal Corporation upgraded the bus stand into a mofussil bus terminus. Apart from being an interstate bus terminus, the Madurai Mattuthavani bus stand is spacious enough for as many as 1000 people to travel through it daily. Passengers can get to almost all places as the bus stand serves as a road gateway to Southern Tamil Nadu and Madurai.

MGR Busstand Mattuthavani is good busstand for journey across tamilnadu state all buses start from here this busstand in out side of city. Here parking fecility available and busstand was not clean and good somany people come here to travel and many shops and ATM s available in busstand. Please maintain premises clean.🙏 And to rach this busstand travel City buses only auto will charge more and more amount. City to 8 kms for this busstand.

Too many small size shops are available with in the campus.
Too many restaurants are available with in the premises.
Always crowded with people and buses.
Pay and use rest room facilities are available with neat and clean. Drinking water facilities are not known to me.

remember to ask for platform 5 for rameshwarm bus… govt ac bus starts at morning 6 am and normal govt bus is on every 30 min.
Except ppl not knowing hindi/ English from TN there is nothing you can dislike about tamil ppls.. they sound rude when talk in tamil but believe me they are most polite and good hearted people here in tamilnadu.

A okayish bus stand with lots of passengers and buses even at midnight. Pay-for-use washrooms available. Benches are there for seating. Some shops for simple consumables.

Nice place.. bathroom all clean good but payable 10rs.. foods all costly inside busstand... Buses coming frequently like Chennai..

It is the main bus stand Madurai also call it as the famous Mattuthavani bus stand.

The buses from Coimbatore and other main districts will reach here. But for returning, you have to go to Aarappalayam bus stand which 12 KMs from Mattuthavani.

The famous Jigarthanda shop is direct opposite to the bus stand.

Lots of veg and non-veg hotels are available near bus stand.

Auto's will be available any time and moderate price.
